A world without string...?! Is CHAOS!!

« on: July 31, 2007, 13:59 »

Right, well. I've reached that point again where something, or someone, has said or done something, which makes me or my brain, do something or somewhat, that makes art fun again.
Go me! Big Grin

Last night spent a lot of time drawing and I actualy enjoyed it. I was mearly trying to replicate an old picture of mine (this one, coloured here), and I came up with this:

Maggie in the Snow 2

Its tweeked in a way that, its based on the recent special episode of Top Gear, in which two of the three presenters (Clarkson and May) drove to the north pole in a '07 Hilux pickup, while racing the other presenter (Hammond) on a dog sled. I tried searching for a picture of the truck on google so I could add it to the background, but could only find a older model of the same car.
The rest of the picture is pretty much the same story as with all of my pictures. Started out as an experiment, then developed into what you see.

Concrit is encouraged. Wink I need help with this.

Edit: Oh, and by the way, does anybody have a problem with the 'Maggie bump' that I usualy draw? Most older Maggies I've seen usualy have Lisa or sometimes Bart shaped cheeks. The one I've always done was more to preserve the look she had as a baby while sucking her pacifier. But, does it spoil the picture with it being too different or, wrong? Opinions please. Smile

Nice work Casper! I like the way that you blended in the colours in the colour version of the first picture! Gives it a very nice and Wintery effect! Are you going to colour the Second One?

Great job, Casper. The detail on the overall picture was wonderful; adding to its complexity. Maggie's overbite looks a bit more realistic in this one. Also, the shading is excellent, subtle enough to not notice on first sight, but good enough to add more to the picture.

Absolutely not, it's a distinctive and cute particular, not to mention that your explanation for it makes it even more "precious". So by all means keep it in your future piccies!
As forthe pic, definitely you're improved in drawing both Maggie (she looks more feminine here, not to mention cute!) and the background/objects, with a good hint of pencil shading that helps the picture not to become too clumsy. I have not really much of concrit here... love Maggie's hair falling back on her face!

Oh, maybe the wheel could be a bit rounder, and alos there would need to be a better contrast/difference of lines from Maggie to the vehicle, because like now they kind of blend with heach other, making difficult to see her left arm. This is all Smile

Maggie in the Snow 2 - I do like! She looks on-model, and I like her surroundings. Good work with Maggie's face especially... she looks cute! Smile A suggestion: try to spread characters' eyelashes more wide, so they appear not only on the top of the eye, but at its sides too. Usually that adds some more charm. Smile Also, great work with the car.

You already know what I think but I shall comment properly on here. Big Grin
Maggie looks fine, she's on model,..you may complain but really,...you were being a perfectionist Wink It's great and I don't feel you can really do anything to improve it in anyway so I'm not going to add any crit to this...
I am impressed with how you drew the car...they're hard x_x I've tried before but failed...

Unfortunately I didn't get round to seeing that episode of Top gear cos I was on a long drive home Wink and had quite a few busy days after, though my brother spoilt it for me anyway >_<

Anyway, overall it's a nice sketch indeed Smile

Wow, very nice! Car is very well drawn, indeed, so detailed! And you even have drawn tires printings on the ground Eek And Maggie is so sweet, I see nothing wrong on her face. Her smile is unique - shy, but not to much, very natural, but special at the same time, dunno how to describe properly. And this outfit matches her good. Well done, keep it up!

Damn, you've all got such talent! I'm by no means a professional, but I like her laid back attitude, by which I mean her stance, clothing and sinking her hands into the hoodie pouch and also how it is combined with that sweet, charming look, like how her hair hangs down from the cap, friendly smile and her bright welcoming eyes with pretty eyelashes.
The drawing is explicit, and (I'm not good at this) it looks like she's waiting (and excited) to go take a ride with whomever she may be lookin at. Very impressive, I hope you'll have lots of fun drawing more of these! (and that my interpretation of them aren't way off lol.) Big Grin

Wow I had to go back in time to get to this thread. Tongue (And I never thanked any of you for the nice comments Sad Sorry Embarrassed)

As proof that I'm only partly dead, some where in this vast mess of rub outs is a picture! 10 points to who finds it first. Smile

A Fragment

Sorry about the corner. This was orignaly a scrap peice of paper which I cut my time table out of, I thought I'd use the waste of paper for some doodling, and came up with this. Like 'Maggie In The Snow 2', this is a sort of revisit of an old picture I once drew, which I cant find the original in all the nicked webspace I possess...

