Please stop mentioning my fanfic alongside your ideas. I find it demeaning. Thank you.

How is it demeaning?
You should be flattered that your fic is so popular.
(BTW, that comic still needs to be done. I think if you ask someone here...)

I don't want my ideas associated with yours. That's all there is to it. Obviously I can't force you but I am asking, nicely I hope, that you stop mentioning my characters and ideas in any sort of association with your own, simply because I don't like your ideas. I find them rather silly, to be frank, and I find it demeaning to have my work associated with them even in passing.

Graham
I hope you keep in mind that you never asked Matt Groening before using his characters in your stories as well.
Who knows what would his reaction be like if he was more lurking and less patient...

What part of "I can't force you but I'm asking nicely" don't you people understand?

"Get a life, you wankers" would be my bet.

This comes from a fellow "wanker", by the way. Don't aim your pomposity weapon at me...

Whoa, whoa. Calm down, Graham. Smile
No need to go mad all of the sudden. We aren't your enemies.

Re: your ask to Wiimeiser - if you want to do it, like you said, nicely, why calling his ideas "silly" and "demeaning" in the first place? Why going all defensive after the slightest sights of disagreement? I was very surprised about your reaction, really. Why not just explain Wiimeiser that his ideas would humiliate the characters (if you think so), if you consider yourself good in fanfiction - why not explain him how that can be avoided? That shouldn't be too hard, and would be a valid point from a serious person.

Dag (sorry for that fake account, can't use my own right now)

Hehe, seconded! The more reasons to take it all calmly. I'm personally not against if someone writes a story based on mine. It was based on a drawing that was based on another fanfic, after all. Tongue And it produced quite a lot of derived drawings, too. I find it natural and harmless!

Why not draw Suzy with wings?

Problem, Dag? Forget your password again? Or did you get your PC hacked downloading porn?

Wiimeiser
I was gonna call you an idiot, but I thought to myself and I already have enough enemies. I don't need to make one on the other side of the world. I think your latest post was a bit unnecessary...

I'm personally not against if someone writes a story based on mine.

But you need to keep in mind that some people might not like it as much. After all, they thought of it first. I don't find Graham's reaction to be something out of this world. I would be rather angry (dunno if that's the word I'm looking for) too if someone used my ideas to base theirs.

But I also think that he could've been a little more calm. Anyway, that's just my opinion.

I don't see why you're assuming I'm "angry" about this.

Serge, I'm sure you have had good reasons for not keeping up with LTS recently but if you go and read what wiimeiser has posted in the last couple of weeks you'll see that he's impervious to any of the actions you suggested. You'll also see why I don't want his ideas associated with mine. Again, I'm asking nicely as is possible in a text-only environment, that he stop. And I think you should also reconsider your assumptions about my motivation in doing this. There was no anger involved at any point. You assumed it was present when it was clearly not and as far as I'm concerned, if you hadn't mentioned it nobody would have thought anger was involved.

Matt Groening has actually gone on record as saying he doesn't mind fanfiction. He isn't able to acknolwedge reading it for legal reasons but it's pretty clear he has read a few. He also likes fan art and has made a point of mentioning it a few times.

Suzy is my character. I have no problem with people using her. I wouldn't be able to stop it even if I did. I do have a specific problem with wiimeiser using her or mentioning her in conjunction with his ideas. These are ideas that include things like extra ovaries and bizarre fetishes about weight gain and paraplegics. It's nothing to do with humiliating characters - they aren't real, they can't be humiliated - and everything to do with the fact that I find his ideas silly, and find the association with my character demeans me. It is entirely within my moral right to ask (nicely, as I said) that he stop. I can't force him to stop, but I have the right to ask. So I have. I can't even do anything if he carries on mentioning her, except to continue asking at every opportunity that he stop, and I will indeed keep on asking him to stop every time he mentioned my characters.

That's a fair concern. I know, based on what I have read of his posts that I would not want to be connected with alot of his... tendencies. Most of his ideas are silly; midriffs, belly buttons, ect. But on occasion he makes comments are either blantantly false and done for shock value or he honestly has no idea there is anything wrong with them.
And I, for one, have trouble decyphering which is which sometimes.

From what I heard, Dag's account is disabled somehow (probably server problems).
