I'm new here, and I'd like to know: If Homer was to strangle Lisa once, would it be funny or cruel? Think of any reason that Homer would strangle Lisa.

Maybe in the situation pictured in 4F17 "The Old Man And The Lisa"? The very end, when Lisa denied money from Burns. Homer had multiple heart attack there. But if his heart was a bit stronger, we could see what you're asking about. Wink Simpsons family was never losing as much money.

I'm not sure if it would be cruel or funny. Depends on Lisa's reaction... if she was scared (most likely), it would be cruel. If she was angry, it would be funny, I guess.

Thank you for the welcome. By the way, yeah, if he DID have a stronger heart, he WOULD HAVE strangled her.
Wait. Think of some way that Homer could strangle Lisa. One that's funny!

No matter how hard i try, i just cannot see the image of Homer strangling Lisa in a humorous way. I really can't :\
Dunno why actually, maybe is because shes a little girl or maybe it's because we're so used about it with Bart. Still i couldn't see it in a funny light and it would shock me a tad.

I think I'd find it funnier if Lisa was to strangle Homer Smile

But the reason Dagdamor mentioned above is probably a justified reason as to why Homer would, or maybe when Lisa ruined Homers barbeque pig?

Having thought about it, I dont think I'd find it funny. But still, its an interesting topic for discussion. Smile

The writers have once tried to write a situation where Homer had to strangle Lisa, but they couldn't do it, so the worst they've done is call her a lying scumbag. (8F22)

It has now become a rule where only male characters on The Simpsons can endure physical pain. (Though we do see female characters physically hurt, but very rarely). And in Futurama, that rule is reversed where Male characters rarely get physically hurt, whereas Amy falls over a lot.  Tongue

When I was young, I learned that boys don't hit (or strangle) girls. Of course that doesn't mean that boys should hit other boys (or girls should hit boys), but it's not right to torture someone else, esp. if he or she is much weaker than you. I don't really like the extended stangling scenes we se nowadays, and I'd be really worried if Homer would strangle Lisa.  Sad

These are rules for real world (and they should be respected)... but in the cartoon it could be different.
For example, Bart and Lisa had fights many times in the show, and what they sometimes did in the Tracey Ullman Era is just beyond words. But that looked funny to me. Smile Of course Homer is a grownup man, but I don't see a major different between Homer strangling Bart and Homer strangling Lisa. Everything depends on the situation IMHO.

If Homer strangled Lisa it would be fairly disturbing, considering how close I think their relationship is. I know that Homer probably get's annoyed with Lisa a lot but he never shows any really nasty feeling towrds her, so for me, it would just be all kinds of wrong. However, the only time it could be funny is when for example, they all started strangling eachother, I can't remember the name of the ep. but that's when I could let it slide Big Grin

Stage director strangling Homer
Homer strangling brain *lol*

So Lisa's only strangled by Bart and that only once. She doesn't deserve it.
