I've recently been watching this guy's videos, and let me be the first to say, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. This guy's in his twenties, and what he does basically is take the worst, shittiest games for the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) and review them. Since he only reviews the worst of the worst, each review is obviously nothing but a flamefest of the game. His videos do contain a lot of swearing, and otherwise profane language, so if you're scared away by such things, I advise you not to watch. If you don't mind this though, these videos will leave you in stitches. The way he argues common sense against the way some of these video games are designed is hilarious. I'll post one and, depending on the reaction of the community, post more later if you all enjoy them. http://youtube.com/watch?v=y306cWw98a4

Black_ravenGlad you liked it! I guess I'll post another one since we've only had one review and it's been positive, so if for nothing else, this next one is for you Rachel http://youtube.com/watch?v=9DfdRdOM_B0

Nows there's a chap who tells it like it is... . I'd not seen these two but there were a few posted in the Youtube thread on the GFC, one of which was a Ninja Turtles one with an "impossible" jump in it. The guy's reaction when he finds out it isn't is priceless.

* Dagdamor needs to recover, is twitching uncontrollably under the chair Okay, that was one of the most funniest game reviews I've ever seen. I've lost 20 Mb of traffic (about a year of constant nice ICQ chatting), but I don't regret it really. And I can't tell what cracked me more - that guy's nerdy speech style (reminds me of a Comic Book Guy so much), those great movie insertions, or the fact that the guy's right in his every word! Indeed there were some shitty NES games around...

janglewolf"Oh wait a sec... You can just walk over it...??" *dead silence* The TMNT one was the first one that I saw of his, and after watching I couldn't stop laughing. I started watching more and more and just about each one was hilarious. Edit: Well I guess since everyone has liked them so far, I'll post another one http://youtube.com/watch?v=V4we8iFk-fY

Okay, couldn't resist and watched this one as well. It's amazing... poor guy, trying to jump over these blocks for hours, only to reveal that you can just walk it over. How his head didn't explode that moment? My personal dictionary of english invectives has also grown a lot... Although the first one (Back to the Future) was better, imo. Less swearing but more sense (and those movie cuts were awesome )

DagdamorHehe yeah, watching his videos gives you new ways to curse that you would never have thought of before. The "Back to the Future" review was somewhat unique in the sense that he used clips from the movie, he doesn't do this in any others, but in a few (like "Friday the 13th" and "Nightmare on Elm Street") he mixes it up by having the actual character of Jason or Freddie come into his house and force him to play their game, even though it sucks ass He does a good job in keeping people entertained with these. Here's another one, "Top Gun". http://youtube.com/watch?v=ofM11nPzFo0Relive the anger of trying to land that damn plane!

Here's another review, "McKids" http://youtube.com/watch?v=qVBerX6DzmcAnd since these videos seem to be so popular with you all, I'll throw in another video series by him that's currently only up to five parts. So here's part one of "You Know What's Bullshit?" starring James Rolfe (the Nerd) http://youtube.com/watch?v=bN6fxqvGBSs

Bump with another review, "Friday the 13th". http://youtube.com/watch?v=1raUvGNbZFg"You Know What's Bullshit?" Part 2... http://youtube.com/watch?v=FffTJk-gFKcAnd also a few other things starring James Rolfe, first of all a "movie quote of the week" video that he does for a website, this one about the 2005 "Doom" movie... http://youtube.com/watch?v=P_6bn2H3BoAAnd a review that he does of Spiderman 3. Quite the contrary from his Angry Nintendo Nerd "let's rip this thing to shreds" style reviews. http://youtube.com/watch?v=5G8LTe9m07Q

I've just finished watching this video, and I figured since this is more like a James Rolfe video thread, I'd post it here. This video contains EXTREMELY graphic violence and gore, it was made as an homage to the old zombie splatter movies. I find it kind of funny actually, that the only thing that has color in this video is the blood. It's more humouros than horrific, really, the only thing that is pretty disturbing in this video is the excessive amount of blood and gore. It struck me as funny, the two caretakers' very casual view on the walking dead, it almost reminded me of the movie "Shaun of the Dead", if any of you have seen that (one of my all time favorite movies, by the way). Anyway, for those of you who have come to love James Rolfe's every work, as I have, here's "The Deader the Better". http://youtube.com/watch?v=3SjV8jfl20E

GeorgeHarrisonHere's another one, "Top Gun". "Mission 2: Destroy an enemy aircraft carrier. Alright... fine, al long as I don't have to ****ing land on it!" A funny one too, although I still like the first ones you've posted here more. In this video, there is much more "offtopic" stuff and less game analysis. "Missions" 3 and 4 made me laugh.

