Aargon Deluxe is a logical game with simple rules, but it's damn interesting. To solve the level, you have to make all coins spin by illuminating them with laser beams of corresponding colors. You can use mirrors, prisms, reflectors etc to do that - something like The Incredible Machine, but with colors and lights (see the attachment). There are 120 levels in total, divided into four categories - Normal, Caution, Danger and Overload, 30 levels each. Again, the game is very interesting, I believe Lisa would like it. Smile

I liked this game a lot, and some time ago have finished it. Thankfully, some very nice people sent me the additional level packs, so I'm playing them now Wink but the original game is complete, and I'm kinda proud of it. I kept making the screenshots of the solved levels, and now uploaded them all - like some kind of a completion guide. Here it is.

If you want to play this game
www.simps.net.ru/games/aargon.zip (7 Mb)

There are two files in the archive - Demo and Full. Install Demo first, then Full over it.

The whole game is there. Just find the "Deluxe" banner in the main menu, and click it twice.

Finished another level pack for Aargon called "Smooth Sailing". Of course, uploaded the solution already Wink
This one was a bit simpler, because there were only 90 levels. Very interesting pack anyway.

Aargon rules Big Grin

Its so bloody hard! But it really is my type of game. It goes along side Counter Strike and Gmod as my collective way of gathering thought, keeping my brain alive Smile

Thanks for sharing it Serge!

*Bump*

Oh my, Deep Space Facility level pack seems to be very complex to me.
I solved two more levels from the "Engineering" section yesterday - was happy like a kid Big Grin - but I still didn't complete neither Recreation nor Engineering (still have several levels to complete each). And I'm starting to give up because I spent about a week on each of them, and have to idea how to deal with them... sad...

Well, maybe I should, but I'm not... it's fun when you spend a week on each level and solve it after all, but when you don't, the game becomes very frustrating. So no, it appears to be above my skills. I'm not throwing it away yet though Wink

A month passed, but I didn't solve a single Aargon level since then... :/
Oh well. One friend suggested me another game with similar rules, and I quite liked it. It's called "Armadillo Run", and is interesting in it's own way. Basically, you also have to build a certain structure to lead a basketball (called Armadillo) to the exit point, but you aren't restricted with board cells anymore, and after starting the machine, it behaves very natural, like a real-life construction.
I can upload it somewhere, if anyone's interested. Smile

I agree, it's an interesting game! It didn't catch me like Aargon did, but it's indeed fun to watch the level solutions made by other people. Smile I'm uploading something - thanks to Marco for showing me those solutions published on the official site. Extract the archive contents into your Armadillo's "Levels" folder and enjoy Wink

By the way, some of the solutions look weird. They use some kind of a perpetuum mobile to solve the level...

Anyway, here is the link - www.simps.net.ru/games/armadillosolutions.zip (1,3 Mb, 800 levels inside)

When I was a little kid, I used to play an old game about laser beams and mirrors installed on an old prehistoric computer, not even an IBM-compatible one. That game allowed to rotate the mirrrors more freely - in any of 360 degrees. It was fun, because you had to be careful not to burn something important on the map while adjusting the mirrors.
I've seen many mirror-and-beam logic games since then, but none of them alowed to rotate the mirrors in more than eight directions. Unfortunately, this one is no exception.
I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer:-)

I'm curious now... it wasn't easy to emulate free-rotated beams and mirrors on the old computers - especially non-8x86, because there wasn't any built-in floating point arithmetic. If you remember the name of the platform (i.e. Spectrum, Commodore) and the name of that game... it's quite possible to find both the game and the platform emulator, so maybe it's possible to play it again! Smile I personally like playing old games on emulators from time to time. Right now my choice is Supaplex Big Grin

Oh... That was a very old computer - I believe it was stolen from the Federal Nuclear Centre;-) It was called "Korvet" and seemed to have been assembled in Russia. I guess it is similar to ZX Spectrum. At least I remember some games that I had - such as "Dan Dare" and "Dan Dare 2" scroll-shooters, and after some research I figured out that they were programmed for ZX. The mirrors-and-beams game I was speaking was made by the developer that created "Dan Dare", but I could find neither the Game's name, nor developer's one. Sorry:-/

Well, Korvet and ZXS aren't compatible... (I still remember Korvettes in the computer class in my school! Let's hope they have replaced them with something more decent during past years. Big Grin) But the game might be easily ported from one platform to another. After all, all personal computers worked the similar way those days.

BTW, you're a programmer. Why don't you try and make a game with free-rotated mirrors?;-) I know it's an ungodly job to design all these puzzles and levels, but how about a level or two?;-) Just to try...

It is definitely an interesting game, but it's shareware. Sad That reduced my interest almost to zero - I completed all the demo levels, and what I'm supposed to do now? Rolls Eyes I'm not going to spend $20 on a game like that, it's a pure robbery imho. And from all the cracks I've managed to find around, nothing worked - which is weird keeping in mind that the last release of the game came out in 2004...

Update: Woohoo, just found a valid keygen! *feels like a Homer stealing the cable* :-)
Update 2: ...and completed it all in half an hour, d'oh! :/ Tell me about easy games...

*Offtopic topic bump* Wink

Several days ago, I was searching for different stuff (okay, okay, I gave up to solve some of the Deep Space Facility levels, so I wanted to search for solution or other kind of hints Embarrassed ) and found this. Another level pack for Aargon, called Hotter Than The Sun.

It's not an official pack, I suspect it's a fan-made one, because only "Normal" levels are there (30 levels in total). But it's still very interesting, and levels aren't that complex. Recommended to check. Smile Just download the archive and unpack it to the "Level Packs" directory of your Aargon. A new item in the main menu should appear.

Since my last post, my progress in Aargon has improved a bit.
Still haven't completed the "Hotter Than The Sun" pack, but I keep trying from time to time.
The same with the "Deep Space Facility". But I've found yet another pack, called Mirror Hall. It turned out to be easier, so I solved it. As usual, attaching the pack (just unzip it into your "Level Packs" folder), and posting a link to my solution. Even if you're not planning to play it, the solved levels are still interesting to look at. Wink

Few days ago, I was browsing internet (wow Big Grin) and found something interesting... a brand new official level pack for Aargon:
http://www.twilightgames.com/lp3/lp3_info.htm
Unfortunately, it's not free. And I failed to find any "free analogues" across the net Wink
Looks like the only way is to buy it. But the problem is, I still don't have a credit card and all payment ways allowed there aren't acceptable for me :/
