I had thought many days, what I supposed to get as my birthday present.
My birthday is at March 23rd, what seems to be easter. Tongue

What you guys think?
Shall I get Playstation 3 or Nintendo Wii?

Every paper I read in the morning, I saw that Wii is cheaper than PS3.

PS3's price is here about 400?-500?, but Wii is 230?. Big Grin

PS3 will get GTA IV in April and Tekken 6 at the end of the year, but Wii has WarioWare!: Smooth Moves, Super Mario Galaxy and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

Just say to me, what I supposed to get this month? PS3 or Wii? Big Grin

Playstation 3 times a million billion.

But, yeah they're very expensive. My personal opinion is that the best games are all on Playstation. Plus, so long as you've got internet connection, playing online is free, which is nice.

Ultimately, its your choice, be thankful you have a choice! Tongue

Hmm... I'll agree with Casper. PS3 seems to be the best choice because of the graphics, veeeery realistic, despite the price. But, then again, you're the only one who can really choose what you want.

PS3 is the more sensible option. Wii is, by all accounts, more fun. Go PS3 and you'll get a blueray dvd player cheaper than any other way. Or go wii, and have funwith friends. Your choice.

According to my half-sister and my mom, they said Wii is good choice, because it's cheap and I will move a lot, because I must move the Wiimote up and down and left and right. Big Grin My brother said I supposed to get PS3, because it will have great games, like upcoming Grand Theft Auto 4, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Tekken 6. Big Grin

I think with you all opinions and my family's opinions are mixed, It seems to be PS3: 4 and Wii: 2. Big Grin

I will continue this, until I will made my mind, what I will get. Smile

Yeah, but there is one problem for that:

Mul on velkoja! (I have debts!) Eek

I will get my bills and debts out of my way, then I will think for either buying PS3 or Wii. Big Grin

Definitely a PS3. I can't say I've ever played it, but I'm already biased against the Wii. It may be cheaper, but really, I think in the end you'll find yourself a bit dissatisfied with it. It takes a lot to get used to the remote, and it wears out your arms too much. It's really just unnecessary hassle, and I don't think I'll ever be buying one.

Plus PS3 seems to have more interesting games. I've played on a Wii before, it wasn't much fun.

I hate the PS3. It has almost nothing that the xbox 360 doesn't have. They said that there was going to be exclusives that would bring the PS3 back up, but most of them have been re-announced to be on multi-platform. [Even FFXIII is going multiplatform, now!] The PS3 is just too expensive, and not worth it. I have a Wii and a 360, but I like the Wii the best. It has an entirely different game library compared to the 360 and PS3. The Wii is very fun to play, in my opinion, as well. It's getting a lot of cool games soon, too; Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, and if you like more mature games, No More Heroes is a good choice. I have a strong, STRONG bias against the PS3. But, if you just want good graphics, get a 360. It's a lot cheaper than the PS3, and it has a lot more games.

a vote for Wii here. Nintendo games have always been super fun and addictive, especially if played with friends. PS3 is a more "serious" and single player platform. Ultimately, it's about what kind of games you prefer Smile

Street Fighter 4 is being said that it will probably also come out on the Wii as well as the other platforms, now, in case you were worrying about that.

It's not so much that I think that PS3 is a great console. Matter of fact, I don't really know anything about it. But I do NOT like the Wii; maybe it has great games, but I wish they could've simply made another console with the traditional controllers, instead of this weird new remote... it's bizarre, tough to get used to, and just... bad, in my opinion.

Well, I'm old-fashioned like that. Tongue

I've played a PS3 and a Wii...
My brother owns a Xbox360 and I only play one game on it, Guitar Hero, as for any other games on there,...I don't like the actual Xbox controls much...
Imo I prefer the PS3 by a long shot to the other consoles, but then again, I'm bias as I'm just very very used to Playstation controls, therefore, I prefer it as it meant I was slightly better at the games Gigi

The Wii was Okay...but it just wasn't my kind of thing, I didn't have much interest in it really, but then again I am not a big gamer...used to be a Crash Bandicoot addict till I had to start exams and found less and less time to place on the Playstation...

The PS3 however, is very expensive though, and it kinda baffles me as to why game consoles, good as they are, are that pricey Confused, but then I don't know anyone yet who hasn't regretted buying a PS3...

Sorry, I know my words aren't much use since I'm not exactly a Gamer, but, felt I'd contribute anyway...

