Yes, shamelessly ripped from NHC Post the last Simpsons episode you watched and grade it! Some tiny rules to prevent this topic from turning into a mess: - Please give some feedback explaining why you liked or didn't like an episode. It doesn't have to be a long explanation as long as it isn't just some oneliner like 'This is the best episode ever!' or 'This episode sucks badly!'
- If you've watched another episode and there haven't been posted any new replies since your last post, please just edit your last post.
I'll start... Moe 'N' A Lisa: 4/5It was a decent episode with some funny jokes. The only part I didn't like, was when Moe wouldn't give Lisa any credit for the poet she created for him. That made Lisa extremely sad. But in the end he apologized, so I guess it's still a happy end

Lard of the Dance
8.5/10.
Actually, quite a good episode. I liked the fact that Allison not only appeared, but talked again in this episode.

Treehouse of Horror XVII. I've heard very different responses about this episode - from gushing praise to really nasty bashing, and my curiosity won in the end. I've spend 30 Mb of my traffic downloading it, and don't regret about that. The episode wasn't brilliant (my greatest complaint is the excessive violence across the whole episode), but wasn't bad either, I liked all three stories, and some moments (for example, when Marge suggested to act like animals to save from the alien invasion) made me laugh out loud. Heh, that moment made me worry a bit... I subconsciously waited for Lisa to act the same - who knows what writers will decide this time, it's Halloween after all - but thankfully, that didn't happen. Again, the episode wasn't scary at all, and that's no good imho, but all three stories were developed properly. Plus, great intro. I grade this THOH 4/5. P.S. I think Suusje's episode will be the next one I'll download

Yes, I know that's funny, but last episode which I saw was "Jazzy And The Pussycats". I liked this episode. Later probably I going to write here what I wrote on Russian forum about this episode.

Ice Cream Of Margie (With The Light Blue Hair): 4.5/5This was a suprisingly funny episode. Although it's another "Homer lost his job/marriage problems" episode, it has been done in a good way this time. It contained a lot of good jokes and a decent storyline. The only bad thing is that Marge learns a new skill way too fast. This seems to be a new trend in season 18 (it also happened in "Please Homer, Don't Hammer 'Em" and "Jazzy And The Pussycats"). But other than that it's a great episode. This has been the best episode of season 18 so far

*Kick!* The last reply is from 30 november, so I thought I might as well bring some life back into this topic. The Wife Aquatic: 2.5/5I like almost every Simpsons episode, but this one was so meh that it actually made it to my list of mediocre episodes. It has a disjointed plot, the whole episode feels like it's going way too fast and they used too much CGI animation (I personally do not like that). But it's not all bad. The characterisation is pretty good, except for Flanders' lines at the beginning, and the part where Lisa asks "Yum-Yum fish?" was incredibly cute. But that doesn't make up for the bad parts of the episode... I'm looking forward to the next new episode, which will air on January 28th.

Hmm letseee... "Grade school Confidential", I watched a few nights ago I'ld give it 3.5/5Now, I don't think there's any season 8 episodes I greatly dislike, however, I felt that in comparison to other episodes, such as Hurricane Neddy, Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(do'h)cious..... it just doesn't match up, but a good episode overall. However, the plot was very well errr plotted out Fitted together nicely if that makes any sense, and the story itself was quite sweet, and I like how Skinner's character is shown as more independant from his mother here (unlike more recent episodes) It also had quite a few good gags in it ( I espcially love Ralph's line but..I won't post it here ) So yeah, not a bad episode Though guess I'm bias as in comparison to the new episodes, I prefer all the older ones What I also prefer is the animation...not sure how to describe it os obviously, the quality wasn't as sharp and clean as it is today..but it seems more fluid, isn't rigid, and is somewhat easier on the eyes

A couple nights ago I watched again Homer vs. the Eighteenth Amendment...I'd give it a 3/5Not quite the best episode I've seen, it had some good parts though, especially Rex Banner... ("Well, you all know what laughter sounds like!" ) Although a few parts and things I didn't like, especially the bit where the whole family tells Lisa to go to her room, and she's not even given a chance to act. After that she only gets one more line in the entire episode. This was one case where I think the writers brought her in just to bash. Also, upon listening to the commentary, one person said that in the scene where Marge and Lisa confront Homer and Bart, Lisa's head is "inside" the square of an end table in the background... they said that "this is because Lisa is a square". I can think of many occasions where she acted very... un-squarish...

'Scuse me while I miss the sky 4/5 The last time I watched Simpsons it was on May 11. o.o (shame on me)
I enjoyed this episode, and it's in my top 10 list. It kinda sends a message that if there is something you desire, you should stop at no end to reach your goal. Plus, I enjoyed the meteor shower scenes at the end of the episode. But, I wish I knew the title of the song that played during then, I'd like to give it a download into my playlist. Would anybody happen to know? ^^

According to ULOC's music reference list (much more up to date than the list on SNPP!) it's "Don McLean - Vincent" from 1972.

