Why do you like the simpsons? The Simpsons are simply a funny show that I enjoy watching every now and then. Some of the episodes have fond memories tied to them, and as such I'd say that I prefer the older seasons to the newer ones.
What do you think about the Simpsons as a critical look at American Society?I think it's hilarious. Most of their satires of common American culture are right on the mark, especially their portrayal of overzealous Christians like Ned Flanders.

You run into people like that every now and then. Occasionally they'll throw in a reference to current society and you just can't help but laugh, because you know it's true.
Do you think that it is offensive to the Americans? Not at all. I'm American, and it doesn't offend me in the least. I believe that anyone who can't laugh at themselves... well, needs to work on that.

Besides, the creators of the Simpsons are mostly Americans anyway. They're not laughing at us, they're laughing with us.
Who is your favorite character? Why?I'd have to say my favorite character is actually a pair of characters. Mr. Burns and Smithers win out here; I find the duo hilarious. Smithers and his supposed "love" for Mr. Burns, and Burns's obliviousness to the whole thing. The way Burns is constantly trying to appear "evil", or the way he acts like a young man sometimes (getting a girlfriend). I think the relationship between the two is well-done and adds a critical part to the overall humor of the show.
In retrospect, you could say that this was one of the factors that contributed to my dislike of the Simpsons movie: Burns and Smithers were hardly ever in it. The essential humor brought to the show by its well-developed side characters was missing. Quite a disappointment.