Looks like this is gonna be a though choice to me. Big Grin

But however, I had entered to a contest, that the first prize is Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for Wii, If I win this game, I will give it to my brother, Miikka as a birthday gift, because he's loves to play Resident Evil games. Big Grin Miikka has a birthday on March 17th. He will be 20 years old. Big Grin Miikka and I will held our birthdays at Good Friday, a friday before easter. Big Grin

I can match any PS3 exclusive with a similar game that's an exclusive on the Wii or 360.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Super Mario Galaxy
GTA4 - No More Heroes
Tekken 6- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Skyhawk- Ace Combat 6
Metal Gear Soid 4 - [Okay, I'm sorry, not much can really match up with MGS... The closest thing in the genre to it is "Vampire Rain", but VR's a terribly stupid game, IMO]

EA's game 'Skate.' for the PS3? Its on the Xbox also but you have to pay for Xbox Live, unlike the PS3.

I wont get into a debate about which is best, because I like the idea of the Wii. It is an active way of playing games rather than sitting and pressing buttons. Tongue Its genuenly a good idea. I first described it as 'a method of turning teenagers into couch potatoe's, clicking a remote', but its the opposite really, very active way of playing games. Smile

I'm bias towards the PS3 because, number 1; I've been raised side by side with playstations of old. And number 2; I own one. And I'd probably be reluctant to admit that such a vast amount of money was a waste. Wink But its made me happy so far. Smile

The thing I like about the playstation 1 and 2 was that it had huge exclusive 3rd party support for its console. That seems to be absent from the PS3. It doesn't seem to have any good sony-exclusive developers anymore, besides insomniac. They all have gone over to the 360 and Wii, mainly because it doesn't take as much effort to program games for those consoles. The PS3 is difficult to program games that use its full potential for many reasons.

1. As I have heard, the PS3 has 2 different processors that divide up the memory. [256 mb on each], as opposed to 512 mb on a single processor on the 360. Utilizing and switching between both processors is a difficult task, when not simply using one for the main game, and the other as a backup, in case the first is overloaded. Essentially, the Sega Saturn had the same problem.

2. The graphical capabilities are more than developers want to spend their time on. Of course, I would be an idiot to say that the PS3 worse graphics than the 360 [Not by much, though]. However, it's got more power than developers want to use. They want it to be easy to make a good game on a console, and not spend too much time and money on it. There are a few games that have done this [Shenmue, for example], but it usually is a loss for developers in the end. They go to the 360 and Wii so they don't feel pressured to take a game farther than it needs to go.

3. Current popularity of other consoles. A developer makes a game, and naturally, wants it to be a success. So, they take it and put it on consoles that more people have, so they can expose it to as much of the market as they can. [Of course, I'm not referring to multiplatform games, as they are exempt from this rule]. If they can get the game available to more people, then it has a better chance of doing well. The PS3 is last place in sales, so developers are most likely hesitant to make games for it.

Nope. The PS3 has 1 CPU with 8 cores, of which 1 is disabled to improve yields and 1 is reserved for the OS. The Xbox 360 also has 1 CPU, but with only 3 cores. The PS3 does have 512MB in total, but 256 MB of it is dedicated memory for the gfx card and the other 256 MB is for the rest of the system.

You should go for the console which has the most games/genres on it that you like. Asking us which one you should buy is kind of pointless, because the choice of a console is personal.

Suusje is right, we all have different opinions about these things. But I can only say from personal experience, I havent noticed any defects in performance, or anything like that.

Though, I will say I dont think its fair to say that "so they don't feel pressured to take a game farther than it needs to go", because a games console is designed to survive the test of time, where games are becoming graphicaly better all the time due to new technology in the games creation. For example, Gran Turismo 1 vs. Gran Turismo 2. Same console (PS1), but graphics, and gameplay are improved in the sequal. Games *should* be designed to be the best they can be, at the time they are conceived. And I think this applies to ALL the consoles, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii etc, with no exceptions. Who would want to play a half-assed game?

Sorry for the offtopic  Embarrassed

But Miikka, my big brother wanted something intresting on Wii, so I bought today another game on Wii: Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. my brother played it first, before he had to go to work. Tongue

Also there's Wii Sports, which been included with the Wii console. Big Grin

i have to admit, the Wii (if not for the sake of it's name) is rather cool. the motion control is innovative, but it has its problems. You might find this out on Wii golf that you can still swing the club with the strength of the hulk if you swing the wii-mote backwards even very slowly. so they need to work on it a bit, but still cool system.