*bump* Lisa's Sax - 4,5/5Wonderful episode. I've seen this one countless times now and it just doesn't stop being a great episode. I really like the story about Lisa's sax (and the music at the end of the episode ofcourse). Adding Abe was a bit pointless, but he provided some laughs. It's definitely an episode you should watch if you haven't seen it yet!

I hope it stays alive this time. The Secret War Of Lisa SimpsonLisa becomes a real outcast in this episode, which is kind of sad. But Bart keeps supporting her, despite of losing the acceptance of the other kids that way. There are also some nice Lisa and Bart moments in this episode. It's not really a funny episode, but it's still a sweet one.

I saw yesterday evening My Fair Laddy. It's the last episode i saw of the simpsons (in proper cronological order), and i enjoyed it quite a bit, it made me laugh in quite a lot of occasions, and i really enjoyed that Willie got to be a primary character for once. His plot was developed very well, the songs were funny. Of course the part that worked well was Lisa's interaction with Willie and his struggle to gain a social status, do the first two acts of the episode. The final "revelation" and the inevitable "descent" that brings all the character back to normal was of course expected and predictable but still well done with some clever jokes there, too. All in all, it was throughly enjoyable! The Hoemr subplot, frankly, i couldn't care less for. It was rather dull and poorly written except for when he was struggling to join the song. So that takes away a bit from the grading. :\ I'd give it a 3,5/5!

Ok...the last Simpson episode I watched was "Secrets of a Successful Marriage" Quite a Homer/Marge relationship based episode which may have its sweet moments but also some quite bad moments from Homer... Homer is however, naive about what he's doing is wrong for the impression of the reaction he gets from this, is that what he is doing is a good thing...and Homer not being the quickest of people...takes everything the wrong way and ends up making Marge mad and upset... For someone who is like me in a relationship, and/or has experienced any parent troubles at all,...the episode has a somewhat bigger impression on you.... but the ending is a happy one I also love the animation style around these older seasons, as they have more character... This episode includes many characters however a few seem a little out of place (Such as Smithers being in Homer's class however he was used for a joke purpose only really...) I'll give it a 4/5, as it's probably a more emotion based rather than comedy based episode, but makes you think throughout... I'm sorry if my review just confuses people though since, I'm not exactly one for explaining things clearly

Black_raven"I'm sorry if my review just confuses people"Don't think about it, for me your review is ok. As for me - I saw yesterday's night the ep. called "Make Room for Lisa". What to say, that's classics for the whole Lisa-adorers [description]Maybe domeone doesn't remember the plot, I say a pair words. Because of Homer's usual dumbness he's got to pay a lot of money to Smithsonian museum. The company of mobile-telephony takes his duties and for that he's obliged to deploy an aerial which is placed right in Lisa's room. The whole mess causes her to fall with a stonach-ache and the way out for her is finded - to stay some time in a special isolated capsule. And during such her self-exploration she realises that sometimes and she is not so good in dialogue and acts quite impatiently...[/description] My opinion. The whole plot maybe not so great to make Lisa go for self-exploration (which is, I believe, one of the main points in the episode), but it work and it's quite funny (and logical at the end:) ). The personages are shown typically for middle-time episodes: Homer is definitely dumb and very self-confident and he looks so petty. Marge uses to be a typical heusewife, she's being interested with a gossips which she takes because of antenna in their house. And to be fair her plot with Bart was not so bad, especially in the end of a story (well, maybe that was pretty harsh she dealed with Milhouse).. But the main character of the episode is Lisa and she showed in not great, then at least pretty well. She's indignant, close to be fair and, as it was in all classic middle-episodes, uses to be a 'keeper of the principles'. The scene when she doesn't understand Homer's fun (when the nasty animal-related incident was shown at TV) was some kind of _determinative_ for me. Men, it's so in her character, I simply fall in love again every time I see such powerful and true moments with her... She shows her wish for studying instead of stupid pastime which her father suggests to her. And that's another scene I adore so much (and to be fair she looks so cute when lying on her belly in the living room). But the "second" part of the story, when both they have gone to the "Carmaceutics" shop was significant too. That little self research makes her to realise who she is and how calmly she must be with people who doesn't understand her (no matter becasue of what..). And final scene when she hugs her dad was really joyous. That's a nice episode. - 4,2...4,4 of 5

Watched several days ago - 1F12 Lisa vs. Malibu StaceyOne of those good old episodes. I can't say I completely liked it, half of the plot was dedicated to Abe Simpson, and for some reason I look skeptically at jokes involving old people. But the main plot (Lisa creating her own doll, Lisa Lionheart) was very interesting. It had many great jokes, for example when Homer was demonstrating that rocket plaything to Maggie. But the ending was sad. Lisa has failed, her doll didn't become popular, thanks to the cheap advertising trick her competitors made. Smithers' behavior was especially annoying there - his yell in the end of the episode, in the shop, was the last thing that killed the Lisa Lionheart's success. If you collect dolls, you should understand which collectible is decent and which is just a cheap modification, and not just drag home everything with the "Malibu Stacey" mark on it. Anyway, Lisa's yet another attempt to make people around her a bit better, has failed. And interesting moment: when Marge was calming Lisa down at the dinner table, she says "Now let's forget our troubles with a big bowl of strawberry ice cream" phrase. Right after that, Lisa shows that doll and makes her say exactly the same. But just before that scene, Lisa thrown her doll out, and she didn't have another one, second, Marge couldn't hear that phrase from the doll, and when she was young, there were no talking dolls yet.

