Shall we get acquainted?

« on: November 04, 2007, 02:36 »

I thought this would be a topic of interest.

Many here say that they really love Lisa, but how much? Lets say that someone shot at Lisa, and you are in position to jump in front of it, and there is a high chance of your own survival. Would you do it? Do you love Lisa enough to take a bullet for her?

Interesting question, but what is love?

I would define love in many ways, one of them being just a passion for something to have , to believe in, to follow; or I would define it as what I think you are reffering to: The most lucid craziness than men has.   Lisa is not real, and so this is a question kind of hard to answer at least to me.  How can I put myself in a position of hurting myself just for a thought.  Now lets say that Lisa was real, like in our dreams.  Dreams can be as real as life itself sometimes that when you are having one you have no idea if it is really happening.  In fact, we could be living a dream as we speak and don't even know it.  who are we to know? The whole life deal is a mistery.  How are we to know that we ourselves can make a imaginary character come to life for a few moments?  If that were the case why not taking a bullet for Lisa when you know that you are going to die by doing so?  Are we really having the most lucid craziness about her?  Or is it that we love to see her and that we could be afraid of not ever looking at her again, ever?

This is indeed an interesting topic, and I'm sure is going to go on and on with all you guys posting your opinions.  But I got here first!  Wink

I wouldn't know what to answer. This question is beyond me, and my comprehension.  I guess that the only way to find out is to be actually there and find out, I guess.

A world without string...?! Is CHAOS!!

Thats tough... really.

I know enough about ballistics and projectiles to know that a peice of metal travelling at bullet speeds isnt going to stop when it hits human skin and tissue or even bone. It would go straight through me and Lisa.
Still, I like to think I would push her out of the way while still 'catching' the bullet in my torso but... I've had a few situations where I've just frozen in fear. I wouldnt really know unless I was there.  Confused Its hard when you know that, bullets dont leave perfectly circle holes in the body as Hollywood tries to convince us, holes that can be patched up...

How some of you Americans sleep at night I've no idea.  Unsure

Yes, but I would prefer to shoot that bastard who decided to release a bullet at Lisa instead.
What if he kills you, then just shoots again? Sad Protecting someone with your body is the last thing that should be done, only is nothing else is possible. Of course I would do it, but I'd give much to prevent such situation at all.

Hmm well,..thats an interesting question, wouldn't be a nice situation at all, for anyone really...

I'm going to have to be different and say no, *will probably be killed for this*

but only reason I'm saying this its just something I can't picture in my head, if Lisa was real or not, and as Casper said,..it's likely I'd just freeze in such a situation from fear. Overall I feel that I'm just too much of a chicken if I was put in the actual situation, and don't feel a too strong of an attachment to Lisa like most people here do,...However if I ever witnessed her getting shot, I suppose I'd try all my best to help her survive or avoid it in the first place

I don't know much about guns and bullets, but I assume a bullet travels way too fast to be able to "catch" it. What you can do is pushing someone down/out of the way if you notice that an assassin is pulling out a gun, but if the assassin already fired the gun, it's too late to throw yourself in front of someone to protect him or her - and as Casper said, the bullet would probably go right through you and still injure someone else. And how would you know that there's a high chance that you'd survive it? So I'd say I wouldn't throw myself in the way of a bullet, but I'd try to push Lisa (or anyone else) out of the way. Everything else would be stupid in my opinion...

I think we should rephrase the question to Would you risk your own life to save Lisa? It's a bit more general question, but I think it'll get better answers than the bullet question.

well i suppose for all these answers, a lot of us do not know how we weould really react in this type of situation, even the bravest man may in a certain situation freeze while the scaredy cat may surprise people

I think the "catching a bullet" was a generalisation, i think we all realise it would be impossible once fired, i think runfromcheyney meant more as some stated, "put themselves in the line of fire" and get lisa out the way.

As Suusje says, better to be more general and say would you risk your life.

Again the answer hopefully would be yes, if she was drowning i would jump in a river, if she was being attacked i would try and help.

