This is my first post here. I am a relatively new member here, just found out about this site 2-3 months ago. I enjoy reading and looking at all the topics and pictures. I just wanted to find out if there are people who feel that my obsession with Lisa Simpson is the same as my obsession with Gwen Tennyson of Ben 10. Don't take my use of "obsession" too seriously, I just think they are both very cute characters. I 'll post my pictures of the two next time.

PaoloWelcome to the forum Unfortunately, I don't even know who Gwen Tennyson is... but I wouldn't be surprized if someone has similar "obsession target" in their life. Obsession is a strong word, yes, most of the times it just means adoration and appreciation of someone else's principles... I see nothing bad in it

DagdamorNo... there is a fine line between "obsession" and "adoration"... obsession is more of a negative term that should not be used lightly. I've discovered this... a lot of times it can be associated with something serious... PaoloUnfortunately, I've no clue who this Gwen Tennyson lass is Her name sounds familiar, but... maybe you could give us an idea of who she is?

I am not much of an artist. I use my phone to photograph their pictures from the T.V. I apologize to anyone who thinks there are too few. It’s hard to get a good picture while I am watching. It is also because Ben 10 currently has 4 seasons compared to the 19 Simpsons has but my network has only shown 2 so far. But somehow, I manage to get some good ones. Listed below are my favorite pictures. Man, it feels weird to adore both an 8 and 10 year old girl to the point of taking their pictures directly from the T.V.

I'm sorry if it took so long. But I finally did it it. These are courtesy of Windows Movie Maker. The last one is what I consider my best shot of Gwen Tennyson, as the name implied.

I wonder what would you say about people who draw pictures, write fanfics dedicated to the mentioned girls, or see and post dreams about them. You picked a very nice collection of Lisa moments, I must say. And about Gwen - there's only 3 or 4 pictures with her there, so the only thing I can say about her is that she's looking quite nice, having those "Disneyish" style features.

After some reading, I can see why the two characters are appealing. They are, not idential by any means but at least similar. I think though I've never watched Ben 10, gotta feel sorry for Gwen. Her brother sounds like a right trouble maker! Lisa: "My brother is worse!" Gwen: "No, MY brother is worse!!"

I think it's the nature of the characters that causes them to be adored by so many. The well-meaning, intelligent female who is always overridden by others, regardless whether it's for better or for worse.
Gwen and Lisa seem to be quite similar in that sense.

CasperLisa: "My brother is worse!" Gwen: "No, MY brother is worse!!" *LOL* It's interesting though... if Gwen and Lisa will have more similarities (they already have quite a lot), I'm afraid I will suspect "Ben 10"'s creators in "borrowing" Simpsons ideas... when the number of coincidences becomes too high, it's hard to believe in them.

Hmm... What I feel about people who draws and writes fanfics about Lisa? Well, I say they have a very vivid imagination. Although I don't read fanfics, I am relly thankful for the fanartists. Most of the pics of Lisa in my computer came from them. They show me Lisa in a different point of view, aside from the one in the series. I wish I was half as good as them, art is relly not my thing.
I can't even draw Lisa's hair right.

PaoloI can't even draw Lisa's hair right. No worries about that - Lisa's haircut is the hardest part of drawing her, really. If you can draw everything else that means you still can draw. I agree about fan-art thing, but fanfics are also very interesting and important thing IMHO, at least several years ago I could pass by an unknown Lisa fanfic. Maybe you should give one a try, for example D.B.'s Gently. Fanfics also show characters from completely different point of view, sometimes this difference is even bigger than in fan-art.

Hah, that should be the least of your worries... I've scoured the darkest corners of the Intrawebs in search for Simpsons fanart, and let me tell you, few artists stick to the original character design when it comes to drawing hair. I've seen so many original hairstyles on Marge, Lisa and Maggie, it's ridiculous. Anything goes :3

Heh - much as I appreciate the recommnedation serge (and I do ) I'd say mine is one of the slighty odder fanfics out there*, so maybe not the best thing to kick off with. I'd say Full life wo Sagashite or Simpmoon are excellent examples of Simpsons style humor and a slightly different setting (though both are quite long), and Kind of Blue is really good to try out more dramatic fanfic (doubly so as it's so short, which i think is often a bonus when going for the more involved stuff). *in so far as it doesn't really stick to the style of the show at all, which people may find off putting if they don't like fanfic already.

D.B.In this case, Kind of Blue is a good choice. I wouldn't recommend reading FLWS or SimpMoon, not because they are bad (they are both excellent fanfics), but because they are too long for the beginner in fanfiction IMHO. The first Simpsons story I've ever read was, iirc, Jake's "VR Lisa". It was very short, so I read it and liked it. And comparing VR Lisa with Gently, I'm not sure which one is more odd...

Thanks for all the suggestions. Am thinking of starting a new topic since Gwen Pictures are hard to get. I'll still be posting all the Gwen pictures I can get.

She's a very cute character, and after reading around a bit, she's quite like Lisa in many ways. Maybe i'll have a go at drawing her.

PaoloInteresting shots, but it would be more interesting if you'd have found similar moments from the Simpsons, with Lisa. I'm sure there are plenty of such. Also, if you consider yourself Gwenobsessed, why not try and draw/write something dedicated to your favorite character? It helps greatly with expressing your feelings, also helps others to understand them.

PaoloThe first (EP11-43), the third (EP21-69) and the fourth (EP24-42) grabs I like more than the rest (well, the EP24-44 and EP41-6 is great too). But her smile looks not so friendly. Combined with her green eyes I'd say it looks fiendish instead, especially on tenth EP41-130. Is it her native trait of character to be such a bright one? Nice bunch though, man, it gives someting new to see.
