Lisa - All Grown Up (18) See: Attachment (Contains Mature Content)It's common courtesy to knock before entering a room! This is my attempt to show Lisa in a more mature light, and to merge the Simpsons style of drawing with anime style, while maintaining the original essence of the character. Haha...basically if you can tell who this is supposed to be, then it's mission accomplished for me. Made entirely in Flash. I like this site, I see other works, and it inspires me to create my own. So, I hope this type of drawing is allowed here 'cause I want to stick around. [plug] Though, I'll post Simpons related art here, you check out some of my other stuff at my DeviantArt Page, new stuff added weekly. I must warn you though, I only draw mature content and the occasional beagle, it's just my style hehe... (nothing sexually explicit/pornographic, just poses like the picture above). [/end plug]

The-Real-Joe-CoolWelcome! It's always good to see a new artist here About your picture: it's nicely done, I like it. Technically, it's close to perfect, especially the background... all those details, the perspective, the picture on the wall... impressive. The work with shadows is simply amazing. Lisa is looking nice too, yes we rarely see her in such situation, but she looks beautiful. I'm not too much into anime, all those ways to express emotions confuse me sometimes - for example, the details on her cheeks look more like scars to me rather than blush. But that flower in her hair is an adorable detail... About your words that the picture doesn't have any sexual context. Sorry, but I don't believe that. I can't imagine the situation with Lisa locking in her room, staying naked on her bed and doing nothing. But I must admit, I liked this picture, it still looks harmless and nice. Good job

Thanks for the welcome!
Yes you're right! That's one of the reasons why I love fan art, because we get to see the characters in all kinds of new environments and scenarios. Also...let's just say she was changing clothes XD

Welcome to LTS! Your picture is nice, a very good attempt at merging the Simpsons and anime. Usually when this is attempted it's often failed, but I think you did a damn good job here. The background is perfectly done, the bedsheets and chair look very real and believable, and the teddy bear As for Lisa, my only nitpick is something Dagdamor has already pointed out... the blush on her cheeks looks like something more serious But overall you've down a good job with her, too! Her hair looks slightly odd but you've nailed her figure, looks very real and believable as well Hope to see more from you here, even if it is "mature", as long as it's nothing very dirty, I'm sure everyone here can appreciate the beauty of art.

Unbelievable... I suggest that replies from this point are directed to Joe, just leave each other alone... Neither of you are really making sense and I'm in no mood to spell it out in a more friendly manner. Also, don't reply to this, that'd just have me laughing. x_x' Might as well post a thought or two while I'm at it... my feelings are to a certain extent the same as Janglewolf's, but don't let that discourage you. I just don't feel like there is anything "Lisa" about that picture, so even though I must say you've got talent, I can't really understand the picture at all. Post as many pictures as you want, they won't hurt me (or anyone else really), I probably won't take some sort of interest in these kind of pictures though.

It's unfair to cut out my comment to the pic, so here it is again. Welcome to the boards, TRJC (is an acronym ok? typing the whole nick all the times could be tiresome )! It's always nice to have a new artist around, and one of your caliber nontheless! I'll talk about the subject of the picture later as i want to address once and for all a couple points. Speaking technically, the picture is quite great indeed, very soft and crisp coloring, enough details to make the scene realistic and alive, but not too many to detract attention. I've seen quite a lot of animized Lisa to avoid being shocked anymore at the various ways she's depicted, and i must say i'm pleased with her expression there, especially because you kept the round eyes Smile The details on the face are maybe a bit too marked (i'd make the purple less purple for example) but... it's stuff that happens in anime too. The hair is nicely done too, definitely a great starting pic.

Welcome to LTS, TRJC! I like your fanart, also. The details are good, and anime-simpsons is a rare, but appreciated art style. Also, I do not believe mature art is bad. Art is art, and that's all there is to it.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Sounds like I've got the green light to post more. I've got a picture that was inspired by one of Maggiecute's drawings. I'll post it up soon when I'm done.

