Hrm, are we allowed to use games from any console? Because most of mine would be PC games...
If any console, then my top 5 would be:
1. Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords 2. Diablo 2 (and Lord of Destruction expansion) 3. Diablo 4. Star Wars: Galaxies (MMORPG) 5. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter

The STARFOX trilogy 8. NARUTO: Uzumaki Chronicles 2 (first was ok, but 2 is better) 9. Pokemon Ruby 10. The Final Fnatasy Trilogy I have SO MANY other favorites, but these stuck out most. I'm a mad gamer. >D

Interesting lists x_X Difficult to measure, the game were so different in my earlier years... not fair to compare ^-^
1. PlanetSide (MMOFPS) - Being released in 2003 with such incomparable gameplay traits at the time, this one truly deserves it. 2. Final Fantasy VII (RPG) - Still as enjoyable as it was 10 years ago. 3. Half-Life 2 + Episodes, mods (FPS) - Best game engine evur!! 4. Kingdom Hearts (RPG) - Great gameplay and storyline, fun to see all my favorite Disney/Final Fantasy characters mashed together. 5. Command & Conquer series (RTS) - Undoubtedly the best strategical series ever. (Except for Generals.) 6. Star Wars - Knights of the old Republic I and II (RPG) 7. Pokémon handheld series (RPG) 8. Classic Sonic the Hedgehog games (Platform, adventure) 9. Super Mario World (Platform, adventure) 10. Donkey Kong Country (Platform, adventure)
Never played Kingdom Hearts 2, my PS2 broke before its release =( Might get it and emulate, if it's compatible with the emulator yet.
I don't think this list is justified, but it's what I could think of atm!

The other 5 games on my list: 6. Banjo-Kazooie [This is just a long, great, hilarious game.] 7. Megaman Battle Network 5 [Both versions of the game should be regarded as absolute classics in the series.] 9. Donkey Kong 64 [Another one of Rare's great achievements.] 10. Simpsons Hit & Run [How could it not be cool? ]

I don't think i can put in an order, even because many of these games meant something to me in my past but couldn't be considered objectively "masterworks", so here's a list that more or less sums them up pretty well. - System Shock 2 - Jagged Alliance 2 - Command&Conquer: Red Alert - Final Fantasy VII - Doom (and Doom 2) - Company of Heroes - F.E.A.R. (and expansion, Extraction Point) - Condemned - Diablo 2 (and expansion, lord of Destruction) - Silent Hill 2 I'm sure i'm leaving out many that i don't remember but had a stong impact on me as i plaied them. But i'm a gamer since 1986, so.... my meory isnt so great Edit: Replaced Minkey Island with Silent Hill 2 : Sorry Threepwood, but never have i plaied such a viscerally emotional game like SH!

I haven't played any console games besides some ancient 80's Atari console and Tetris on a Gameboy, so here's a list of my all-time favorite PC games:
1.) SimCity 4 Rush Hour/Deluxe - Best. Game. Ever. 2.) Transport Tycoon Deluxe - My second all-time favorite. 3.) SimCity 2000 - Got me hooked for countless hours. 4.) SimCity Classic - Made me falling in love with the SimCity series. 5.) SimCity 3000 - IMO the weakest part of the series, merely a graphical update of SC2000.

Nobody for Manhunt? I guess this list changes often for me. But, at the current moment: 1) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl (with ABC mod installed) 2) Armored Core 1/2/3/AA/etc.. basicly every Armored Core ever made 3) Armadillo Run ( the addiction is great ) The rest cant really be described in an order. Some games you have a mood for randomly, where as the ones above are fun all the time for me. -) Manhunt (a classic never dies) -) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (my brothers changed all the vehicles for downloads, so its more interesting and realistic) -) Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour -) Half Life 2 series (+ Half Life 2: Smod, a free modification to the game) -) Gmod!!! (while we're on subject, heres my brothers Gmod videos. This link is soon to be added to my signiture) -) Gran Turismo .... yes I know thats 9. Truth is, I'm struggling... I've never been a fan of Final Fantasy, or Kingdom Hearts, and now I like to officialy announce how much I dispise Counter Strike. Generaly I like shooting games, specificaly with sniper elements with real weapons. M82a1's, SA80's, FN FS2000's... *day dreams*I'll think on it.

In the realm of FPS, Aliens vs. Predator 2 definitely is my favourite... although the first one was pretty intense too. Never played CounterStrike, and although I enjoyed Battlefield 1942, I couldn't really get into any of the subsequent releases, or Battlefield 2.

Casper so great hearing people trash Counter-Strike. It's a horrible game, Counter-Strike: Source, feels a little smoother but it's still the same crappy game. It's fun for a few hours of gameplay, scattered over a week, but then it just dies. My all time favorite war shooter is Call of Duty 2. Really freaked me out how dramatic it felt the first time I played it, even if the gameplay is a gets a bit annoying sometimes. Didn't feel like it should make the list, but definitly an epic in its genre.