Not sure if I uploaded this one before either, so I'll do just in case. Something that I scribbled a few week ago in a trance of The Mantle. It isnt finished but I have doubts if it ever will be. Embarrassed

I like this one, it's really well drawn. Lisa's reflection in water... how can I put this without hurting your feelings... Lisa's reflection in the water is AWESOME! (heheh, you thought I was going to say something bad  Tongue)

The Lodge
Nothing to say really, everything I said about the last pic applies here  Smile, except for the "Lisa's reflection in the water" part, because you know, there's no water... Therefore she can't have a reflection... in the... water...

The first picture has depth in it - good job with the perspective. Lisa's overbite looks not big enough, but everything else (especially eyes! aw) done very well. Love the reflection in the water. About the "mess of rubs" - you're not the first person who finds Lisa's hair hard to draw after a while, she is a spikey mystery Big Grin

The second picture - wow, man! I love it, it's so detailed and the idea is good, so I don't want to nitpick it at all. Great job!

Thanks guys, really appreciate the words. Smile

I really had a problem with her overbite, maybe due to not drawing enough or maybe most of the overbites I draw arnt very good, meaning I just need that vital ingredient; practice! The hair goes without saying, its a nightmare to get right.

I also feel I might have over done the shading in parts, could do with being toned down a bit. Definitely need to fill in all the gaps of white too, but I can blame it on it being a doodle, and not an 'important' picture to put lots of effort into. There is a feather in the water also which, funnily enough, was completely on accident. I did some of those lines by mistake and changed it to a feather to hide them. Tongue

Anyway, thanks again. Here's to mooowwaaa!!! Big Grin

wheeeeee! new art ^-^''....

"A Fragment" : It is a very deep drawing, the simplicity of the lines is beatiful to  the observer .. At the same time the atmosphere creates a very special feeling ...  Smile
Technically is a picture of good quality , yet they could achieve a better effect  with a good use of the perspective. but the art is the power to transmit sensations and this sketch is beatiful...

"The Lodge":  very nice scene .... the nature is always a good site to the artist (and to Lisa)   Wink.....

That vas pretty long ago since you posted something in the art section as I can remember. And I like that you still draw - inteseting and original art.

First one has calm and a bit sad mood. When she's looking like that I'm always interested what she thinks about so self-plunged. As if everything around exists no more, and only deep, sad thoughts...
The pic looks some ripped though Wink

And the second has very good detail vork, I think you have already very developed abilities to draw something and not only Lisa, who's surely looks nice here. I only wonder where, in what deep forest she's located now? Big Grin That wooden "izba" is something really surprising to see. As well as the work with trees, the ones almost perfect. But it's not dark picture and her playing with snowman is a very pleasant scene. Thank you for your works.

Wow casper...... i LOVE both of those pictures, even with all the rubbing out on A Fragment i find that my favourite, list looks exceptionally cute and I will mirror Gustavo's words on this too.

The lodge is a good scene too, shows the true innocence of childhood and she looks at piece while building that snowman Smile

Thank you for sharing!

Thanks guys. Smile I'll try and get some more up soon enough, been away a while but I'm still here! Big Grin

'A Fragment' really was supposed to be a happy kinda scene. Lisa reflecting on the beauty of the sea, or something like that. I need to change the expression slightly if it is seen as a sad picture by it.

'The Lodge', I guess I wanted a bit of contradiction. Lisa alone in a scary wood full of leafless tree's in the cold of winter. But ofcourse, turning the negative to positive, so she can be happy in the snow. Smile

Thank you all Smile Onward!
