Do you think the Simpsons are perfect as a family show? Or something needs to be changed?

Several years ago, I would say "yes, indeed". The main thing that started to worry me is the increasing amount of silly/adult jokes. They weren't mixing well with the family show, there were certain episodes that I wouldn't like to show to my Mom, or to my children (if I had any). That's no good. But as far as I can see, the most recent seasons had "turned away" from the silly humor and aimed to more complex (although less realistic, sometimes even confusing) plots instead. So... I personally like the show as it is now, and wouldn't change much, even if I could. You?

I think the only thing that really needs work, is repeating certain plot points with different characters. Its easy to fool a teenager into thinking its a new and original plot, but its a bit obvious when you get older. Kind of kills the fun I guess. Tongue

I like Family Guy myself, the humour is crude, and its completely stupid. But I love The Simpsons, because theres so much depth and you can relate to the characters... on occasion anyway. And its funny. Smile

Unoriginal plots don't disappoint me much, it's still possible to find very interesting moments in usual situations. But some adult jokes are really bothering - I don't want to see Simpsons looking like Family Guy mixed with South Park, they have to avoid too much jokes based on sexuality and rudeness. Old school rules, I like traditional Simpsons Smile

I haven't been able to see any new Simpson episodes for a long time now,..probably miles behind x_x (Thanks to virgin media and sky -_-)
Anyway,...I've always seen The Simpsons as something aimed towards teenagers and adults rather than a "cartoon for little kids" (Even though I know little kids to watch it anyway)
From the last "new episodes" I've seen I wouldn't say it was a "perfect family show" since the jokes were quite crude and sometimes just cringey... that at times I'd just be embarrassed watching it O_o

However, despite these few odd epiosdes, I still love The Simpsons since...well..., as Casper has said, the depth in the show and the characters make it really stand out against such shows as Family Guy, South Park, etc... It just seems that more "special" to me Tongue

I like the Simpsons the way they are. I like that the show is suitable for any audience (even my cat watches it) and that there is a person in Springfield, or a mix of several that are similar to you. I think that besides the entertainment viewers look for themselves on that show. I may be wrong, but that is what I believe.