But suppose to condider is the "fight or flight" reaction built into everyone. When my dad passed away i paniced... so maybe i wouldnt be as brave as I would hope

Well yeah .... It is a complex question ....
Unfortunately, I think that would give my life ...
But it is a selfish decision ...
Leave in distress to my family and to other people that need my life....

moments after...
As usual life has a bright side and a dark...
the love is a word very big ... and no is only to the lovers ... this word include too to the family and friends and your motive to live... but the love is  sacrifice.... by this motive

I'd prefer to say "Definitely no" and then in this case do the straight opposite rather than bravely telling out of anger "Yes" and then - to go away in fear.
This decision must be very quick, only when you see such a critical situation, no room for long reasonings.. and due to only emotional impulse. What to add more... I think every child deserves such careful attention from adult's side, not only Lisa.

Interesting question.

In another life, perhaps I would say "Without a doubt, yes I would." But things have changed in my world, and right now I've got someone that I certainly wouldn't want to part ways with... so in simpler terms, I'd rather not die for Lisa. It sounds so selfish, but really, no decision that was ever spoken is concrete and irreversible. Perhaps at the right time, under the right circumstances, I would. There are good reasons for it, I mean it seems like a noble thing to do, and perhaps I'd do my best to stop it. But if it came down to the question of one of us living and one of us dying...

...I would have to say that no, I would not die for her.

Interesting question indeed and yet I'm surprised because it seems so simple to me. She is the kind of person whose existence surely won't be wasted on this planet. So I say yes. I always think of her as someone who is meant to accomplish a lot, not just for herself but for  others too. She has the right cause, passion, will... So who knows, maybe it's not only Lisa I'd be saving. Although even that would be enough.... any child, for that matter.... maybe some adults.

(I honestly hope to be as noble as I seem. Big Grin  Rolls Eyes Tongue )

Yes definitely, no doubts.  Lisa has made me think about a lot of things in my life and change them for the better so I'd happily take a bullet for her.

YEAH!!! FIRST POST... in a lisa based thread. Tongue

Most all of you know i really don't get into many of the lisa based threads on these boards. I have a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around some theoretcal situations and certain specifics about the wardrobe or hairstyle ect. ect, but i think I can actually answer this one. Given that she was real and not a cartoon character, i would. my reasoning behind this is the same for any person. I would take a bullet for anyone, even those that I hate and those who have hurt me, but giving it up for someone who is caring would be more worth the loss of my life to me.

Well well well, i had to think about this... and i realized that i'm not the good person i thought i was.
Basically, i *wouldn't* take a bullet for anyone, not even children if i don't know them, and maybe even if i knew them i would have second thoughts Sad I'm just too egoistic.

But for Lisa, yes, yes i would. Definitely... i'm not sure if this is good or bad, but i'd take it for Lisa, i wouldn't for anyone else.

I know what you mean Marco... if you dont know somebody, you dont know if they diserve it. They might not but, its doesnt mean you diserve to get shot more than they do. Most people have things to live for, and to potentialy die for somebody you dont know is... risky I guess. You might have saved the life of an evil person... So I dont think your egotistic.

I definatly wouldnt take a bullet, and the risk of losing everything to live for, for somebody I didnt know. Unless it was something quite obvious, like a defensless child. I've got more chance of living through it.

Thats IF I could think quickly and clearly enough, without freezing.

Shall we get acquainted?

I wouldn't risk myself. I have two ways to do it where we both would be safe.

If I see a guy aiming at Lisa, I would go up behind him and hit him in the back of the neck with a blunt object, knocking him out.

This is the method Lisa would probably find least objectionable.

Or, I could do it in a more elaborate way:

If I saw someone holding a gun at my beloved Lisa, I would take a page out of John McClane's book. Lets say that the area where Lisa is getting held up is a shopping mall, just for example. I would run out into the parking lot, and hotwire a car. I would prefer a Chevrolet Suburban to do the task, but I will take what I can get. Anyways, while Lisa stares at the gun in the face, thinking that it is over, I would come busting through the wall in the Suburban, and would drive right into the gunman. I would either run him over, and then stop, or he will flip up onto the hood, and I would just keep going, pounding through anything in my way, and keep going until I smashed into a wall, crippling the asshole.

Just like in Live Free or Die Hard! Except that McClane used a Ford Expedition.

I bet that Lisa would object in using such a wildly violent method in taking the gunman out, but at least she would be safe.

I guess it just depends on circumstances in what method I choose, but more than likely I would choose method number one.
