Creating this as some kind of an opposition to Chris' and George's Song Lyrics thread Wink
Here's something for a start.

Apollo 440 - For Forty Days (5:30)

Yesterday, I was listening to it again and again. Couldn't help myself but have the feeling that I'm nearby a waterfall, or a fountain, or a stream in the forest. Very pleasant and cheerful music, and I hope, not very known here. Smile

Hm, so the rules are just to post a song that doesn't have lyrics? Seems easy enough. Smile

Dagdamor
You're right, that song does give you the feeling of being in nature somewhere, and although it gets a little repetitive toward the end, it's a great track. Kind of like meditation mixed with dance music. Wink

Well, I've got a few songs I can post here... first of all one of my favorite instrument-only songs by, yes, the one and only... Pink Floyd. Tongue

"Any Colour You Like" -by Pink Floyd

This is probably the most psychedelic song I've ever heard. Did my best to find a YouTube video of the album version, the live ones are good too, but somehow don't do it enough justice.

*knows what kind of thing to expect from Marco and Casper on this topic* Wink

Whenever people mention their fav instrumental music,..my mind immediately jumps to The Lion King..
Yes I am that obsessed Big Grin but I always have loved the backing music and instrumental scores of the film for the movie AND the musical...
They're very soothing, and some are very lively that they make you feel happy, some are more classical than others, but all are very "African" and feature a lot of rhythm, woodwind etc...

My fav is probably "This Land" cos, it just sends shivers up my spine every time I hear it..
Here's a video I found, not the best ever, but I have mainly linked it for the music if anyones interested:

Hehe, now this is my kind of thread. Tongue In my book: Lyrical < Instrumental

Dagdamor
Yes, that is a cheerful tune indeed! I love that kind of music. Wink *downloads to drive* Really reminds me of typical SimCity music, those tracks are always a bit different, in the same sense as this one. Kind of an inspirational tune that just seems to tell you to push on. (Strangely not in a stressful way.)

GeorgeHarrison
I think that's a pretty good tune actually, but I think the word "trippy" works better for this one. Smile

Black_raven
Not a big fan of the Lion King but I do like orchestrated songs like this. Wink

lizard_queen
Haha, yeah I saw that kid do the super mario theme, real funny looking tbh. XD

I do hate the sound quality of youtube, but for a good starter tune, let's kick it off with...

Final Fantasy VII AC - Those Who Fight

(Oh, yes! I LOVE the piano.)

WARNING: Don't listen to the following song if you're depressed. But do if you lik traveling with your mind Smile

I have heaps of favourite instrumentals, but lately this one is without doubt the one that touched my soul the most. It's part 1 and 2 of the Agalloch trilogy "Our fortress is burning". I took out art three because it's definitely not what you'd call music, although it has its meaning. Smile

There's a little vocals in the end of the song, last minute or so, but it's definitely not singing and the lyrics lose importance to the actual voice at that point, so it's like an instrument. See you in the desolate lands...

Agalloch - Our Fortress Is Burning...

Not usually into "remixes" of classical stuff but i really love the following track:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMtmomHeXvA

William Orbit vs. Ferry Corsten - Barbers Adagio for strings.

There is something about it that appeals to me, quite often use it as an intro song when i do live shows online, i then usually play something like classic rock after it lol.

Marco beat me to it! Big Grin If I'd have posted any instrumental Agalloch song, that would have been it. Even if it has some very slight words in it, its a very great experience in the right circumstances.

The guy playing the Simpsons tune is very impressive, even more so that its one person playing two instruments  Eek

Well, I think I may have posted this in the song lyrics thread already as a supplement to another set of lyrics. It really deserves a place here though, it's one of the most soulful and moving instrumental songs I've ever heard. Although the memories it awakes are somewhat painful and bitter, it's definitely earned a special place in my archive of music.

"Marooned" -by Pink Floyd

Take the time to listen. Somehow I don't think you'll regret it. Smile

Ah goodness, Gilmour can certainly write good instrumental Tongue And I believe that he just recently was beginning to learn saxophone. "Red Sky At Night" certainly shows his talent and knack for music of all kinds.