The-Real-Joe-CoolSince most of the members agreed that your first picture was on the borderline, I nicely ask you to show your next drawing to Marco one of the admins before showing it to public. If it's approved (I hope it is), you will be free to post it here. No need to risk without reason. Thanks.

Ok, this picture is a WIP. When making this, the concept I had in mind wouldn't work as well if Maggie was 18+, so there's no mature content this time around. She's 16, and has traded in her pacifier for pearls. It was inspired by Maggiecute's "Angel Lisa" picture, as well as her sig.
Description: This is part one of a two part series. It's called, "Maggie: Angelic Soul." The second part will be called "Maggie: Devilish Spirit." So by the titles you can kind of see where I'm going with this. I want to illustrate the contrasting personalities various fan artists have used to portray Maggie.
Once again I went with an anime-esc approach, I attached 3 images because I need some advice. The first picture has the foreground blurred, the second one doesn't. Which one looks better? The third picture has 3 different versions of Maggie's face. Which one is best, or should I drop the anime style altogether in favor of the traditional look? Lastly, let me know if you think any of the filters are too heavy or anything else that needs improving. Thanks in advance.
Also, she has three wings just in case you're wondering why it looks kind of weird.

That's an impressively original style you got there, it is anime, but it has a lot pf personality. I love the colors and the background, wonderful detail on Maggie's clothes and hair, and her expression is, how it's intended, very angelic. My opinions: The blurred version gives a big DoF impact and it's both realistic and pleasant to look at. On the other side, a lot of neat detail especially on the flower gets lost. It all depends on what balance you want to put the flower and Maggie. If Maggie is still the center point of the picture, keep the first blurred version. If you want to indicate some sort of link between Maggie and the flower/feather, then the latters should have weight on the compositionas much as Maggie does: so keep them un-blurred. I know it sounds clich?, but i'd go for a half way. Keep the flower kind of blurred (even if not that much), and keep the feather unblurred, or maybe a slightly 1-2 pixel gaussian blur (it's more gentel). as for the eyes, definitely the first version. black pupils are good for Simpsons style, but on anime style and with such emotional pictures, they just look kinda weird Congratulations again on a refreshing, well done and poetic picture!

The-Real-Joe-CoolVery impressive! Your art is a wonderful addition to LTS, I love the wings and the way they seem to glow... and her eyes are extremely well done too! As I've said before, most people who try to cross The Simpsons and anime do a less than expert job, but it looks like you are one of those who have a knack for it Keep drawing, I very much look forward to seeing more from such a talented artist as you

Alright, now I fail to see Maggie I'm used to in this picture and feel an urge to start another scandal about it;-)
But seriously, she's perfectly drawn technically. The lines are right and clean, she's anatomically right, her hairdo is outstanding. Nothing to complain abut here. Characterization could be better though. She looks too anime to me. Maggie in the series is a girl with an attitude, especially in her older years. This girl is a generic anime female, with all the features: sad and somewhat confused look, folded arms, you name it. This picture is great, only it's not Maggie:-)
P.S. And you know, I'm feeling that she's a bit too yellow for an anime girl:-) Could you experiment with colouring a bit if you please, to make her skin more naturally yellow?;-) P.S. Hey, and where's my overbite, man? P.P.S. Yeah, and I like the V1 the best, in all the other V's she looks as if she were high:-)

