Expect the unexpected...

« on: August 07, 2008, 22:48 »

Yes, it is a bit early. I still need to finish/polish DoaS, but the other night I was hit with an idea that has taken hold.
Basically I plan to write the story of Bleeding Gums Murphy's childhood in Capital City. (Dr.) Julius Hibbert, I think that's his name, will play a big role as Murphy's (little?) brother. We may even discover why he laughs so much as an adult.
Specifics aren't set in stone and I am interested in a collaboration with one maybe two other writers so PM me if you are intrigued.

I'm not a writer so i cannot collaborate, but i was quite surprised by your idea! Smile I think it's very original for sure, and that you want to get Hibbert in too could make for some surely interesting reading... er.. i don't have much things to say as you noticed, hehe.
Just wanted to congratulate you on willing to search for some different things to write about in the simpsonic world! Smile

Well as I've mentioned, Death of a Simpson is my first attempt at a fanfic (and the first thing I've written and actually shown to other people). The response has been pretty positive, even after posting it on 2 other Simpsons sites,so I'll probably go through with it collaborators or without. Wink
Oh, I wanted to thank you again for allowing me to use your scene from 'Sanctuary', Marco. A heads up, I posted it on NHC and made sure to credit both you and Simpsons Realities. Their response was general awe. Big Grin

Sorry. Here's my double post (I ran out of post space) emoticon... Sad
Same deal with Gary's MT2, though no comments on it yet (picture-wise).

*celebrates*
Welcome to LTS, Vanguard!
(I hope your disagreements with a few members in the other thread hasn't soured the experience for you.)
I'm still fastidiously trying to wrap up my other project, DoaS, but there is only one chapter left to write.
I'll contact you through PM soon and see about coordinating with you somehow if you're still interested. Probably next week or the one after as I may need some down time to collect myself.
Writing is very draining...

Though I dont do much on my own Simpsons fic anymore, I would like to at least give any help that is needed. This includes proof reading and whatever, I might even have an idea for you if i'm lucky enough to pull my mind out of Cali's Life (as so called to shorten the name.)

Thanks Laguna & Carl!
One idea I had today, which I'd like to get a concensus on...

What do you guys think of Armin Tamzarian in a (sort of) antagonistic role?

Early days of Armin Tamzarian huh? Nice idea. As long as he ends up in front of a judge by running him over with his motorcycle. Tongue

It's still in the very preliminary stages, I was thinking of using him as either a mentor who eventually shows his true colors to young Murphy. Or a constant source of humiliation and bullying.
Haven't really thought on how much he will be involved yet, though...

@Gars: That may be an interesting wind down scene towards the end. I'll keep it in mind. Tongue

To be honest, and you can all beat me later, I have totally forgotten who Armin is. I feel slightly ashamed but not in the least bit surprised

Armin Tamzarian is Seymour Skinner's real name. When he enlisted in the army and was sent to Vietnam he met the real Seymour Skinner who ended up being Armin's mentor. The real Skinner was eventually captured. Armin took over his life on a whim because he couldn't bring himself to break the news to Agnes once he got back.

That's basically what happened.

Now then... onto the beatings!!

Not sure this qualifies as FanFiction and it's not worth a new thread, but I wrote a freestyle poem today at work. It's a part of the process of getting into the subject matter for this story, I suppose.

This short piece is done from the perspective of Bleeding Gums Murphy that night in 'Moanin Lisa' and the last few stanza's are from the moment in the episode where Lisa first sees her idol and introduces herself.
Anyways, sorry for the quality. I sucked at poems in school...

"Not a Hero"

I am not a hero.
I never changed the world,
Saved a life, healed a friend.
I never hoped for more,
Wished for better, set a trend.

I am a fool,
Not a hero.

The life I've led,
The paths I've fled,
All for naught.
Be worth more dead.

No, I am not a hero,
Certainly not a saint.

Age and sex,
Color or creed.
Deep down inside,
We all still bleed!

I ask you now,
O Lord, my God, the Father,
Hear my prayer,
Upon this starlit bridge,
My heart filled bursting with despair.
I never begged for blood,
So, please, stop this flood!
It's too much, and much too fast to bear!

Am I so vain,
That I'd steal your pain,
For a chance at honest feeling?

It's numbing now,
The window closing.
My time is near,
No need
To fear
The reaper...

...

What's this?
Redemption, you say?
Salvation in the eyes of a child?

Perhaps God has a plan,
For this old man,
To rise above his station.

I am not a hero, no...
But maybe there's still time,
For hope.

heh, oh yeah thats right. I totally forgot about that. A one time name to the story-line is kind of hard to remember sometimes. And the poem is good, I can tell that there was a lot on your mind when you wrote it. I cant comment on it other then that.

I did send you that info last night and am just now remembering your earlier remark. You mentioned something about a possible idea for the story?

it wasn't so much that I had Ideas for it, but I am a good help when it comes to brainstorming and such. I got the pm's and I'll look through everything later and see what comes of it all. I mostly have to wait to see what you write of the first chapters.

Well, I'm still hammering out some details with Vanguard, so I'm not sure when the first chapters will appear. It's slow going at the moment because of timezone differences, but the PM's give a pretty good sense of where I'd like to see the story go.
