I wanted to make this as a question for the Trivia, but since it oculd have a large spectrum here it is in cae anyone wants to discuss it:

I was watching some season 18 episodes lately (and i've still got to catch up season 17 too), but i'm always noticing a common thread in episodes where Lisa has a major part in the plot:

Sooner or later she always ends up crying, even more than a time per episode. Now, frankly, i don't know if this is true or just my imagination, but as far as i can remember, in *every* episode she was in, she always had a scene were she cried, sobbed, or ran sobbing to her room. If you remember an episode where this isn't the case, pelase tell me cause i'm dying to know

As for the topic, what do you think of this occurrence of Lisa crying so often? Is it justified or is it pushed by the writers so they can get an easy emotional push to a lousy plot (well yeah, in some of the latest episode i was led to think this)?

Personally, i think that the writers are overdoing it lately (as in last 10 seasons? ), making her cry for things imho she would not, or ocming up with evil things or words JUST to make her sad, and that bothers me quite a bit... your ideas?

I think you have a point here, Marco... now that I think about it, I believe they do give her a lot of scenes where something upsets her to the point of tears. Sometimes this is justifiable, it's for a good reason, but other times I believe it is like you said; the writers just wanted to add some emotion to an otherwise dry or stupid plot.

I haven't seen a lot of the recent episodes so I'm not sure if they're "exploiting" her character in them, but I wouldn't put it past the current writers. In the past episodes, I think that in contrast with the opinion that she's a crybaby, it could also be argued that she's just a child, and can be expected to cry about certain things she feels strongly about... which is, in Lisa's case, a lot of things

In this situation I can only say, let her cry, for she's a lady

Nah, I don't think the show creators have made Lisa the crybaby. Together with the moments when she cries, there are many moments when she's cheerful, or acting quite mature. So, I think it's either a coincidence, or someone's hidden desire to see Lisa needing some help, which I can understand very well too.

I think this is one of the few scenes were Homer is outrageously mean to his daughter: not even his stupidity can be an excuse for the way he acted back then... i truly hated him :\ And yeah, Lisa's tears were more than justified...
