Maggs says: "My teacher will fail me in anatomy!"

« on: May 29, 2008, 06:57 »

I wanted to draw something before going to bed, but it turned out that I ended doing this simple animation.   Sorry about the drawings not being so clean or right, but I was kinda of a hurry.  Anyway, I do think it turned out presentable at least, that, and Vicky is not the only one having an animated avatar anymore.  Tongue

Vicky, If you are reading this. I was too lazy to color it maybe you wanna help me out.  Just maybe, or I'll find out time and will later.

Lets this be just the start for more of at least simple animations..... Lisa

I wonder why there are no replies, animation is a rare guest on this forum (unfortunately)...
OPUS, your Maggie shocks me a bit with her hairstyle, as usual (Wink), but the animation looks perfect, if only unfinished, when it jumps from the last frame back to the first one.
But she looks very dynamic and alive. Smile Wonderful work.

I saw this as I was about to go out earlier, didnt get time to comment. But for a quick one that is mightly impressive...... only animation I can do is basic logos lol....

Animation is good, smooth coloured and properly looped that would look awsome!

You mean fortunatelly... because animations need ten times the time and work to get done... and as an amateur you should not try this. I think it is a waste of time and talent... Prefer to do one picture-art because you can really show what is beauty (and fun... or sad... or intense).

Well, I guess your animation is awesome OPUS, but... in a sense of pictures and art it is JUST a simple boring moving scribble. Smile
Don?t waste time. Finish a complete work, please.

You got that right, Cargo.

Well, anyway. This was only intended to be an avatar .  Nothing more.   And creating moving scribbles like you said is not a waste of time by anymeans to me,they are fun to do.   I could do longer moving scribbles to make a real animation but it will take me more time, and I still have to illustrate lots of more things for other places around the net, so yes, I think I keep this thread as "Animating Avatars" for now.  Only time will tell where this thread is going to go in the future.

One very important thing I want to say, for me, it is more important to draw fifty schetches or more a day than one finished color picture evey other day. Practice makes perfect and colors is just something else completely.  Illustrators from their roots, have a lot of life drawing backgroud on their backs, still life or something that only requires pencil.  Color is a pretty thing, yeah.  But I prefer to keep doing as many sketches a day than coloring them unless the picture is a really special one.

Yeah, I agree with you Omar. I'd love to do more animation work if I could, though it is time consuming. With practice, the time it takes to create an animation decreses so I think its worth it in the end. Smile

The animation you've done certainly is impressive! My only wish is that there was a longer 'pause' at the end, so we can see the movement more clearly, but I like it! Its realistic, though I'm not sure what the line is on her neck that moves upwards. But this obviously would be removed with colour, even simple colours. Smile

Thanks for uploading this, I love animations Big Grin

Didnt want to start a new topic for this, but dont get your hopes up, it isnt a Lisa animation unfortunatly. But it is proof that my artistic side is not dead! Whoo!! Big Grin

I created a very small animation simply by tracing one of my skateboarding clips, frame by frame. Took a while but I'm pleased with the result. Only problem being I'd like to turn it into an avatar, so it would be .GIF format. I dont have a program with that capability, however, I have got a video converter to turn it into .SWF, so thats easy enough to upload here.

Could anyone help me turn the no sound version into an avatar? I'd use it for my YouTube account, so it should be under 256kb. Danké! Smile

This time I tried one from Molly Cunningham.  I know its crappy like the other one, but I'm still learning and I did it directly on the tablet.  You guys know how hard can that be without any gudes or anything at all.  Some people may say that is just a moving scribble , but I'm satisfied with the result anyway.   Cheers all! Wink

It took me 12 drawings for less than two seconds. Wow!

Sadly, your image loads only partially from Photobucket (only one frame, then the load hangs up)...
Can you upload it as an attachment, or it's too big?

Yeah, although it's still Photobucket, it managed to load this time Wink
Good work Smile It was worth it, at least because of her eyes, nicely looking. Yeah, it requires a lot of scribbles to make even the simplest animation... that's why I'm trying to move into different direction now, to learn another ways to make it Smile
As a recommendation - you can always make the final GIF cycled, just repeat the same sequence of images in reverse order. It would make it longer, and smooth. (Although, it would result with a bigger file.)
Nicely done!

I think this should do the job.  24 drawings now.  Like you say 12, then the same 12 in reverse order.  looks good, I think.  Thanks, Serge!

This is fantastic. All I can say.
I would praise myself if I was able to draw any of the frames used for this animation...
Anyway, very good proportions, nice (even a bit attractive Wink) character. My only nitpick is that that "separating" line on her tail disappears on few frames, if that can be called nitpick at all. Aside from that, it's great. Cute detail with those "tufts" on her shoulders, that suits her a lot Smile

nice work Omar, the animation is very soft (I can ask the number of frames per sec?) (los numeros de cuadros por segundo) .... the design of the character is good too Smile .. thanks by sharing...

me think that this is a detailed animation Omar, because each frame is a very good pic... wow... (y es en serio, cada cuadro está muy bien diseñado, me encanta) ....

I believe I used 24 frames, but this is a little bit over a sec of animation.  Almost two seconds.  For professional animation they use 24 frames per second, but I'm far away from that.  Still learning you know.   I enjoyed it anyway! Wink

Omar, Thanks a lot by the info.... and of course luck with next works, your art is very nice  Smile

err... Embarrassed, maybe a day , if you have free time, you can create a animation of lisa ... anyway is just a suggestion Big Grin (solo si tienes tiempo libre, eso si Omar, es solo un deseo egoista de mi parte, pero seria muy lindo ver algo asi Smile)

*gustavo sonrie de manera tímida... empieza a imaginar...que lisa saluda a gustavo en la animacion, en ese deseo infantil ,vive sin embargo un poquito de verdad ..... n_n ...

beatiful work Opus, please keep drawing  Tongue