DagdamorI remember that scene, Dag. Very good and mind provoking episode! This is what I think: Malibu Stacy is clearly based on Barbie, even though all the dates don't match. Even if Marge didn't own a talking doll when she was a kid, (but why not, in the Simpsons' universe it could make sense that talking Malibu Stacy was produced earlier than talking Barbie!) she heard similar phrases from her mother, who was as we all know worse than Barbie and Malibu Stacy put together. Barbie was invented by a woman that is Marge's mother's generation, and this kind of sexism was everyday food in the 50s. So the doll (Barbie and Malibu) was very much inspired by the times it was made in. Lisa expresses her anger towards this kind of outlook on life, not the doll itself. The episode was loosely based on an actual event that angered many women. From Wikipedia: "Malibu Stacy is a parody of Barbie in the cartoon series The Simpsons. In the 1994 episode Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy, a talking Stacy doll is introduced, speaking phrases such as "let's buy make-up so the boys will like us". Lisa is disgusted by the "sexist drivel spouted by Malibu Stacy," leading her to market an alternative "Lisa Lionheart". The episode is based loosely on the controversy surrounding Teen Talk Barbie from 1992."" In July 1992 Mattel released Teen Talk Barbie, which spoke a number of phrases including "Will we ever have enough clothes?", "I love shopping!", and "Wanna have a pizza party?" Each doll was programmed to say four out of 270 possible phrases, so that no two dolls were likely to be the same. One of these 270 phrases was "Math class is tough!" Although only about 1.5% of all the dolls sold said the phrase, it led to criticism from the American Association of University Women. In October 1992 Mattel announced that Teen Talk Barbie would no longer say the phrase, and offered a swap to anyone who owned the doll."I read the whole article, it is so mind-boggling and downright disturbing. That doll has brainwashed many little girls. If you have a little sister that owns Barbie, Brats or something equally worrying, please burn it and replace with a music instrument!!! Here's the article for those interested in what (among other things) ruined womens revolution: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbie

The Latest Treehouse of Horror The first segment was just hilarious, and I loved the second one. I liked the idea of Marge being a hitman. She was also really sexy in that black dress. (I admit, I have a small crush on marge as well, but it is no where near how I love Lisa) The third one was funny, but I was so ashamed of Lisa being subjected to such torture, all she has ever done is good.

The Separate Vocations The episode in perfection showing that people of uncommon mind can try oneselves the mask of hooligans with ease. And they'll act on this time not less professionally than the hooligans themselves. This, by the way, suggests me an idea that not all who badly went to school - is stupid. There are different scopes of intelligence and everyone considers by itself on what way to follow in a life. I am not surprised that Lisa suddenly became "the bad girl", all of us perfectly saw, that it has been caused. I'm not consider that it is something bad, everyone has the moments of weakness, when you are simply knocked down. However, I have understood for myself once again one of the main ideas of this episode. If the person is really clever and has already proved itself as "the positive person", other people will help it when he will stumble. As it did Bart for Lisa - she has not had time to open mouth as he already interceded for her, taking all fault on himself. I connect another intersting moment with definition of future destiny of Lisa. To be honest, I'm not so sure that the fate of housewife is so bad and unachievable to her. Remember what said Declan Desmond in "'Scuse Me While I Miss the Sky"? That Lisa is something like smorgasbord (or something such - I don't have the original text) That can do for her a bad turn when it came to choose the future vocation, don't you think so? Will she become an scientist-environmentalist, the office employee, the teacher in junior grades or someone else? Still, I think positively she'll be a president in future.

Moe'N'a Lisa
A great episode, it has many hilarious moments, I especially loved the J Jonah Jameson parody. but, it has many emotional Lisa moments. I can't get over how saddening it is when I see her crying after Moe crosses her. When she is crying with the wagon passing by, and when she is sitting sad on the bench, tossing bread in the water, I just wanted to jump into the TV and give her a big hug. I felt so sorry for her, but it it still has its fair share of cute, precious Lisa moments, and is a must watch for any Lisa lover. 4/5

I just saw this one too. It's a nice episode, although the second part was a bit pointless. Lisa looked very cute as a witch in the third part. Homer getting his head stuck in Ploppers behind was kind of meh, though... :S
