OPUS
You have a point there... It's easy to make friends, but it's easy to make enemies aswell. And that's because we... How can I put this... don't know them like we know our RL friends. Does someone understand me?

I have two sides on this subject...

1) Is that no matter what, the friends you meet online will always be there when you need it. No face to face of course...

2) We don't know them aswell as the friends we have in RL. I'm not saying the ones we meet online are bad, but it's not the same thing.

Am I getting through to anyone?

The chances that Internet will suddenly cease its existence are about the same as with the real world, so those arguments don't make much sense anyway Tongue we could get A-bombed any moment, does this mean that we shouldn't make any friends at all? No. The same with Internet.

My point is simple: meeting people via Internet is not the same as with RL, but those are still people, and those people are real - and sometimes they are even nicer than people you meet face-to-face. There is something amazing in being able to communicate with someone living on the opposite side of the globe. I don't see anything bad in it.

But sometimes that can be either really lucky, or really expensive, but most of the times both to pull off. Tongue

I suppose I lucked out when I was paid to fly to Tucson to meet my fellow SMF Friends. It was a fun trip, but can be weird adjusting to that you are now talking face to face to someone that was just a window of interactive text, and it can be even more weird going back to the window of interactive text. By the way, Internet allowed me to order different stuff from US/UK. Like that "Ultimate Simpsons" book I'm so proud of. Smile It's plain impossible to find any other way to order decent Simpsons-related merchandize any other way here. One more point goes to Intrabutt Big Grin
