I think its understood that I say not only about girls, but all who feels sometimes exactly like Lisa and who tries to act like she. I said it in other thread but I think its worthy to reply. If you are polite, lonely, misunderstood, a bit intellectual and seeking for more knowledge about this world, spreading your mental horizons, if you interested to uncover the people's good sides, not all indiscriminately, but at least the ones who deserve it - therefore you can call yourself as 'lisa-like person'. What do you think ?

I'm definitely the "Lisa" in my family, and when my brother was younger, he often acted like Bart, although maybe not to that extent. Also, my parents act a lot like Homer and Marge; as I said somewhere else recently, it's almost eerie to see so many similarities between the Simpsons (as they have been portrayed in the first few seasons) and my family.

I don't play an instrument (never had any talent for that), but I read a lot and care about the environment. I was always among the smartest kids in school and got good grades without studying too hard, and I was always bad in gym classes, which I hated. Widening my knowledge and spreading my mental horizon is very important to me, and as Lisa, I love science (astronomy in particular). I'm not too fond of horses, but I like cats, and I am rather lonely and misunderstood, like her. The voice of reason is important for me, and I hate wars and people fighting, while they should try to understand each other and find a good compromise for all parties.

Thanks to you too for the response. Indeed, families quite similar in all, no matter of the state or country it uses to be. Still I can't say I read a lot, at least the paper books is not my friends now when it's able simply to click on the screen and not to strain eyes (I'm already shortsighted)

I suppose in terms of, my family, I'm the person with the most in common with her;

I'm the second born of three siblings. I have the highest level of education of our family (Reached the end of A-levels, which isnt that high really). I love cats, and have a black cat myself. I play an instrument, though not nearly half as well as her. And I have virtualy no 'real life' friends (most of them are online. ).

Though, these similarities only make themselves appear when your looking for them. I dont think I have much in common with Lisa... or at least, in comparison with the things I dont have in common with her.
She's still a role model though

This sounds pathetic, but after reading this topic, I tried to look at myself as honestly as possible, and came to sad conclusion: I have almost nothing in common with Lisa. At least lately. I would love to be like her, but I'm not. We have only two things in common - we like animals and we're vegs. But that's all. The most noticeable traits in my character are laziness and indifference. I don't think Lisa would enjoy comparing herself with that. I'm glad there are people who are like Lisa, though. It's really nice, she's one of the best examples to follow.

Guilty as well Sometimes at school I get so tired or sick of what we're doing or stressed out about other things that I just put my head down and shut out the world, usually while the teacher is lecturing. I know this is very "un-Lisalike" but as Andreas said, we're just human.

I think it's not so much that I don't want to learn anything, I really don't have a problem with listening to the teacher ... but sometimes I let my mind wander, and it's impossible to bring it back to the present. Other times I just have so much on my mind, things or situations happening outside the classroom, that I constantly think about ... and that tends to distract me.

I do my best to focus on what the teacher is saying as long as I have the willpower for it. Most of the time I do, sometimes I don't. The one thing I have to be grateful though is that my teachers don't require you to take notes; it's your own choice. Often times I do, but it's somewhat of a relief to know that you don't have to if you feel like you can't. Because sometimes I feel like if I were forced to ... I'd scream.

I did become an honorary "Lisa" once in a former job (long story)!  Does that count?? LOL

Seriously, if you were to ask any of my closest relatives they would say I was more like Bart and my sister was more like Lisa, but in my view we've both got a bit of both Bart and Lisa in us.

I'm probably not THAT much like Lisa really but there are occasions when I feel I can relate to her character if that makes any sense...

That's the way I look at it It's nice to feel a sense of freedom, it makes me at least a bit more relaxed. And you're right that it requires maturity on the part of the other students to not abuse it, fortunately though, it seems like enough people are taking notes to convince the teacher that it's effective. That or, they just don't care

Hm, maybe I'll try that. I'm not much of the writing type ... I mean, I can write well and all, I'm just never satisfied with what I can produce. And I have incredibly low self-esteem, so I can redo something a thousand times and never be satisfied. I do have ideas and all, just ... never can seem to put them down on paper very well.

Eheheh... up 'til the age of 16 I went to a school where the students had virtually full control over how they study. The only requirement is that once a week you have to report your progress and present a quick plan for the next week (to your appointed "mentor"). If you wanted to go to seminars, you're free to do so. If you want to study independently, no problem. A mixture? Sure! Mainly we worked with computers or we printed the files we needed from the network, it was all quite well organized really. Problem is that anyone below the age of 18 should not be able to have this kind of freedom unless they've made it clear that they can handle it. The students grades at this school are awful, they spend most of their weeks doing nothing. They hacked the school network and are bypassing the board's monitoring of the student accounts, surfing around the net, chatting and playing games in the computer labs. Well 'nuff about that.

On the topic itself...? I dunno, I'm like Lisa on the fact that I love learning things... which is really the only thing I can genuinely enjoy doing. That is not to say I don't enjoy anything else, just that I feel like I'm wasting my time when doing other stuff. Where I trail off is on the point that I don't care enough to do anything... I'm not working for a nonexistent future. Not going in depth there, but when I'm content with the situation and the thought of a future I can be productive, when I'm not... I'm a sorry ghost. Lisa is driven by some matter of happiness, I don't have it.
My so called "IQ" is nowhere near Lisa, it's higher than average, but it's kept at bay by the intertia that is my lack of focus. Slow but efficient they say, average I say.
Friends? Strictly online, the only one I speak to on a regular basis lives in Israel and is doing his 3 year army service... poor thing. ;( Get to hear from him once every or every second week. Living copy of me except for his sporadic cynicism. Shared diagnosis, personality, problems and everything. ^-^
LTS is probably the most regular convention I visit. Only encounters with people in real life (apart from family/if someone speaks to me at school XD) is band practice once a week, don't really know anyone there anymore, and I hate spending time around them or other people, it always makes me feel bad.
Music! I enjoy playing jazz as a little bit of a mood enhancer in the background, but it's by no means my favorite music. I mostly listen to blues-rock, progressive rock/metal, alternative rock/metal, punk rock, post hardcore, any rock that is a bit off really, it mostly depends on whether I like the band or not. Even though rock is what I mostly listen to, my favorite genre is classical music. Not any classical music, I'm highly selective there.

I sound so pessimistic when I talk about myself, so I'm gonna stop here. Everyone's misunderstood, language fails us, we fail ourselves.

as much as i'd like to, i dont have much of Lisa, not as much as i'd like

I'm sensible and i think i'm kind of smartm but i'm overly lazy, i like to play too much, i hate having responsabilities, at school i was very underachieving, since i passed with the least possible grades.
I like just living my life without too many cares, o dont search for strong emotions, i like staying around my loved ones, i like staying alone, i like good food and some alcol from time to time...

Being the oldest of 3 boys in my family doesn't give me a strong arguement point for being like Lisa. However, I have enjoyed reading for as long as I can recall, in fact I always had a high reading comp., reaching 12th grade equivalency by 3rd caught some eyes. My father was a nuke tech when I was growing up and I was versed in basic nuclear physics before I was 8. I too was a social outcast (though I've grown into a comfortable social persona) and always felt left out of things.
