Who here reads Simpsons comics? I collect them, along with many other Simpsons items. I find that I can read them during the day to get my Simpsons fix when it isn't on the T.V. I have a favourite one too. It is called 'Lisa in Wordland' and it is a very interesting ripoff of 'Alice in Wonderland', and I just wondered if any body else reads the comics so that we can discuss them as we do with the show itself! Lisa Well, I have probably gone on long enough... I have a habbit of doing that. I hope you like my topic and I look forward to reading any replies that are posted!

I don't make a habit out of reading comics, and never have. I usually just stick to books, comics have never really appealed to me as far as something that I can sit down with for awhile. However I did dip into my friend's Simpsons comics whilst at his house last year... I don't quite remember what the comic was called, but I found the story mildly interesting and was let down when I couldn't find the discarded comic the next day.

All I remember was that Dr. Hibbert discovered the "Flanders birthmark" on Bart, and it was suggested that perhaps Bart and Rod were exchanged at birth. This resulted in Rod living in the Simpson household, and Bart at the Flanders house.

During the course of Rod's stay with the Simpsons, he and Lisa found out that they had a lot in common, and got along much better as brother and sister than she and Bart ever had... so when it was revealed that the "Flanders birthmark" found on Bart was nothing more than chewing gum, Lisa was quite let down.

That's all that I can remember, although I know there was more. Hence my disappointment about not being able to find it the next day Wink Ah, well.

Yay, I like Simpsons-Comics a lot, I have all from 40 - today! And I got paper bags for the older comics. So I do know every single comic. I love the story with Lisa getting a poet and fighting in an poet contest against Martin. Really heartful, even for a simple comic. Liked it very much. ^_^

That would be Bart Simpson #9, O Bart, where art thou? It's available in The Big Bratty Book of Bart which you can probably find on Amazon. I could also scan it...

I have a rather large collection of Simpsons Comics which could probably total more than 100.

YAY! I'm glad people like this topic and I am glad that I am not the only one that reads Simpsons comics! I like the one where lisa and martin have poetry competitions against each other too. It is very funny and I like the way it ends. i read that one in the Simpsons comics Ago-Go, which is a digest sized paper back. Keep writing about your favourite comics, and ask questions if you need to. I'm sure that someone out there will be able to answer them!!!

I was collecting both English and Russian versions some time ago. It was interesting, I must admit... there is a difference between the Simpsons episodes and comics, even official ones. Characters are usually put in much more weird and unusual situations, there are moments we'd hardly see in the show. Several issues were just brilliant to me, for example, that Halloween issue (don't remember the #), where Simpsons family was assisting Frodo Baggins in his Ring adventure. The moment when Marge has cured the Evil Eye, made me laugh. Big Grin

There *is* one Lisa comic - "Lisa in Wordland" (a parody to Alice in Wonderland, I guess). I have its scanned copy - btw, you can download it here, from the "Lisa Comics" folder. It wasn't bad at all, but wasn't fantastic either. Just a nice comic with Lisa and her cat as main characters. Smile

@Serge: Wow, thanks for the link! Smile I do have that comic (the German Edition was published not before last year), but since I got it as a gift, signed by Bill Morrison himself, I didn't touch it at all and put it straight into a picture frame. Smile

I rarely get and read the Simpsons Comics.

But I used to be a devoted collector when I was younger.

I still enjoy the THOH Comics Specials a lot.

The latest special issue I've got was a Superhero special featuring the Pie Man  Homer

I have read a really interesting Simpsons comic. It is called 'Milhouse the Man, Krusty in the Can, and the Great Springfield Frink-Out'. It is about Professor Frink causing damage to the space time continuum. Characters swap rolls with others. For example, Bart becomes the sidekick while Milhouse is the coolest guy in school. Lisa is a B grade student and due to Marge and Homer divorcing in this reality, Bart is a Simpson while Lisa takes her father's name (Ziff). That is enough spoiling but if you get a chance I suggest that you read it!

Lisa is a B grade student and due to Marge and Homer divorcing in this reality, Bart is a Simpson while Lisa takes her father's name (Ziff).

Actually, that's a little wrong. Marge and Homer haven't actually met until the end of the comic, Bart is Homer's kid yeah, but Lisa has no relation to Homer, nor does Bart to Marge. Homer and Mindy (who is Homer's wife in this reality) had Bart and Maggie, while Marge and Artie (who's Marge's husband) had Lisa. And both couples actually divorced recently.

So the furthest the relationship between Bart and Lisa can go is Step Brother/Sister.

Oh and dont forget to watch Late Night with George Meyer. Tongue

Thank you for pointing out that mistake. I apologise for that. I must not have been paying attention when I typed up that comic description. So sorry. If you ever find Simpsons Ago-Go that comic is in that. I found it recently in my local newsagent, despite the fact that it has not been released for a long while. I was so excited when I found it. I am currently in the middle of organising my simpsons comics. I don't like the way they are set up in my bedroom currently. I am thinking of buying a large folder and a lot of plastic sleeves to keep them in. Does any body have any alternate suggestions that I could try in terms of storage and care? I would really appreciate them... ever since finishing high school I have had a lot of time on my hands...

Simpsons comics have never really interested me, then again no comics really do ... I'm more of a book person myself Tongue Although I do have a friend who likes comics, it just never really caught on with me.

New paperbacks usually come out once a year, generally around January. There's a load of them if you search Amazon. The paperbacks are pretty close to catching up to the standard editions now.

That is interesting to know. I guess things work a little differently in Australia. If you go into a newsagent you have a huge selection because there are always old comics in there that they didn't manage to sell.

Almost same thing here - but I guess it's normal, comics are made for lazy time-spending, not for really enjoying the process Smile Most of the Simpsons comics I've seen, didn't have any really good plot, they were more interesting as a part of the Simpsons merchandise to me.
