I would suggest that "talking to someone" should mean talking to someone who is suitably qualified to offer help, rather than this forum.
Hence my prior statements, people telling them "You need to get help man. Talk to a doctor or something, but you're one sick fuck." And they start to believe it, even if they aren't.

GeorgeHarrison"Talk to a doctor or something, but you're one sick fuck."You're right here, things seems to go into a simple way - wrong or right. It seems there's some people "right" here. Not contradict that. But as much as I look at them I'm thinking of a... hypertrophied feeling of sanity. And that can do own deal with bothering you a little. Well, maybe to talk of such thing was uncorrect thing, you've ever did in your life, LisaSimpsonLover, at least publically... but the "extreme rightness" reminds me of the something same in much other aspects of life. Again I say, I don' think you're totally wrong here with your feelings. But I'm certain you're not obliged to cure your appetence. With a time it simply goes away. And you'll still love Lisa with a pure love without any dirtness. She deserves such relation.

GH, believe it or not, I did not intend that as a cheap shot. And I didn't call anyone a sick fuck.

The reason I have posted in this thread is precisely because it bothers me and I am not prepared to ignore it and pretend that everything is OK.
TBH, I quite agree with you on that statement. I would actually have locked it the moment the first post was split off, and simply left it there. But thats me. I could easily of imagined what it would've eventually have led to. Again, IMHO. -ALM

LISA: Guys, can you please stop using the "f" word? Dunno what else to say here janglewolfUnder a "suitably qualified" person you mean a psychologist, right? Well, I don't believe that any kind of psychologist would understand LSL better than the members of this forum.

This is true. Some members of our forum understand what it's like to be in a situation such as LSL's, whereas someone "professionally trained" would perhaps view it as some kind of disorder, or mental illness, the fact that someone could love a cartoon character. But I loved Lisa for nine months, and am perfectly sane. Edit: ALMThat he's a nut? So you think that people who feel this way about Lisa are crazy?

ALM He's not a nut, damnit. If you read this thread carefully, you'll see that several members if not share his views, but at least understand him. On your forum, you say? Well I believe that any person that doesn't share the common opinion, the opinion of the crowd, would've banned on your forum, but that's not something you should be proud of.

I was kidding! Geez, take a chill pill. Why do you think the wink smilie was there? To INDICATE the joke. Perhaps you should at least learn what being on a forum is REALLY like, and not be taken so seriously. On your forum, you say? Well I believe that any person that doesn't share the common opinion, the opinion of the crowd, would've banned on your forum, but that's not something you should be proud of. That isnt what it's like there. If things get really out of hand like threats to kill people, comments that are so stupid that things get really annoying, and constant breaking of the rules, then bannings are issued. Not for agreeing with the majority. I was merely saying what I WOULD'VE done. Geez.

ALM Well, I apologize for misunderstanding... but in a thread where such a heated discussion is taking place, jokes aren't just flying around and easy to spot (even with smilies).

I wish i could find the words to try and soothe the negative feelings brought about by this topic, but it's up to all of you to have the good sense of moral to keep these things where they belong and give them the weight they deserve. Janglewolf for one, i can understand perfectly your uneasiness about the topic, but that doesn't give you the right to flame such heavily someone you don't even know. and to LSL, i would have liked more if he didnt burst in the forum with a question liek that out of the blue... it really doesn't give a good idea of the poster, makes you look like a lurker... (well... you kinda were so far, by your own admission). Be in the forum, if you really like Lisa and the Simpsons, partecipate, show it, you'll see that people will have a more rational approach to discussion with you. I see that you'd like anonimity, but come on, a little knowing each other's a bit more on the forum is not a threat to you. So please, don't leave the forum because of some harsh (thought you should have expected them) replies. If you're interested, do stay and give all of us a way to demonstrate this is a mature and friendly place. Mistakes have been made and too long steps have been taken, but it's all comprehensible. What i wouldn't like is people to avoid completely this thread because of fear despite they would still have something to say. Fear is never good.

Unless we've completely lost sight of what Lisa is, we're talking about an imaginary character whose intellect and personality, to avoid any beating around the bush, reflects those of 20 to 50 year old television writers and producers. Yes, she's cast and drawn as an eight year old, but those who develop romantic feelings for her aren't developing feelings for her as a child. Heh, actually discussion about 8-years old with minds of 25-years old kinda scared me and in such generalized version it's really bothering, but the lines I quoted explained things a little. From this point of view Lisa reminded me another fiction girl, and by strange coincindence, this girl was already mentioned on this forum in "Lisa's haircut and outfit" - Kirsten Dunst's heroine in “Interview with the Vampire” - vampire-girl Claudia, who was mentally grown-up, but doomed to live forever in child body. For fans Lisa probably the same - show close to 20 years old, but Lisa still a little girl, although she was born in 1984 by Simpsons chronology and could be young woman now. And sometimes in romantic relations writers give her more mature attitide, too. I mean, she could act stupid and childish with boys she like, but it's kinda normal for people who in love , so it's hard to see, when she is perfectly childish, and when she is not so. But still, when I'm personally talking about Lisa, I'm forgetting about "people who pulling the strings", Lisa is still a child for me and I can't imagine her in situation like that time when Laura Powers and Jimbo were going to make out - she is just not ready for all this and not needs it. However, LSL posts make me think that he can understand that although physical age is not so objective, to recognize person's real mental age you must be very, very patient, unbiassed and spend a lot of time together. So, I don't think LSL would hurt someone really, Lisa seems to be for him unique object of passion, not a pattern for future relations.

I want to speak a pair of words about an intellectual maturity of children. It's possible to consider my example as very specialised, but another doesn't occur to me right now. Being a fan of King Diamond I can tall about the process of recording him album "Abigail II: The Revenge". He was capable to imitate female and even child voices with his own in the past on the first albums, but now his voice turns really bad, to my point of view (well, he's feety one now, what to say). So he used a session singer, but not usual one. That was six-years old girl, who has performed some vocal parts. And as King mentions she has turned it out in the perfect way, as if she was a professional actress she could sound her character from the first double, having shown no visible efforts to do that! Especially impresses in the song "Sorry Dear" where the tonality of her voice varies amazingly from miserable crying right up to poisonous and derisive "I do like the Dark Clouds!" So it is possible to say that at times children show a surprising insight and understanding of a subject. Maybe because of their improbable cleanliness and spontaneity...

YggdrasillI've listened to this "song" today What can I say - that's something really interesting, "I do like the Dark Clouds" sounded weird and impressive from 6-years-old after that crying and King Diamond's sentence. Sometimes kids show incredible intellectual and creative abilities, indeed. But intellectual maturity and emotional maturity aren't the same thing Anyway, your example is very interesting!