Well, now that I'm back, I suppose I'll give this thread a little bump. For those of you who watched the "Friday the 13th" review, this is the continuation mentioned at the end. I'm sure just by the ending of the previous one, you can guess which game is being reviewed before even clicking the link. http://youtube.com/watch?v=3p713bNaO4AAnd, that oh-so-beloved side series, "You Know What's Bullshit", part 3. http://youtube.com/watch?v=mBBwKWSxoMI

Well I've just been to ScrewAttack.com, the Angry Nintendo Nerd's home site, the place where he got his big break. A lot of his stuff is on YouTube, but ALL of his stuff is on ScrewAttack.com. The thing that caught my eye was that one of his videos on YouTube was a 50 second trailer for his review of a few Simpsons games. And so I'm thinking, since this is a Simpsons forum, how more appropriate could it be? http://gametrailers.com/player/22435.html Watch as James Rolfe eats his shorts... literally. And for those of you who want to see the final installment of the previous two "unfinished" game reviews (Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street), here it is, The Power Glove. What a piece of shit that thing was. Oh man, now I'm starting to talk like him. http://youtube.com/watch?v=MYDuy7wM8Gk

Here are two more reviews, the first being a little short and not very on-topic, mostly because James Rolfe considers it to be one of the worst games ever made... http://youtube.com/watch?v=6M_4Yqk65f8...or is it? http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=17324&type=flv I consider this review to be one of his funniest, if not THE funniest. Also the longest (I think), and the ending is perhaps the most funny I've seen. I had quite a time controlling myself I was laughing so hard.

Didn't expect to find a thread about this guy here o_O I've been following this guy for several months, I just love his overly brutal honesty in his game reviews and his good reasoning/points in his bullshit videos and movie reviews. He just put up a short review of The Simpsons movie if anyone wants to see it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6gGR3FsTT8&NR=1It's kind of concise and doesn't really contain any spoilers, so I think it's safe to watch it whether you've seen the movie or not.

KasperI'm glad to meet another James Rolfe fan I watched his first video back in May and have been a huge fan ever since. His review of the Simpsons movie is only encouraging, but I'm still debating when or if I'm going to see the movie in theaters. Signs are pointing to that I'll probably just wait until it's out on DVD. Here's a few of his latest videos on YouTube, first a video of his comments on the latest E3: http://youtube.com/watch?v=5IGS0XX76i0And his thoughts on the prospects of making a "Ghostbusters 3" movie. http://youtube.com/watch?v=btHYmObdGKk

Heh. Whats really to say. With something like Bugs Bunny, I'm pretty sure most people would recognise his catchphrase. Though, the ending is pretty funny. Lots of violence too.

Half truth there, most people in a country where the native language is english would recognise his catchphrase. Other countries usually dub most/all of their cartoons.

Not even that (I recognized the phrase, too) - just the fact that it's something about a WB character doesn't make me curious and go "OMG LOL!", clicking every link I see. If you post something for the others, say at least several words about it, otherwise it looks rude and/or spammy IMHO. Sorry for going offtopic here (again)... just thought I have to say that.

ALMWell, nice to see that I've been able to hook you on James Rolfe's vids. The Bugs Bunny one was great, nothing like seeing him tear up a good ol' fashioned NES game... and I believe he mentioned this one in a previous review, perhaps the McKids one... If I haven't posted it already, here's his review of the Atari 5200... can AVGN find the right controller to play the games? Let's find out... http://www.gametrailers.com/player/17031.html?type=flvAnd also, "You Know What's Bullshit?" Part 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMoCgVDbWO0

SpiderPig More than likely to enforce the visual appearance of "nerd" that he's trying to create. I'm sure James Rolfe is down-to-earth enough in real life, and I can vouch for this, having seen some of his "normal" videos.

Bit of a thread bump here, but James Rolfe has released a few new reviews that are, true to his past, hilarious. First off - "Dragon's Lair" http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28184.html?type=flvAnd second, "Halloween" http://www.gametrailers.com/player/27289.html?type=flv

Featuring Cameos from Stuttering Craig and Handsome Tom. Part 1Part 2

Haha... that was pretty good. I laughed pretty hard at the model they chose for the Ghost of Christmas Future, Dracula from Castlevania 2 , that was really good It was interesting to see him talk about games for the Wii, too, even if it was done in the "future".

A nice little tidbit he did which I thought was pretty good was that he blew into the Wii and onto the Disc to clean it just like you would with a cartridge. Do you get the feeling that the Virtual Boy will be the next thing he reviews?

