Indeed. From a final release onwards patches within that series are released as "mods" that can be installed in about four clicks from within the package manager (1.1.6 -> 1.1.7 can be done this way, but 1.1 to 2.0 can not). Remember, no software can be 100% bug free. So there will be more patches for it.

Meh. MySQL table crash again. Fixed.
I wonder why SMF is so good at crashing the "sessions" table; never seen the same symptoms on different forum engines...

I haven't seen other SMF boards crashing like this - maybe a bug in the version that is installed here?

I've seen quite a lot of them. This crash doesn't have to be a bug in SMF - it's actually a MySQL bug, because none kind of query should cause a table crash. Maybe it's because of our MySQL version. But for some reason, I've seen this message (i.e. index file is broken) only on SMF-powered forums. Maybe it's because the engine uses that table in a very heavy way.

So you know, SMF can actually have file-based sessions as well as db based sessions, not sure which would be more adviseable for you guys though. I've actually suffered from the sessions table crashing as well, but only thrice in MT2's entire history, and not once when moving to the 2.0 line starting with the Alphas. Tongue

The call on which method to deal with sessions is up to you. But do upgrade ASAP. (my offer to do it for you still stands)

Probably they just added the simple check in 2.0: If the crashed table is called "sessions", then just truncate it and pretend that nothing has happened Wink
I'm thinking about adding such a trick into LTS code. Discovering your forum being down the whole day is depressing sometimes.