*decides not to admit that he plays Counter-Strike 1.6 daily against bots* Oh well My personal top five: 1. Homeworld II. Great 3D cosmic strategy, someday I'll post a full review about this beautiful game. It's perfect in many aspects, has convenient controls, easy to learn, very well done technically. If you didn't see an exploding Battlecruiser, you saw nothing in PC games yet 2. Aargon Deluxe. Wonderful logic game (laser rays, mirrors, prisms, coins etc), here is a separate thread about it. 3. The Simpsons: Hit & Run. I loved this game from the first moments! It's funny, dynamic, has decent graphics, has Lisa-dedicated level, has so many hilarious dialogs and scenes. 4. Counter-Strike. (sorry CS haters... this game has its good sides imho) 5. Different good old Nintendo games, like The Guardian Legend, Battletoads or Snake Rattle&Roll.

DagdamorHaha, don't sweat it I don't mind if your opinion on it is different. I just think the game is too rudimentary and far too repetitive. I've played some wicked games throughout the years, CS just gets too dull for me. I shall change the term "horrible" to decent, but with a short life, I'm just tired of people talking about it and playing it constantly, like it was the best thing ever to be invented in this world. *Decides not to admit that I played in a Counter-Strike: Source clan for a while, but that's another story*

Oh the Simpsons Bowling game is great fun. It's so big, though.
@Akuma I love Super Mario Bros. 3! I got it for Gameboy Advance, but it's just not the same. u_u;
My favorite NES games are:
1. Super Mario Bros. 3 2. Megaman (a classic that shouldn't have been meddled with) 3. Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt 4. Bart Vs. the World

Dagdamor*Decides not to admit that I played in a Counter-Strike: Source clan for a while, but that's another story* [OFF TOPIC ] Story? I'll give you a story. I started playing CounterStrike back in November 1999, with the Beta 4 of the game. I was playing with a 56k, only on improvised italian server with italian people. There was no team speak, no anticheats, no thousands and thousands of maps with customized sounds, just a raw game and its buggy mechanics... but boy, how much FREAKING FUN i had with that. CS made me go on a ride with train of 300km alone just so i could meet my team friends and play a tournament with them (nationa tournament that i'm proud to have won together with my clan mates, the Raptors). CS was a great part in my life, it made me feel like i was part of something big, a pioneer of the new era of socializing. It was so fun and a friendly society... i remember our first international clanwars... me with my rudimentary englis skills congratulating and making jokes about our silly scores with the swedish guys, and promisng (sadly, a promise that was never fulfilled) to have gone to meet them at a big tournament that had to take place in germany. I never felt so alive and active in my life. It might seems little but for me, fitting in so well was a dream. Then came the pro-gamers. Then came the cheats. Then came the l337 speak. And beta after beta, the community became bigger, wider, and more pro. People in my clan started to want and become "professionals", forcing hours of training to be able to beat other clans. Inter-clan feuds were started. Also was started the phobia of "cheater! he's cheating!" and "he's camping" and "your ping is too high, get out of the server!". They came the "massacre" maps. Our gloroius clan was divided in the "fun" players and the "pro" players. We split up, promising we'd stay in touch... but that never happened anymore, since we "fun"players were cut off the important communities fast, as we were not enough "pro", not enough competitive. The anger started to fll my hours of play, the frustration. I started lashing out at the screen and screaming at my keyboard. The contacts with my clan friends went scarcer and scarcer, the community went bigger, bigger, and dumber, and shallower. When version 1.5 was out, in 2002, it was all over. The community of Counter Stirke had become what it is now, a fuming and putrescent wreck of what it once was, crawling with hate, and racism, and agonism. And of course, pr0 gamers. l337 h4x0rz. n00bs. I now stay in touch more or less with one person from our old Raptors clan, Andrea is his name. He broke his leg in a motorcycle accident a couple months ago. He received two get well cald from two former clan members, one of those being me, the other is now a daddy. Life goes on, and Counter:Strike is dead. [END OF OT]

Alright. Let me try:-) 1. Fallout I think it's very difficult, nearly mpossible to make a real CRPG. I believe there are not more than 5 or 10 real CRPGs in the world, and Fallout is one of them. 2. Victoria: An Empire Under Sun/Hearts of Iron II I'm out of words. These two global strategic games are simply great. Believe me:-) They are complex. They are fairly easy to learn. They have none of those excessively beautiful eye-candy graphics. They are dedicated to the two my favourite history periods - XIX and XX centuries. And they offer everyone the opportunity to prove them all that Cambodia can rule the world!:-) 3. Psychonauts They say American McGee's Alice has a mind-blowing design, and Beyond Good and Evil has a wonderful gameplay. Psychonauts have both. 4. Railroad Tycoon III Another Sid Meier's masterpiece. There are still games that have 'tycoon' in their names that I'm not ashamed of playing:-) 5. SimCity series Probably the best city-building simulator ever. 6. Half-Life series Good setting, great story, classic gameplay... and the landscape I see everyday out of my window (I'm speaking about HL2, of course;-) What else is there to wish?:-) 7. Jagged Alliance 2 Tactical simulators are very popular here in Russia. They made quite a lot of them here: E5 Brigade, Silent Storm, ALPHA Antiterror, you name it. They're good but they all lack what the JA2 used to have: those greatly designed mecenaries' personalities. 8. Space Rangers This simulation game has dull 2D-graphics, primitive sound and traditional story. What makes it great are challenging planetary quests and the 'fully simulated trigger-free AI-powered eco-system' S.T.A.L.K.E.R. brags to have, only in the Space Rangers it actually works. 9. Civilization series It's the work of a genius. I'd apperciate it if Sid Meier did something new instead of polishing the old idea without end though, but who am I to complain?:-) 10. Worms: Armageddon Probably the only game I enjoyed playing with friends. It's very easy to learn, it's very hard to master, it's a great fun for a big company, and those worms are so-o cute:-) And, they are 2D!