The-Real-Joe-CoolSeeing your art I cant help but say of your style that suited very close to all that anime stuff. And to be honest it's kinda disappoints me every time that I see it, because that's simply not mine. Enough of me, your art is so impressive, the work with special programs combined with high skill of hand-drawing raise you beoynd the clouds in my eyes, like some another artists - CargoOfDarkness of SimpReal. From that bit of your art that I saw here, at LTS, I can conclude that you ready to pay a lot of time for elaboration of every single aspect of your drawings (something that I will never understand ) Now to your pictures itself. Lisa - All Grown UpThis is done very good and all seem to cast some very delicate and intimate atmosphere. Lisa looks great though she has pretty much of small shortcomings, such as distorted proportions of body somewhere. Face expression is good too (except for that all is damn anime style ), I'll try to guess how she feels this time. It seems that she has no... intercourse by now and the cover is confirmation of that. So if she will (ever) do that it's just an assumption and nothing more. And I incline to think her confusion is called with another reason I can't say which. Maybe it's her thoughts about all that was the past day and she is still under influence of that, maybe she even consider herself as guilty in something and simply can't get rid off that feeling. And right now she is showed before taking a shower (or after) and still the hard ideas pursuing her... Thats not easy picture for me. and Maggie - Angelic SoulThat's simply perfect both in technics of colouring and the character's detailing. Maggie's hairs impresses me high and her giant anime-eyes is nice-looking. She has a wings that came out so airy and non-material, so easy to touch, almost spectral. Nice work with a landscape and that representative of flora that you have shown in the foreground. Again the colours so bright and vital, very pleasing to eye. So, please, go on. (as for your request - it seems to me that unblurred version looks more great and the "pure" anime-style face of hers looks much more adorable than "traditional" or half-traditional ones )

The-Real-Joe-CoolWhat surprises me the most here, is that you manage to draw your pictures in Flash. This is the first time on my memory when someone could produce such great pictures in this program. I always thought Flash was made not for drawing in it, only for altering/editing existing pics, like Photoshop... Anyway, your new drawing is beautiful! I must admit, the only details that remind me of Simpsons' Maggie here, is yellow skin, her blue dress and the bowtie (although even it looks anime-ish, being so big and located on the back of her hair ). So if you allow me, I'll treat this picture as original. Technically, it's awesome. A sweet idea, nicely performed. From two first pics, I prefer second, because it allows you to "focus" both on Maggie and on the objects on the foreground. And those objects worth mentioning too, I don't know what to say about that floating feather, it's so cute, symbolizing the girl's vulnerability and innocence. My one and only nitpick (aside from the whole picture going a bit too far from the canonic Simpsons proportions): the white spot just above Maggie's head. It looks like a third wing. Aside from that, it's brilliant, if you can improve it, go on, but even now it looks complete to me. Great work.

Also, she has three wings just in case you're wondering why it looks kind of weird. I believe he's referring to your statement, Dagdamor. You've done a great job on Angelic Soul. I'd keep the unblurred version, since the flower is by far the most well-done object in the entire picture. The feather looks a little rough, and for the purpose of bringing focus to Maggie, you could use a little bit of blur, but not as much as you did in the blurred version. Play a bit with it. I'd also go with V1, the other ones just don't look right. Now, some nitpicking. It doesn't feel like Maggie. Sorry to brake it to you, but that grown-up lady differs too much from the baby from the show, there's no way to tell if it's Maggie, Lisa or any other character. When doing a totally different style than Groening's, it's important to keep the things we associate with the character in the picture. For Lisa, it would be the white pearls, a red dress isn't enough. For Maggie, it's the pacifier. It's been popular to keep it in a necklace, but there are other ways too. The ribbon was a good try, but I don't really think it's working. Lastly, it feels like you rushed her wings. Just look at the detail level of the flower. Or the feather. Or her hair. Wings are extremely hard to draw, but given the skill you've shown drawing everything else in the picture, I don't doubt you can do a better job on them. It also looks like they come out from the back of her head, rather than her back. Take a look at other pictures for reference. ( http://dreamers.com/fantplastic/galeria/belldandy.jpg or http://sjfanarts.iespana.es/bell_angel.jpg). They also give a hint on how you can improve the details of the wings. All in all, a very good picture. Most outstanding is the flower and Maggie's hair. Sorry for all the nitpicking, I hope you take it in a good way.

