Recently I have finished a series and the ending was pretty intense. But alot of great TV shows and movies have those moments where you're pacing the room with your hands over your mouth. So I was wondering, what moments have made your heart stop, or you maybe gasp "NO WAY" It doesn't unnecessarily have to be from the Simpsons, any TV, movie, preview, or a book even. Come, sit down and share your stories! XD I'll list mine after I've seen other peoples stories. (let's see how far this topic can go, probably won't be very popular... >.< )

I dig this topic:p. Yes I have had that feeling many times, mostly in many anime series'. Fullmetal Alchemist, s-cry-ed, and cowboy bebop did it to me so many times that I felt like i had died along with the character. as far as books go, the only ones that I had read was something like H.P.lovecraft, which the whole thing was a horror story and it made you spin around untill you almost puked. Simpsons wise, mostly stories like FLWS, and LF made it happen too, but I know that anyone that read those felt it too (it was impossible not to feel it). if I think of anything else that I have watched or whatever, i will post again here.

Speaking of TV shows, I think my most intense/thrilling moments were when I was watching Star Trek - namely "The Best Of Both Worlds" (the Next Generation cliffhanger episode where Picard was transformed into a Borg) and Deep Space Nine's "In Purgatory's Shadow"/"By Inferno's Light". There surely where some others, but I remember those two best, when I was sitting with my mouth open, just thinking "Holy ****!"

Hm, well I'm sure I could name some much better ones than this, but since it's the only one coming to mind at the moment...
Last Friday I saw The Mist. Naturally, being a fan of Stephen King and having read the story, I went to see the movie in hopes that it would do the story some justice. While I can't say that I sat there at times and said "NO WAY!", there were parts of such blatant and immediate violence that surprised me. Moments when someone had their leg very abruptly torn off, leaving them a screaming wreck just gushing blood, and other times, though I'm sure you know what I mean. Parts like this just left me sitting there thinking, simply, "Oh, fuck".
For those of you who are curious, the movie promised to be a wonderful adaptation of the short story, and would have gone down as a great movie in my book... if not for the ending. I mean, they made it through the whole movie following the story perfectly, and then they had to change the ending in such a way that it made the whole film into the most horrifically depressing movie I have ever had the displeasure of viewing. If they had simply left the ending the way it was in the story (which was very open-ended, I like that in books/movies), it would have been a terrific movie.
Don't take my word for it though. Go see it.

upon looking at a bunch of my old video game systems, I also found a few that left me wondering or at least wanting so much more that I could literally feel it destroying my heart. As of late, one of those games was Half Life 2. I have been playing constantly and have beaten the first one. The ending made me want to play the next one so badly that I went out and bought the next one the next day. The other game series that I kept playing over and over again is the starfox series. I can still to this day play it 100 times a day and never get tired of any of them. In starfox 64 I must have played the last level "Venom" well over 248 times by now. For some reason the story line and music coupled with the fact that I could play as my favorite type of character made the game "furpect". After it ended, i wanted to know where the team went off to, where did their next adventure lie? it always made me say "No-way" when fox sees his father again.

Well Rizzy, off the top of my head, and since you've finished to watch the series recently, i'd say the end of the Death Note episode 7 called "Clouded Sky". Never have i witnessed such intense moment in anime... Light is such an awesome character. And a bettore "NO WAY" moment was the end of the anime itself, with the realization of the loss. Wonderful, wonderful. i'll rewatch it.

Never have i witnessed such intense moment in anime... Light is such an awesome character. Ooh, I'm working my way through this at the minute too. Only at number 6 though. Anyways, for manga/anime I'd have to add the ending of habiane renmei (it really took me by surprise) and the battle between Mimura and Kiriyama in Battle Royal (although the ending with Kiriyama was pretty cool too). For non-anime, well, Shawshank Redemption was amazing the first time through (better than the book I'd say, though they're pretty close), and I think I'll always remember the first time King starts narrating from the perspective of pennywise in IT, just because it was such a surprise (having gone through nine hundred or so pages of narration from other characters before hand).

Well for me Fullmetal Alchemist episodes 50 "Death", and 51 "Laws and Promises" made me hit the floor. When Ed died and was slowly fading to the other side of the gate, you could just feel the world turn white all around you, like you yourself were dying. I'll add some spoiler tags since some people are working on the series, they can read it at their own risk. And Death Note episodes 25 "Silence" and the last one, 37 "New World" were by far intense death scenes. I think Light's whole changing the world for the better thing went to his head, and totally made him lose it. Which kinda made me laugh and ask if someone can really be that nuts? (That crazy look I think I've seen before. ) But after Light was laying on the steps as Ryuk wrote his name in the Death Note, that vision of L walking towards Light and the music in the background made my bottom lip quiver just a tiny bit.
But when L is dying in 25, the look on Lights face as he was holding him was just downright sinister! And it made me gasp "Oh hell no..." That series is intellectual and it was easy to grow attatched to the characters. But as afar as movies go, I's day when the plane went down in the movie We Are Marshall, was absolutely heart-wrenching, because nobody out of the (I think it was 75?) people made it out alive. And what makes it even more sad is that it was based on a true story. And I agree with Laguna, the Starfox series is one that can never get boring and always makes you ask questions. I just hope another Starfox game comes out soon, I would love answered questions.

I've heard about that actually, but I forgot. Thanks for the reminder! Hm, maybe it will be on my list. I should take some time to look at a couple of reveiws, I don't want to spend 20+ bucks on a game that isn't very good again. I was also hoping for a new one for say GameCube, though they don't release any new games specifically for it anymore I don't think. Or maybe the Wii where you would be able to use the classic controller. That way, Nintendo would still be able to sell it with it's name intact.

The endings of two movies I've watched not so long ago (even if they are old). The Prestige and The Illusionist. The first one's ending was plain scary... all those bodies rotting in the water tanks only because one man wanted to show a new trick and the second one had one of the most twisted conclusions ever. It didn't explain certain moments in the movie, but still was damn good. I hope somebody else here also watched these two movies and agrees with me. EDIT: Added spoiler-markers... don't look if you haven't seen the movie yet

DagdamorAhh yes, I've seen The Illusionist and agree, it's quite a good film. The conclusion I thought left you with quite a good feeling And Paul Giamatti is one of my favorite actors. Haven't seen The Prestige yet, though I want to.

GeorgeHarrisonHaven't seen The Prestige yet, though I want to. Please watch it once you have the chance, you won't be disappointed. It was a surprisingly interesting film. And the ending will make you shiver, I promise. Being a Christian, you will also probably ask yourself a couple of questions. But no spoilers anymore...

I just saw Edward Scissorhands yesterday finally after almost 17 years of it being out. It was actually a very sweet movie (honestly). Some moments made me a little uncomfortable, and some made me a bit angry, but I still really liked it. But throughout most of the movie, I just kept saying to myself "Poor little guy". I do highly recommend it though, there's kind of a little hidden message throughout the movie.

SpringfieldHorror That's interesting, I just finished watching Edward Scissorhands yesterday. I agree, it's a great movie, I hadn't seen it in a couple of years and felt like renting it again.

GeorgeHarrisonHehe, small world. I couldn't find it at the video store. I've looked and asked but no luck. I finally found it on one of the Encore movie channels and figured I'd set it to my DVR until I could buy it at Borders.
