I noticed in some episode (don't know what ep, maybe Lisa's rival or another Lisa one) that Maggie was drawing those circles or whatever with her left hand. Seems like she's more like Bart than we thought...

A lot of places hint that Maggie is a cross between Bart and Lisa in the future. "She's a hellion but she has an angelic voice"

Maggie has learned both off Bart and Lisa I probably think she may have elements of homer and marge too. I can imagine her as a Lazy teenager but with Marges heart.

When older, Maggie will probably be a well rounded person up for a laugh but repectful and kind at the same time. The flashforwards are only a theoretical future of what could happen as the Simpsons havent actually set an episode in the future yet (to my knowledge) they are all imaginations, dreams and fortune telling.

Has this been discussed before as may be an interesting topic. What influences will shape maggie and how?

I get the impression she will be a very 'in your face' kind of person. She won't get pushed around and she won't let it happen to others. She's probably also the kind that makes her own luck (in other words, a real go-getter).

Most characters on the show are left handed. This has nothing to do with the fact that Bart's left handed and where Maggie gets her traits.

The simple fact is that Matt Groening himself is left handed and that results in the characters gaining it off him.

Besides, if I remember right there have been situations where Maggie has used her right hand. Such has playing the Xylophone in A Streetcar Named Marge. So in that case, you can say that Maggie is ambidextrous in that she could potentially write with both hands.

Maggie is the most flexible character in that nothing about her is permanently fixed. Take her overbite when the pacifier is out of her mouth for example.

She's not drawing or writing (she's too young for that) and there is a second pencil nearby her right hand. I think she can any moment drop the pencil to give her left hand a rest, change position (lean her left hand on the floor), take another pencil in her right hand and continue doodling. Smile Before Maggie started doing any "precise" actions, such as writing, I think it's too early to decide if she's lefthanded or not Smile

There was, though, a moment when she was holding a gun. If I remember it correctly, she held it like right-handed person, i.e. her right pointing finger on the trigger.

What's wrong with her overbite?

According to wikipedia, Babys have an overbite at the age of one...

I thought it's about the fact that when Maggie holds her pacifier, her overbite almost isn't noticeable, but when her mouth is empty, she looks just like Lisa or Marge (overbite visible). Don't know about wikipedia and real babies... real people should not have such an overbite in any age IMHO Big Grin

Yes they should not - by the way, I have an overbite too, and for many years I thought that it's usual, almost "normal"... Gigi

Maggie's design when the pacifier is not in her mouth is not firmly set. Her overbite regularly changes from a Marge-shape, to a Homer-shape.

The animators cant make up their mind.

Most of the times I've seen Maggie without her overbite, she looked pretty much all the same. Maybe there were tiny difference, but not something to make a fuzz about. Usually, Maggie's overbite about the same size as Lisa's (keeping in mind that Maggie's head is smaller), maybe just a bit lesser, to make the difference between "with sucker-without one" not as noticeable.
With or without overbite, Maggie manages to look cute, though. Smile

I always thought overbite word means "huge upper jaw" (just like Simpsons characters have). My mistake. After your post I've checked the dictionary and checked some photos, thanks for the lesson Smile but even if you have that, I'm sure it's not even close to the Groening style. Also, you have something that makes you closer to Lisa - a little extra reason to be proud of Wink

I'm not talking about size, I'm talking about the shape.

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

In the first, she follows the female style overbite, in the second, she somehow gets the male...

You're right, on the second grab her overbite looks kinda odd. But I think it's an exception, I didn't see same shapes (even on this one, it should be from Smart and Smarter, I didn't notice Maggie looking weird). Looks like an animation mistake, caused by her unusual expression. I like how Maggie looks on the first moment, but alas - it's from the first seasons, we won't see Maggie looking like this anymore. Smile Like Lisa's hairstyle, Maggie has changed over the years.

Hah! It's neither "male style" nor a mistake - the animators drew Maggie right. Check this:

And that extra part is just baby puffy cheek we often see when Maggie's pacifier is on place. Smile

Erm. Smart and Smarter is a Season 15 episode, Maggie has the same overbite in Lisa's Wedding as well, and there are a few more episodes, but FABF09 was the only one I could remember off the top of my head. (Milhouse of Sand and Fog also comes to mind now that I think about it)

There's nothing correct about it. The animators fucked up. It's as simple as that.

Hm yeah, just checked Lisa's Wedding, and Maggie has similar overbite there too. But it's still not a reason for swearing :/ animators know better how Maggie should look, and details like that are much smaller than proportion mistakes you do sometimes, no offense. Unless you have better proofs, I'd say that one-year old Maggie looks almost like Lisa, aside from puffy cheek, and teenage/grownup Maggie has smaller overbite comparing to her head, like it didn't grow much. I concur. I don't think these Maggie overbite mistakes (if indeed they are mistakes) are as noticeable and as serious as some of the pictures in the "Momentary Lapse of Reason" thread. Maybe her overbite looks one way from a certain angle, and another way from a different angle. She is Marge and Homer's daughter, after all. Wink

To still this burning in me?