Thanks again for all the feedback everyone. I agree with a lot that was said. I'm going to work on the wings (thanks for that capadde), as well as play around with the filters to find a good balance as some of you suggested. There's also another thing that's come up that I really want to work on. I want to draw a character using my own style, yet if you were to look at it without any previous introduction or title, you'd be able to say: "Hey that's Maggie!" So, that's everything that I'll try to accomplish in version 2.0.

OK, I've decided to shelve the Maggie project for now, until I figure some things out. However, I do have a new pic, featuring Marge this time around. Changed up the style yet again, I like how it turned out, I'll probably use it from now on.
Anyway, I have removed Marge from her element, here's the scenario; she's young, single, and independent. She even has one of those modern, minimalistic, apartments. Critique welcome as usual.
Contains no mature content in case you're wondering, haha... kind of having fun drawing clothes.

The-Real-Joe-Cool Nice work again, man. This picture seems to be really modern and stylish, no unnecessary details here and those very scene looks to be present at some kind of penthouse (and not a cheap as I can suppose). Nice details are the laptop and cup of coffee, it's adding some atmosphere. The cloudy sunset sky is apocalyptical, it does the lion's share for creating of the abmience' temper; it's calm and rest yet not so serene as it seems to be. As if Marge is awaiting someone's coming, I don't care who it could be. But she looks great here, her unraveled hair is pleasant as it is always in regular episodes. The body and mostly the work with her cloth has impressed me much, nice picture.

The-Real-Joe-CoolNice one I like her hair and her outfit, you've done it well. And her pose and face are very good. I don't like backgroung, it's too bright and takes all viewer's attention, I suppose some kind of urbanistic landscape could be great and more matching for this dreamy face And still, she has sly naughty look But i like her.

The-Real-Joe-CoolSplendid picture! Gives you impression of huge apartments, but doesn't distract attention from the main heroine. I like how you pictured Marge here - nice pose, hairstyle, her eyes... yes, the picture has a little "naughty" look, but it doesn't spoil it for me. By the way, great work with the folds on her clothes. It should've been the hardest part of the pic... looks very believable, congratulations. Critique welcome as usual. I wish I could say anything constructive - right now, my biggest nitpick is that the picture doesn't have 4:3 aspect ratio so I can't use it as a wallpaper. Something has to be cropped. :/ But no problems about how you have drawn Marge. Maybe her overbite going too low... nah, she looks great.

The-Real-Joe-CoolAh, this is a very impressive picture. While not possessive of the brilliant, blinding white wings of the Maggie picture, I love the way you've done her hair. The couch and everything in the foreground are very sleek and sharp in quality; I only wish you would have spent a little more time on the background... it would perhaps be lending a more real feeling to the picture if the clouds were sharper in detail, instead of looking like the sky in an ancient FPS game. I'm glad to see some traditional Simpsons style here, you seem exceptionally gifted in both areas of anime and canonic-Simpsons style. The picture does have a "naughty" look, although it's more of a bachelorette style independence and freedom, if you will. Another great picture I must say, it has been a pleasure viewing.

The-Real-Joe-CoolAs for me, these versions are much softer and better. Water you added make that more... uhm... let's say, that's it gives more comfortable feeling. And the version with a blue sky is very nice and calm. And seeing Marge in all these varying backgrounds is a great way to see how nicely she was drawn herself I like this pic, and unlike I felt about Maggie and Lisa, this is really Simpson, real Marge.

Ok, i usually dont say a thing about art, the fact is that I dont find too much that interests me, but these pics are great. The Backgrounds are great and you have a great flair for doing it all in flash. those are so cool

I love the idea and execution of this picture. Imho, the first version is still the best... the clear sky indicating she might be on some super high tech skyscraper, maybe the lounge of her office. The color of the sunset is the usual one of metropolis and big cities so it makes even more sense. And her pose, clothing and sparse setting does a good job of instilling a sense of "relax after a full day". Very interesting artistry, Joe-Cool!