Anyway... I see your Red Sky at Night, and raise you one Castellorizon.

"Castellorizon" -by David Gilmour

Almost reminds me of a shortened, percussionless version of Marooned.

One of Dream Theater's best instrumentals to date. You might find it boring in the middle but i think it's a great blend of technical musicianship and melody. The last 2 minutes where the climax is reached are to die for. Smile

Probably a good topic for me since I enjoy instrumental music more than I do ones with vocals.  Wink

Not hard rock-ish at all. Has a bit of that factory sound to it.

Pink Floyd
System of a Down
Metallica

Gary Moore's - Parisienne Walkways from his debut album Back On The Streets, 1979. Quite well-known... Though it's not a purely instrumental and it has a little lyrics, but I always tended to think of it as an instrumental song.

This is arguably my favorite instrumental song of all time. "Marooned", "Castellorizon", and "Any Colour You Like" are all wonderful and impressive tracks, but there's a certain feeling about this next song that has, and always will, haunt me. It's not by any artist, actually; it was written as part of the soundtrack for the 1996 Blizzard RPG, Diablo. Quite a groundbreaking RPG, and always a classic game, this particular song is the background music for the main town or "safe zone" in the game.

The song conjures vivid images in my mind, of dark afternoon sunsets and the dismal twilights that follow. It sounds depressing; but this song gives me such a feeling, and brings back so many memories, that it could never be depressing to me.

QFT My good man, QFT. This song is magical, i started playing Diablo because of the soundtrack (i found the game boring and repetitive, but that magic soundtrack just sucked me right into the game). Gonna listen to it till i fall asleep tonight... Smile

Btw, the composer of this is Matt Uelmen, that made most of Blizzard's soundtracks back i nthe day (Diablo 1,2,LoD and others): He has a page on Last.Fm and some more info you can find on google.

Admittedly the game was a bit repetitive at times. And although it was rather basic, and Diablo 2 had a much more well developed storyline and gameplay, there's a certain charm about the original Diablo that I don't think can ever be replaced Smile At least for me...

I would upload them into MP3 format, however as you already know, my trial on CuteFTP expired at the end of April Confused And unless you know where I can upload these for free, I'm going to have to stick to YouTube links.

Maybe nothing unusual you'll see, but it's quite remarkable time for me. At the one you all know who's tastes Lisa , I decided to take some sessions listening to warious artists of jazz. Started to listen it only with efforts I soon realised the inner power of this unical music. It maybe sound loud and strange, but all, who likes metal, at least must try it. The sounds of jazz is full of good emotions, of course there's and blues ones, but often it's easy to listen music. Why to increase my music tastes - I just don't know. But it's not only a some pointless wish to know as much as it possible through own life. I believe this is a new, unknown emotions, at least for me and the fanciful world of jazz art is only opened to me.
Such musicians I marked for myself: John Coltraine, Charlie Ventura, Miles Davis, Jan Garbarek, Ella Fitzgerald and Koko Taylor (from blues). All they deserves attention.

ALM
Gotta love those old school Sonic games. The music is timeless. Tongue

Anyways, I thought to include some good soundtracks from, yes, an ANIME soundtrack.
But, please, don't overlook them!!
They're very well put together. Smile
These are from the Death Note soudtrack #1, that yes, I did buy myself.

The first track is a choral piece, but it's very powerful. It reminds me of something immensely sad like, say... a slow death of someone, which was appropriate for the scene it was used for.

Requiem - Yoshihisa Hirano, Hideki Taniuchi

Second track is a pretty emotional and calm track, but a little short. Still very good.
Dirge - Yoshihisa Hirano, Hideki Taniuchi

And there's two versions [both of which are very good] of this song on separate soundtracks. I'll post one. It's a more happier song with a very good assortment of strings. ^^ Very pretty piece.

Light Lights up Light - Yoshihisa Hirano, Hideki Taniuchi

And George, if you're looking for an FTP uploader, you can upload songs (up to 5MB) from a program here
It's free and I use it for my website.
(don't worry about the jp domain, that page is in English)
But you might want a site to upload it to, maybe you have your own? Smile
