Despite the decent attendance, our forum has really low activity last days, sadly. I prefer to discuss a problem publicly before it started to threaten the whole project, so I'm asking you - what caused that, in your opinion? If we need more topics here, I can create them. If you aren't interested much in the whole forum idea - please tell that, we'll try to think of something. Just don't keep silence, because that's the worst thing that forum members can do for the forum. Thanks Lisa

That's true, but still... this could explain low attendance, but not low activity. In other words, some people know about the place, but don't post almost anything for the last few days. I'm trying to understand the reason - maybe they are losing interest, maybe they are too busy (which is usually the same thing Wink), maybe it's something else.

Well, the reason for me is I am pretty busy now with school and 6th form but I do try to post when I can. Also I guess the place could do with a few more topics but that's my only idea on improovment. Smile

Nah, the forum is great - but I'm indeed busy as well. Just wait for Christmas or so, when things finally slow down a bit, and everyone has more time for the family, and of course for Lisa as well. Smile

I don't think there are any problems with the forum, in fact it's shaping up to be great place!   I think the lack of activity is just one of those slow spells that all forums go through at times, I wouldn't worry about it.   In fact I'm seriously impressed that such a nice community has developed here in such a short time.   I certainly don't have any complaints at how the forum is run, I think you and Marco are doing a great job  Lisa

I've been very busy with schopol projects lately, so I haven't  been able to post much. Also, I agree with JW, this forum is good already. In fact, if this forum was advertised elsewhere, then jerks might start coming in and ruin it for all the kind people that are already here.

Sorry for my little contribution to the forum activity... despite being online here for at least 3 hours a day, finding things to say is quite hard without being depicted as a troll :/

Nether-the-less, try harder I shall.

The forum is fine Daggy, it is more that people are a bit busy, plus you moved the server and that stopped me from even accessing it. I too have been very busy, taking tests for college and prepping my stuff to move and finding a new job in a new town, and dealing with it with almost no money. So dont worry about the forum's activity, it will get all sorted out in time.

For me, its the theme that does it. It's too "default" you should create a new theme, and being the PHP nerd that you are Dag, it should be simple to create one. Tongue

PHP programming and designing a forum theme are different things. Sad Designing is closer to art rather than coding...
I don't think another theme will force anyone post more. It's topics and posts what makes forum, not the decoration. But I'll try nevertheless to do something with that once I have some free time. Wink

Agreed. It might be the default theme, but hey, it's nice and simple, and everything works fine. We have some Simpsons smileys, and we have a Lisa-themed "new" icon. What else do we need? Lisa

I think that they might be right daggy. I would love to be able to use a new theme design. Or maybe just make it so that every member could choose their own theme. I know that most forums have a bunch of themes that can be downloaded for free from the main host.

I just don't believe that a "default" forum theme is going to prevent the majority people posting.   Sure, different themes are a bit fun, but the main attraction of any forum is it's content and the content on here is very good.   I actually rather like the current theme (though I'm not against an alternative, time allowing) and as long as things work both technically and as a community, the cosmetics can wait!

IMO, the best theme is the one you don't notice at all. A forum is not a website, and the one and only purpose of a forum is to communicate with each other. It's like with a cellphone... there are thousands of different models and designs, and there surely are some that you like more and some that you don't like that much. But when it comes to actually using the phone, does it matter how it looks like? The answer is: No - because you don't even see it, when holding next to your ear! Wink There's no difference to a forum - as long as it doesn't hurt the eye, and you find all options easily, I don't think there's a need to change anything. Smile

Maybe this should be a vote. But either way, my opinion firmly believes a theme will either kill, or de-grade this forum.
 - Because, this is easy to use, not unpleasent and like Andreas said its almost unnoticable. Meaning nobody's going to get sick of it.

I believe that it is not the good looks that define a forum so much as the quality of the members. I'd register at a mediocrely- styled forum with kind, helpful members [Like this one], as opposed to a dazzlingly-designed forum with really mean, insulting members [Like KLS] any day.

that is very true AP, but I think a few new themes would make this great site a bit better. Mind you I know that it is a strictly asthetic thing, but it would be nice to see a new design when i log on sometimes. I switch my computer's background and settings every few days so that it doesn't get stagnant. But still it is only asthetics that I am looking at. Maybe there should be something special about this place, besides the fact that it is Lisa world. Smile

If Gary will make a new SMF theme, he will use it on his own forum, I'm afraid. Tongue
So it's me and Marco who should care about new forum themes. Again, I'll consider creating another one if some members need it, just not right now, sorry... maybe in the beginning of the next year. And hey, the current theme isn't so bad imho. Smile The color palette is different, and we have our own icons and smileys.

Sorry about the inactivity the past sevral days.
I've been super busy with schoolwork, friends, and art recently.
Plus I thought I would take advantage of the more snow that I've gotten.
I try to post when I can but sometimes I can only get on for maybe five minutes at a time to check my e-mail and my NeoMail over at Neopets. I'll admit I'm a little more active there than I am here.  Unsure
But again, I'll try to be a little more active. It's just a little hard for me. Tongue

This place sure needs some extra attention lately...
I looked through the topics list today searching for something interesting to me personally, but... found only three or four such topics, others were either "too far" from me, or I already replied there and they didn't change much since then. Time to claim an alert once again Wink
Seriously, we probably need more topics, not necessary Lisa-related (though the latter is also good). I will try to raise something interesting from my russian forum, and also recommend this and this since these topics have left almost unnoticed while were still very interested. But if you feel you want to discuss something, please don't hesitate to create a new topic, I'm sure it will be appreciated Smile

Well, it's true that Serge cares about this forum a whole lot, so it's natural that he's a bit scared when he sees that activity falls a bit Wink

But i hope no one of you feels "obliged" to post even if they don't want:
So, in particular don't feel guilty, KDL. I'd say your personal problems (especially school) come first! So, good luck with them and take care!  Lisa

I won't be on very often the next couple of days, because the internet doesn't work here anymore and the guys of the technical support of Demon (my internetprovider) said it would take 3 to 5 days to fix it...

Again, I'm sorry for being so quiet last days. Sad
Just wanted to say, I visit LTS often, and read everything people post here. (I'm glad the first LisaCon entry is already up, and Gustavo's latest picture is wonderful as ever, and I was so very amused reading those two beautiful Lisa-related discussions. Smile) I just don't have much time to post a decent reply, my work and attempts to revive another forum after the server crash take it all. Sorry! I hope I will be more active here soon. Smile

I'ld also like to take the chance to apologise for being so quite and inacctive recently for so far, this has been a very busy half term for me, and I haven't even got round to finishing off Rizzy's art trade yet,  Embarrassed (So again, sorry Rizzy!)

Just so much has happened on the weekend and I have been set ALOT of homework to do before certain deadlines next week, it's also why I am not entering the Lisa con, although I really wanted to, I just don't have the time Sad So again, very sorry, I will try to be more active once I'm back in my usual routine and have a bit less homework Smile