I had watched these and I have to say: THESE ARE SO GOD DAMN FUNNY!!! I just watched the reviews of "Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout", "Friday the 13th" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street" At the 1st one, The Nerd beat the crap out of Bugs Bunny, In the 2nd one, Jason forced the Nerd to play that game or else he's dead and in 3rd one, I liked the part, when Freddy says to him "You like Nintendo? You like shitty games? You fucking nerd." I had to watch more of these.

The Ironing is delicious. The Angry Video Game Nerd who trashes bad video games gets one of his own but it was designed that way. Featuring a NES quality version of his theme song as well as commentary within the game from James Rolfe himself. See the readme file for the controls.

I will revive this thread from the grave. Do you guys remember those Atari Jaguar commercials, what I showed a long time ago? Well, the Nerd got his hands on the Jaguar now and witness the wrath and some crappy games of the Jag. AVGN: Atari Jaguar (Part II): http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47108.htmlYou can find the first part at the cinemassacre.com.

Yeah. I watched that with my sister before the 2nd part came. What stuff the DVD sets have, Gary? Bonus features or other? Jaguar has only 5 good games in my opinion. Tempest 2000, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Rayman and Alien vs. Predator. Cybermorph, Kasumi Ninja and that CD add-on are really crappy ones. I tell ya.

There are behind the scenes documentaries, tours of the old nerd room, outtakes, and commentaries by James Rolfe, Mike Matei and Kyle Justin.
Episodes that had movie clips like Back to the Future and Rocky had them taken out for copyright reasons though. So I might expect the Wizard & Mario 3's episode to be pretty trimmed or missing when that gets to DVD.

I agree. I have burned all the AVGN episodes to one DVD (minus Back to the Future and the new ones) Have you saw that episode featuring that Michael Jackson's Moonwalker on Sega Genesis/MegaDrive? I showed that episode to my 15 year old cousin, when I visited him for his birthday. We laughed so hard.

One of the best episodes was both parts of Batman. The Joker got some crappy games in his ass. And some really weird NES add-ons. Like that Konami's LaserScope.

Agree. I have came to my sense about the NES version. Lots of typos, gets annoying when have to start all over at the beginning, item swapping (that gas mask/card thingy) I likely play Metal Gear Solid on PSX and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on PlayStation 3 than that NES monstrosity. And btw, that NES game dosen't have Metal Gear itself. Only a Super Computer, which must be destroyed.

Yeah but... that would class your TV remote as a gun. Anyway, enjoyed the video, my favourite is the Metal Gear review

Another AVGN is here! And this time, we gonna meet probably one of the well known comic book groups in history. The games are good and bad. But here we find two bad games for NES and two other games on Genesis/MegaDrive. So here it is. Marvel Comics own.... X-MEN! http://www.gametrailers.com/player/48906.html?type=flvSince that new X-Men movie came out starring Wolverine, this is a good time to show this episode of AVGN now.

Not the best release =/ James got really carried away with all the intermission segments in this one. IMO, "Wizard of Oz" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" are the episodes that have the ideal ratio of reviewing sh*tty games to goofing off with Mike Matei.

Continuing the Castlevania games right now. CASTLEVANIA (PART 2): http://www.gametrailers.com/video/angry-video-screwattack/57923This video includes reviews of Castlevania II: Simon's Quest & Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Looks like Castlevania II is back since 5 years ago. The Nerd meets his biggest nightmare once again: Simon's Quest (you guys remember Rolfe's first video?)

Still going with the Castlevania. CASTLEVANIA (PART 3): http://www.gametrailers.com/player/58496.htmlThe Nerd reviews 3 Castlevania games this time. Including Super Castlevania IV and Castlevania: Dracula X (known as Castlevania: Vampire's Kiss here in Europe) for SNES and Castlevania on N64. I don't like that N64's Castlevania, because it's camera. :O

This is it! The final chapter is here!! CASTLEVANIA (PART 4): http://www.gametrailers.com/player/59132.html The final part of the Castlevania Marathon brings two games. Castlevania: Bloodlines (known as Castlevania: The Next Generation in Europe) on Sega Genesis/Mega Drive & Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on PlayStation. I have played Bloodlines and it was cool, but I think Symphony of the Night looks awesome.

Oh boy! Now, the Nerd had come back playing shitty games again. This game is so bad, that it will make us all mad. LITTLE RED HOOD: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/angry-video-screwattack/59650Unlicensed and an absolute joke with a similar cartridge to Super Noah's Ark 3D.

Wasn't very angry, but still funny, entertaining and informative. Looking forward to his next episode. Always interesting to watch how crappy some of those old games are (were)... In contrast to them many current apparently bad games look (are) like masterpieces...
