Still, there is nothing I would be ashamed of showing in fron of Lisa or letting her know about.  Smile

"That guy" was Hugh Parkfield, the episode was "Lisa's Wedding", and who knows, he could be a good husband for Lisa. Better than any of Cletus' sons indeed :/ They had a fight - so what? They loved each other, it was more important...

What the hell? Such a snob is not the right person for Lisa Simpson at all. He was selfish and arrogant... really, in the case she will have taken (tempus future II Big Grin ) his hand in marriage, I would never have dreamed about being a Lisa-fan.
There is a better man for Lisa.

btw... what´s with that Cleatus´ sons thing...? Is there actually an episode with a realationship to  Lisa??? If yes, I missed it.

No, no, I don't remember such either Big Grin I just used him as an example. It wasn't accidental that Hugh was from outside Springfield, was even from another continent - there are no people who could be a decent boyfriend/husband for Lisa in Springfield. Only episodic characters like Thelonious or Colin, who appear once and then disappear because they are not funny. :/

You're not right, Hugh could be a nice couple for Lisa. He acted like a snob only in the last scene. Remember how he acted during the rest of the episode.

Yeah... how he acted...

Well, actually you cannot see much of how he acts while they where in London - no real life situations there. I judge him from how he acted while living in Springfield.

He cried because of a burning flag of GreatBritania - He was frightened of the thought that Lisas family could squatting in a ditch poking berries up their noses - he went with Bart and Homer to a pornographic magazine warehouse and hid in the dumpster (like he > have to < adapt to Homer and Bart) - He think it is stupid wearing Homers pig-cufflinks - he wants Lisa to leave her family for ever and never let her see them again - he also seem to be determinant whether they are getting children or not.

This guy is a bitch of a man. Wink

Yeah, stick a fork in him and see if he bleeds. Tongue

He was a student, and probably just needed to grow up a little. However, too little too late... or was it too much too soon? I doubt they knew each other as well as they should before they proposed. That said, such a rich upper class gentleman would call 'test driving' a relationship would be too proletariat, and since divorce is looked down upon... he was never going to win.  Rolls Eyes

I didn't like Hugh mainly because I found him really snobbish and full of himself (and selfish in the way he asked Lisa to just abandon her family) - if he can't accept her families faults and foibles, then he doesn't deserve her
