here's a little dit I wrote a loooong time ago, a link to which was requested in this thread after someone drew a picture of it. Cheers also to dagdamor for finding me a copy of it, mine having disappeared on a dead laptop quite a while ago.

Horror and lisa-centric (so those with a nervous disposition towards Lisa in peril may want to just surf on by) somewhere between a novella and short story in length. I sharn't spoil the plot - more fun to happen across it on your own Wink Enjoy!

Hello, D.B..
Well, generally, I have to say I should write a response since the moment your thread dedicated to Gently was created. But because of some unknown reason for me I did not do it. And I'm very sorry about that. Tryin' to rectify the situation.

First of all, I would like to say I always admired the skill of any people to undertake and carry out more-less scale projects. Even it devoted to such trifling (as probably most of usual people thinks) occasion as
fanfiction, esp Lisa-fanfiction. And I say frankly I think your story merits the definition "large scale project" (though the absolute majority of the fanfics not at all too voluminous). 'Cause to create something always not easy.

Well, when I read your story I've experienced the whole range of feelings. It was both a constant emotional stress and expectation of that there will be something irreparable, and doubt in reality of events occuring with Lisa (that it not her bad dream). And, certainly, the fear.
About fear I would like to tell especially.

The story is similar to the real horror film, but this is not just an action with no reference to character and personality of the main heroine. It contains much more of the standard facilities of expression. Here is opens the character of Lisa herself. We have an opportunity to think together with her, to feel the horror and to have the courage to undertake the resolute actions. And it was very much pleasant to me in a story. Looks more similar to a psychological thriller.

I think the main enemy of Lisa was her own mind. Though I certainly realize in what heavy condition she find oneself - frozen, almost got fainting-fit because of the weariness, exhausted by pain from cuts and undergo such  psychological stress. But it seems to me a huge plenty of ideas had its negative role too. It simply didn't give her the boldness to start to act at necessary point. Contrary to each idea she found opposite one, far from being always objectively, though very reasonable explained.

I really admired how you have shown Lisa's all fears and her uncertainty. All has turned out very plausibly, not forced, here and there enough roughly. Other members of the family have turned out well too, although much less attention was paid to them.

At one moment I felt my heart is about to become torn. It was when Homer was seen Lisa sitting on her bed almost safe and sound after a stage where the creature drags Lisa under a bed. I really thought that there was happened something irremediable... The moment when Lisa was dragged away and was on the verge of doom I was simply calm. But with a terrible feeling inside...
Very pleased that fortunately everything turned out all right and you have rescued her Wink.

The story is admirable, simply admirable. And, by the way, at present it is my most favourite horror fic with Simpsons. Hope you'll continue to please all of us with the new creations. Regardless of the fact that such moment maybe will come up not so soon.
Marvelous story, very impressive and heartbreaking. And gently Smile.

I read this before at Simpworks and I think it is a masterpeice. There is no other word in the English language that could come even close to discribing that fic. The imagery was stunning and the characterizations were spot on. The story is a little odd but that does not detract from it.

Yep you're right... not the wisest of choices at all... lol. Very odd story, but at the same time I enjoyed it a lot. Yggdrasill's comment pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

I don't know if you will read this now, but I just wanted to say what a great story this is. It's definitely not the run of the mill Simpsons fanfic, not just due to its subject but also due to its quality. Although it was personal to the Simpsons and it worked in that way, it would still be a good little thriller if you removed the Simpsons element, and it would make a good story for the screen. Reminded me a bit of a Twilight Zone ep. A couple of things that I would have liked to see were more of an explaination for what the thing was, why blood made it crazy to the point that it would chew glass instead of just licking the blood off, and a bit more time spent on what happens at the end. Overall an absorbing, creepy story, really good.

Agreed, my favorite Simpsons stories are the ones that doesn't just follow the show canons but introduce something original and fresh instead. I mean, fanfiction shouldn't just be a repetition of episodes' style, we already have much of those Smile From this POV, Gently is a great story, picturing Lisa in a completely unusual situation, showing something hard to believe, but you have to, because Lisa's actions and thoughts are shown very lively and vivid.

When I read it the first time I was sure that it was just Lisa's dream, I was expecting that she'll wake up and forget about that monster. But that didn't happen... next time I was re-reading the story, I had different impression about it. I still don't quite like the "darkness" of it, but it's much more "alive" and interesting for me now.

BTW, does everybody know that there is a good illustration to this story around?

That link appears to be dead.

I enjoyed the story in any case. The only critique I can think of is parts of the sentance/paragraph construction. Otherwise, very well executed!

A dreamlike story and very interesting at all, it represents her worries fears. I just thought of me being scared of some "monsters" in my room in my younger days. Big Grin It's a totaly weird story, that force you to read further and to the end.
This story is "unconscious" too, I hope you will understand what I'm trying to say, in case of the totally lost of control, partly over her life, and the continual imminence. But this qualities makes it so readable for me - an outstandig tale.

Sorry for double-post, but I wanted you to be pointed to this post.
Today they showed "The Girl Who Slept Too Little" and I have to think about this story.
I made some pictures with my mobile-phone-camera - crappy thing: http://s9.directupload.net/file/d/1604/rpsrpbpa_jpg.htm and this one http://s9b.directupload.net/file/d/1604/q3uyklyk_jpg.htm
and that was the scene befor http://s9b.directupload.net/file/d/1604/zwgfkuhe_jpg.htm. I thought that someone could draw this pictures in a better quality and with better "sensation", because they match perfectly into the story.

Another interesting thing in those episode is the script on this gravestone http://springfield-shopper.de/Pictures/Screenshots/gabf16/gabf16_120.jpg - I can't remember exatly but on the other side is something like "lovely aunt - so so mummy" that make me thing about "Lisa Fitzgerald".