SimpReal More offtopic! Cool, someone who gets it. Very interesting story, I'm glade you came to your senses when the community changed. I didn't start playing games online until 2003 or late 2002, so I wouldn't know >_> Counter-Strike was actually one of the first online games I played, but because of these symptoms you described, I never got into it. Everyone's way overcompetitive and because of the general stupidity and everyone being arses, it just completely ruined the fun. I thought online gaming was freakin' awesome, but it just reminded me of a big schoolyard in first grade. When I played in the CS:S clan it was fun, we had our own server and basically just played together, having lots of fun and sharing laughs. Even got through tournaments/clan matches without making it too serious... then the clan leader started to recruit more members, more and more everyone changed and suddenly everyone's running around "zomg what are your rates?" I'm not gonna make a list, you've seen it -.- We were going to meet up at Dreamhack in Sweden in the winter of 2006, they were all gonna come over from the UK, never happened though, I got fed up and left the clan. Now because of the conflicts I think everyone split into different clans. Only played for about a year and no more than 15 hours a week, as opposed to the average 25-60 hours/week of CS players >_> Sure you have lots more, better memories. So what it boils down to is: playing games with others is fun, fun doesn't last, people submit to primitive urges, I hate people, people hate me.

More CS offtopic rabble (this really should be split appart and put into a new thread) I didnt realise so many people where interested or ex-interested in Counter Strike so... I should explain its not the game I hate, its the people. I do occasionaly set up a game against BOT's, but if I wanted to play against BOT's, I'd play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I'm an extremely competative person, winning is like a drug. If I'm completely honest, seeing my place on the LisaCon was a disapointment... its more disapointing in myself for not doing the best job (but it helps to be beaten fairly, by great masterpeices of art). So to be beaten on Counter Strike by a loud mouth obsessive player really gets me going, especially on a lucky shot. I just cant have fun anymore doing that. Sometimes I get the feeling nobody goes there to win, just to laugh at who ever they are beating. Its for these reasons I thought people in clans where stupid, and obsessed. But, obviously after hearing SimpReal's story, this is only a recent developement. Wouldnt be so bad if the chat function was disabled. (End of rant) Sorry for taking up so much room on something offtopic

Tbh I'm not really much of a gamer, I don't tend to keep up with all the latest, and "coolest" games >_< So I don't really have a top 5 so I will mention games I have played and enjoyed a lot - Crash Bandicoot! All of them ^_^ But the absolute top one would have to be Crash Team Racing I shall never become tired of it, I've had too much practice and can now boast about beating everyone who plays against me > - Monkey Island, unlike most games it doesn't involve much violence ,...but I guess that's what I liked about it. It was different, it took brain power, and the plot, characters, everything...just very amusing and addictive Nice set of games (The 3rd being the best). - The Longest Journey, I played this after Monkey Island. It's a similar style of game, have to do puzzles, talk to people, find out about stuff...it was also way too addictive X) Dreamfall is the 2nd one and is also really good. The graphics are astonishing, however I've still got to complete it - Spyro, like Crash,..I just LOVE these games. My friend owns a rare version of "Year of the Dragon" which has a skate boarding level, but combine it with the special cheats..it's even better - The Simpsons Road Rage, I couldn't miss this one out, but it's only because I have a really old PS2 version with plenty of bugs in it...it makes the game extremely funny - Sonic The Hedgehog, still have a Sega mega drive XD - Ty The Tasmanian Tiger, it made it because of the turkey level X) *Is so easily amused* - Star Wars Lego, You get to blow jar jar binks up into little lego bricks! It is a MUST! Can't think of any more right now, I know there are a lot more,...but overall, I basically enjoy games I can DO! Not ones I can't seem to get the knack of 'cos otherwise I throw a tantrum X) Hence why I don't tend to play many shooting games! >_< *is like a little kid* EDIT: Oh wait,...how could I have forgotten Worms?? It may be a "shooting game" in some respects but, it's so funny Ah and The Simpsons Hit and Run, I loved that game also ^_^
