Everybody remembers this console and it's 4 classic games, that are shown in a different commercials. Smile

It's Atari Jaguar, baby! And here are the games:

This console was my dream toy back in... oh i don't remember when  Big Grin loot of time ago though! I wanted to have it so badly, but never got it.

These commercials are way too much for TV indeed, but they're really neat, especially the last two. Heh, to see something like this in TV now would be pretty freaky. Tongue

I played Jaguar first time at midsummer back in 1999. Me, my family and friends rented a cabin at Joutsa and Me and my brother Miikka made an incredible found. Atari Jaguar and 2 games: Tempest 2000 and Wolfenstein 3D. I played Wolfenstein most my time there. Big Grin Big Grin

Hehe! How things have moved on. Smile I never really heard of the Atari Jaguar though. Maybe it was before my time. Sad


My childhood 'games' console was the Amiga 500. Before that we used to have a Spectrum with a working light gun but, I was a bit too young to play that properly. Not sure why but we tended to avoid Nintendo. I had a N64 but didnt like it, and sold it for quater the price I payed for it. After that was a Playstation which, became the norm. Then PS2, then hopefully next January/February 2008, a PS3. Though, these days its more convenient to play, and keep up to date with PC games.

Everybody must remember Atari Jaguar. It is an one of the classic consoles ever created.
It was released at November 18th 1993 in US. Big Grin

I don't remember the console itself but I certainly played that exact version of Doom on the old computer we had.
The first console we got was the Sega Mega Drive which is slightly older but we got it after the Jaguar came out by the looks of it. I believe it still works, though after that we got the Play Station, Play Station 2 and since my brother's added a Nintendo game cube and X Box 360 to the collection but since then I haven't really played these games >_< Been too busy with other things I guess..
But anyway, yeah that was interesting to look back on and see how much things have changed technology wise...

I seriously cant remember it. Confused Though, my time was mostly spent outside when global 'warming' wasnt making it rain cats from mars...

Reading the wiki, I do remember its main rival though, the Sega Mega-Drive. Wasnt a big fan of it though. I guess building 'guns' out of old cricket bats was more thrilling. Tongue

Don't remind me about that Jaguar. I played a few games for it, and they were all just horrible; the controller was confusing, the system itself was ugly, and I just didn't like it at all. Even the Neo-Geo was better than this! The commercials were entertaining, but I just never want to play this system ever again. The worst part is, the system lied. It wasn't a 64-bit system. It wasn't even a 32-bit system. For the most part, it was a 16-bit system. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone, but I wouldn't trust an Atari Jaguar as a paperweight.

Hehe, same here! And I never cared about that "number of bits" thing. If one platform is 16 bit and another one is 64 bit, that doesn't mean that the second one has 4 times better games. It only means that they would be 4 times more expensive. Big Grin And good old Nintendo had some amazing games...

Haha, wow, these are some corny commercials... entertaining though. Big Grin

I've never heard of this until now, I'm in with Leon, more of a Nintendo person. My friends and I still play Mario Kart on the GameCube. Although I could never get used to the Wii...

Ah well, they made some great games back in the day. Nintendo ftw! Smile

Jaguar was selling well, but the downfall had begun just sooner than I thought, When Saturn and PSX came, it was the end of Atari and finally, Atari joined with Sega (Sega joined just then, when Dreamcast was fallen) to make games to different consoles. Big Grin

And George and Leon, I'm a Nintendo person too. Tongue My childhood console was 8-bit NES (Nintendo Entertaiment System) and I started playing games, because of NES and it's 3 games: Super Mario Bros, Ice Climber and Track & Field 2. The first game was Super Mario Bros. I mastered the game, when I was (lets see) at Maggie's age. Eek Big Grin

Right now, I'm more of a Sega fan. I just got a Dreamcast, and realized how easy it is to run burned games on it. Smile Speaking of which, one good thing I will say about the Jaguar is that it still has a fairly strong homebrew and independent game developer's community.

Back to atari's history. After Atari joined and broke up with Sega, it's main platform is now the PC, making games like the "tycoon" and "backyard sports" series. I think the company has finally found a good place in where it is now.

Back in my early days of gaming, I was a total Nintendo fan. [My first system was the SNES] Big Grin

Since we're on the topic of systems, I'll throw in that my first system was an N64. I still remember playing some of those old games on it: Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and my favorite, Goldeneye. It was several years later that I got the GameCube, but the N64 was a fun console back in the day. Ah... I still remember when it was the "cool" thing to have. Tongue
