I just found this interview on TV.com and it's about 4 feature-length movies of Futurama.

Rough Draft draws, colors, and animates Fry, Leela, Zoidberg and the rest of Planet Express; animation studio's exec talks about the process.

Good news, everybody! Futurama is back after a few years off the air, and this time the futuristic animated comedy is going where it has never gone before: the realm of feature-length films. After a successful revival on cable and good DVD sales, David X. Cohen's tale of a shipping company in the year 3000 makes its return on November 27 with Bender's Big Score, an hour-and-a-half of shiny, new adventures with Bender, Leela, Fry, and the rest of the crew.

But that won't be it for the cult show--three more Futurama movies will also be coming to DVD in 2008.

You can read the interview here: Click

I didn't really like the series, but I'm still looking forward to this. Smile

Oh, this is very good news indeed. I always thought Futurama's "death" was undeserved and premature, it was a genial series imho. So, i'm glad it's coming back, i hope it'll keep up the good quality of the humour and references to the actual world Smile

What? You didnt know that Futurama was coming back. Geez. As Bart would say, "Get with the times, man"

Bender's Big Score has already been leaked to torrents and is available for download, I already have. And will be on DVD in the US on November 27, it'll be available in PAL regions in April 2008.

I knew it was coming back, but I didn't know when. I don't really follow the news on Futurama and I just bumped into this. So...

I knew about it (people keep discussing Bender's Big Score on ISFF), but it's still a nice news. Smile
And don't listen to Gary, he's just jealous because he didn't open this topic here. Tongue
About three more Futurama movies - if I'm not mistaken, they aren't confirmed yet, those are just rumors so far. There will be four "regular", 22-minutes length episodes, though - but they will be made from the first Futurama movie (the movie will be just split apart into 4 episodes with the "to be continued..." in each). That's all I know so far.

Nothing will beat the Simpsons Movie for me anyway. I like Futurama, but... that movie was fantastic.

I knew about the idea being put forward, but didn't know when, so thanks for the info Suusje, not everyone has access to all the information or uses file sharing, so sometimes these posts do come in useful. Smile

Pffft. yeah right. Gimme a break.

For the record, the announcement for when Futurama would be coming back has been around for months. Since Comic Con 2007 actually.

I heard it was going to arrive in 2008, but I didn't know when and never would have guessed for TV movies too!  Eek
My cousin will be happy, he loves Futurama. ^^

Sadly, Futurama Movie DVD will not be officially released in Russia. Sad
So we only have either to download it from torrents, or purchase from other countries. Our distributors suck... if they exist at all of course.

So far, I still want to see it. The fans' opinions differ very much here, some loved it to the bits while others say "meh". I've listened to a short fragment (in fact, it was an audio fragment), want's too much impressed but it's understandable Smile waiting for the possibility to purchase it without spending too much.

April 2008 for PAL regions.

It's coming to DVD Movies only, and those movies are going to be CHOPPED UP into 16 Episodes which would air on Comedy Central.

I like Futurama but not as much as to watch the same episode twice.  Confused Maybe they need more yellow?. Could this explain why I can watch any simpsons' ep. zillion times? What if yellow is some sort of visual drug which turns ppl into Simpsoholics? My new theory in progress... hm.

(could i be more OT? yes, íf I tried, but I'll stop now)  Big Grin

OT? On-topic or off-topic? Wink Both ways are okay though.
Nicely said about "more yellow", but I doubt this is the case. The main reason why I don't like Futurama as I used to like the Simpsons, is great difference between characters here and there. In the Simpsons, most of the characters are either adults or kids. In Futurama, most of main characters are teenagers, which makes their problems and adventures a bit too far from me... that, and the fact that I'm not into robots at all. Big Grin

I thought OT always meant Off Topic- at least that's how I always read it. Now I wonder how many times I misunderstood someone.  Eek Big Grin Embarrassed

Anywhoo, I don't really know why I dont like Futurama as much as the Simpsons. Maybe you're on to something there, Dag. Maybe it's the family thing. The Simpsons is more "traditional" show and easier to relate to?

OT does mean off-topic. It can also mean on-topic, but generally it means the former.

Dunno. Smile But there is definitely something mutually exclusive between them. I manage a comparatively big forum dedicated to both Simpsons and Futurama, there are many different people there, but so far I haven't met a dedicated fan who was into both cartoons. For some reason everyone tends to choose something one. Maybe you're right, the Simpsons are for "domestic" kind of people, who value friendship, family, stability etc., and Futurama are for people who's open for adventures of any kind.
