Yes, I remember that LisaCon still isn't finished, but artists already did their work for it, so... Smile
SamuS (remember him?) offered to open a new art contest. The rules are really interesting, so I agreed. If LTS joins, there will be three forums (Simpsons- and Futurama-dedicated) participating in it. But we still need more people. Smile If you want to participate, choose your team and post about it here.

The Rules

1. There are two teams - Simpson fans and Futurama fans. It is good if both teams have about equal number of members, although it's not necessary. What is necessary is the desire to draw your favorite characters in unusual role and/or situation.

2. Each team should draw certain number of pictures - the style, technical stuff, complexity etc is not important. (Just remember that colored picture, as always, is more preferable rather than a black/white sketch.) Each picture should show certain character in certain situation/role. After presenting all pictures, judges grade each and decide which team has won the contest.

3. The topic of this contest is "Mythology". Each character should be portrayed as one of the divinities listed below:

- Supreme Divinity
- Divinity of Seas and Oceans
- Divinity of Sky
- Divinity of Fire
- Divinity of Earth
- Divinity of Love
- Divinity of Underworld (not sure it's the right word... I meant "anything below the ground")
- Divinity of War.

So, each team should draw exactly 8 pictures.

Important: Remember that neither your chosen characters, nor their roles may not repeat. That means that you'll have to use secondary characters from the show too. Which ones - depends on your team's decision. Also, remember that everything else - divinity's appearance, existence/absence of additional characters on the pic - is up to you.

4. Every forum's member can be a judge. After posting the pictures, there will be an open poll where everyone can vote for the best picture. Each vote counts as one point. The team collected the best score is a winner. Judges should try and make their decisions based on picture's quality, complexity, originality, and how well the character fits his/her role on the drawing.

5. The rules are subject to change.

And the last thing - this one is going to be really interesting, don't stand aside! We need your help, both teams Smile So post here if you like to participate, and which team you choose. Right now both teams have about equal number of members (I'll post the detailed info later), so both teams need more.

Speaking of the LisaCon results, when are they coming out anyway?

Anyway... I'll go to The Simpsons team. I like Futurama too, but I never tried to draw some character from Futurama, and it would be a mess if I tried, so I decided to play safe and go to the Simpsons team.

You can count on me in The Simpsons team Smile

This sounds interesting. I'd like to put my name down as a 'maybe' for Team Futurama, because I have an idea for the god of seas and oceans and I'm just that predictable.  Gigi

Some questions:

1) Which site is this competition being held on?

2) Is there a deadline already or a time at which teams are supposed to get together?

3) Would the team draw eight pictures between however many artists, or would we get to do one picture each?

4)
Remember that neither your chosen characters, nor their roles may not repeat. That means that you'll have to use secondary characters from the show too. Which ones - depends on your team's decision.
-- Does this refer to the main figure in the picture or various background figures too? (I suspect the former
but it's good to check).

5) Can I weasel out of it if someone's already bagged my idea?

Put me down as a tentative yes for this, subject to possible change later (quite busy currently Tongue). I'd prefer simpsons, but could have a crack at some futurama.

CargoOfDarkness
Beb
Argh Big Grin I hoped that any of you would join the Simpsons team (since I'm in it, too)... but good enough that you joined, or thinking about doing it Smile

D.B.
Oh, it would be great, hope you won't change your mind.

2 everyone: here is the current teams state:

Simpsons Team
- Dagdamor
- Sheffa
- Ilyich
- Nosferaty
- El_Barto
- D.B. (thinking)

Futurama Team
- SamuS
- Amirel
- Predator
- Dr.X
- CargoOfDarkness
- Beb (thinking)

If you ask me, I'd say that Simpsons team needs one more experienced artist... *looks at Marco with hope*

Beb
1. ISFF (www.allsimpsons.ru), but SAL (www.futurama.su) and LTS support it.
2. No deadlines so far. As soon as the teams get formed, there will be one perhaps, but not right now.
3. The team can divide work as they like. I.e. one member draws a sketch, another one colors it, third one finishes. Or one member does a picture from beginning to an end.
4. Hmm, good question, I'm not sure about this. Must consult with SamuS Smile So far I'd say that if you used a character for one of the divinities, he/she should not appear as a secondary character on another picture. But I'm not sure.
5. To avoid that, there will be a hidden section on one of the forums (maybe here), where team can sort out things privately and avoid repetitions. Different languages can be a barrier here :/ but I hope we solve that problem.

When the teams are formed and a deadline is set, I just hope it's not between 6th June and 20th June x_x I need to study for my exams...

I agree with El Barto, but I very much doubt I'll compete here. If I did, it would be for Simpsons since I've never drawn Futurama before  Confused I may change my mind depending on how desperate you need a spare artist.

It's nice to see this taking shape already. Smile I'm not really a fan of crossover pics, but if there's a chance that two of my favorite shows can be merged into a couple of great pics, I'd say this is a good opportunity to see some nice artwork.

If it's undecided at the moment, I'd suggest limiting it to the main figure (the deity), otherwise there'd be too much risk of the same character popping up in two or more backgrounds. It wouldn't be worth the effort to make sure a character was only in one background of one picture.

^_^ I would've loved to draw the "Divinity of Seas and Oceans" for the futurama team! Shame I can't draw. (Where's the LisaCon writing contest? xP)
Great idea SamuS, whoever you are! (I think I've seen his name somewhere before, but that's about it. :X) These contests are lots of fun, what with all the pictures coming in a steady stream... apart from sketches by Gustavo and some works of Tiago I haven't seen much interesting in the sketchbook lately. =(

This sounds like a wonderful idea Smile However my only worry is how much time I will have not just cos of exams but after I finish exams I have to go back to school for a certain few "leaver" things ^_^; and I have many many partys to attend x_X...So I'm not sure I'll have enough time Sad So for me it just depends on dates...
If The Simpson team is desperate for any artists then I'll consider entering, if not then please do go on without me Tongue

Black_raven
I'd love to see you in our team... yes, we need more members, mainly because I'm useless as artist.
So, welcome!

Today, a bit later, I will create a separate hidden board for our team. It's required so we could arrange technical stuff like who will draw which characters. SamuS asked me about the same for the Futurama team, and since boards should be separated... two new sections as it seems. Smile
