I always liked Lisa's Snowball II, and still regret it died in "I D'oh Bot" episode. It was a nice cat, although we didn't know much about him/her. (Any assumptions about the gender, btw? I personally think it was a girl, but only because it was Lisa's pet - psychological stereotype.) But it was a nice cat, often friendly and quite intelligent. I think I can even claim Snowball II one of Lisa's friends - that kind of friend that don't act like an eyesore but always nearby and can reassure and comfort when you need that. What about you? Do you have a favorite in the Simpsons animal kingdom? Please don't forget to explain your opinion.

Well, I'm a cat person, so I'm with you. BTW, according to Wikipedia, Snowball II was female indeed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowball_(The_Simpsons) I don't care much for dogs, horses, or rodents, so the cats were/are definitely my favorite Simpsons pets. And yes, I also hated the "I, D'oh Bot" subplot with the unnecessary deaths of those cats.

I like both Santa's Little Helper and SnowballII the same, actually. They have some pretty nice/funny scenes, although i think it's unfair that SLH had at least 2 episodes "dedicated" to him and the only one that featured Snowball in more than a way was that horrible, horrible one you've mentioned enough already. MOre snowball! More snowball!

SuusjeYeah, the endless source of new meowing pets for all Springfield Well, at least Lisa has a new good cat now. Hopefully the writers won't sacrifice him/her for the sake of another episode, but will develop this character instead... I once wanted to write a fanfic describing Snowball 5th life - from the very birth, through the life in CCL's house up to the meeting with Lisa (or maybe even further, describing his/her life with Simpsons family), but that was obviously beyond my writing possibilities - started it and abandoned soon. Maybe someone else will decide to use the idea, I'll only appreciate that.

*bump* Hmm... I'm also a horse person, although I very rarely deal with them in the RL. So I guess I should mention two horses which were a part of Simpsons family once. Princess. Lisa's pony that appeared in the corresponding episode. Honestly, I'm surprised that nobody mentioned her yet; the whole episode was about Lisa and her pet, and it was one of the best Simpsons episodes imho. Princess acted very... interesting there: more like an intelligent person than an animal - I don't know a horse which could spend a night in a little girl's bed without waking her up, or to lick some salt just to make your master feel a bit better. Duncan. Bart's horse that appeared in the "Saddlesore Galactica" episode. The whole episode wasn't brilliant imho, but I liked Duncan because he had some character, and like Princess, was quite smart for a horse while still had his flaws (cowardice, for example). For some reason, Princess acted a lot like Lisa, and Duncan acted a lot like Bart.

There's also many pretty horses in "Dude, Where's My Ranch?" too (the Luke's one, remember?) As for me I haven't the pronounced predilections to any animals in Springfield (except for Lisa-centaurus from THOH XII). They all are very clever in comparsion with usual animals, so from time to time they really cause my sympathies. Sometimes they madden me. But in all I don't have any preferences, they all just secondary characters for me.

Hmm... owning possibly the most retarded cat I've known, Maul, I've become another cat fan. I think the show should use some of Mauls traits for Snowball. For example: Licking my hair. Headbutting me from the desk while I type on the keyboard. Having a Mafia like clan with other neighburing cats. Crapping in the bath. Stupid, stupid cat! So yeah, make that four Cat fans

Where's the love for Coltrane? Seriously, that cat is adorable. I always thought it resembled Bart a little.

LOL... actually, he does! Never noticed that before. I wonder what Bart said about that at home. LISA: Hey Bart, don't you think Coltrane looks like- BART: One more word and I'm buying a starfish.

For some reason, I've always loved 'the Hounds'. Maybe it's because they remind me of my dog. With his sharp toofers, bad attitude, and overall cuteness. My dog seems to enjoy it when they bark, too. When I was watching 'Bart gets hit by a car' When the hounds were released and barking, he barked with them.

I am a cat-person and I really love Snowball II. My favorite scene is in "Make Room For Lisa" where Lisa actually *is* Snowball in her dream. I love those perspectives and the acting. So count me in the list, where are one more cat-persons! Btw, I DO like the sub-story of "IDŽoh Bot", even it is a bit mean to show all the deaths of those cats, but I have a dark humor. Heh. Never mind, I loved the design of Snowball III really much. ...oh, and IŽll never forget those cute scenes in the episode where SLH gets 22 dog-babys, you know, the one where Snowball tried to get attention and Homer yelled at her. Poor Snowball. Or that catnip-scene... sooo cute that I did a grab-pic of this.

All of the Simpsons pets are cute, imo. But there's a creature I especially like: an orange screamapillar from Marge's pond. Wasn't much of a pet really, but that part where they explain how it's "sexually attracted to fire" always cracks me up. Also the fact that it has "sleeping screams". (screamapillar screams even when its feeling fine lol) I remember Homer asking are you sure God wants it to live? I just find the whole story fascinating and so funny. I attached a pic of my favourite orange monster. But of more "lasting" pets I really like Snowball 2. it took me a LONG while to notice that the name doesn't suit the cat at all!

In which episode does that happen? It's from The Frying Game, (13th season, i think). Remember when Homer and Marge are accused of murdering that rich old lady? Episode starts with Homer surprising Marge with a koi pond for their anniversary...

Just realised, that I never replied here... I am a cat person, so of course I like Snowballs the most, except that moment, when Snowball V became Smokey and disappointed Lisa. Such an intelligent cat could be more faithful. Always wondered, how Simpsons can have so much animals the same time: dog, cat, fishes and often someone else in addition, animal keeping takes some time and money, but in Simpsons it looks like they grow and live without much care, and only in danger situations Simpsons are doing something for them. From all other, non-constant pets I like Pinchy the lobster and Homer's ravens. That's fun to see, how he using his pets for his own purposes at first, then become fond of them and treating them better than Marge, and after all backing to his normal selfish condition, remembering about his own purposes once again
