Not sure this qualifies as FanFiction and it's not worth a new thread, but I wrote a freestyle poem today at work. It's a part of the process of getting into the subject matter for this story, I suppose.
This short piece is done from the perspective of Bleeding Gums Murphy that night in 'Moanin Lisa' and the last few stanza's are from the moment in the episode where Lisa first sees her idol and introduces herself.
Anyways, sorry for the quality. I sucked at poems in school...
"
Not a Hero"
I am not a hero.
I never changed the world,
Saved a life, healed a friend.
I never hoped for more,
Wished for better, set a trend.
I am a fool,
Not a hero.
The life I've led,
The paths I've fled,
All for naught.
Be worth more dead.
No, I am not a hero,
Certainly not a saint.
Age and sex,
Color or creed.
Deep down inside,
We
all still bleed!
I ask you now,
O Lord, my God, the Father,
Hear my prayer,
Upon this starlit bridge,
My heart filled bursting with despair.
I never begged for blood,
So, please, stop this flood!
It's too much, and much too fast to bear!
Am I so vain,
That I'd steal your pain,
For a chance at honest feeling?
It's numbing now,
The window closing.
My time is near,
No need
To fear
The reaper...
...
What's this?
Redemption, you say?
Salvation in the eyes of a child?
Perhaps God has a plan,
For this old man,
To rise above his station.
I am not a hero, no...
But maybe there's still time,
For hope.
