STAAR POWAAH!

« on: June 11, 2007, 16:46 »

It's occurred to me over here in the UK how much Simpson stuff I come across on a daily basis out in public...
Such as today for example, there happens to be a "Simpson Van" parked in the center of my home  town.  These Sky vans are kinda common here but I am not sure about over countries...
So I took a pic of the side showing Lisa and Bart Tongue

I've also added a pic I took on my phone back in December out in London (Camden Market)
of something that caught my eye. An unusual framed bit of Lisa "fan art"...well...just Lisa draw in comic book/ graphic novel style...kinda weird and I guess you'll understand once you see it...

So...anyone eles got other pics to share? Smile

Wow! Thanks for posting photos, so nice. Especially that comics-style crying Lisa, beautiful and touching.
People in USA and England so lucky Smile I'm very jealous.

Actually, there is possible to see and get something Simpsonic here, in Moscow, but find something really beautiful is very hard: things with Simpsons, which I see everyday are ugly and made in China, or well-done, but with pictures of Homer and Bart. Nothing deserving some attention.

Bart, Homer and Bender seem to be more widely popular here (football supporters using their images on banners, people wear T-shirts with them, they've been used in advertising and so on), so I've never seen neither good Lisa stuff here, nor Lisa devoted street art. Maybe I'm just not very good seeker, but unfortunately I have nothing to show here, sorry Sad

Nice photos Smile especially the second one, so true... Wink
I agree with Bra, it's hard (read: almost impossible) to see something decent with Lisa in this country. Homer and Bender, maybe also Bart - sure, but Lisa? Come on, she's weird and says strange things, and nobody likes her, why using her image in public places? *is sarcastic*

But I hope others will post something Smile

No worries, I understand what you both mean,
One of the main reason I took that pic of Lisa was it was very rare...indeed, Homer and Bart are the most popular characters here. I'ld say Bender too but when thinking about it,...finding Bender stuff in the UK is actually not so easy  Confused

Most things you find are usually related to those characters only, however in recent years things have improved and it's now possible to find Marge or Lisa merchandise/stuff Tongue Though I would still say the majority of stuff is Homer/Bart

Most other Simpson things I found in Camden were dodgey...Such as "Simpson posters" that were just crude drawings resembling Homer or Bart smoking something ... or something eles that was plain dodgey and not exactly official or tasteful.....which was why I was glad to come across something different Tongue

Hehe! I used to see one of those Sky One vans quite regularly, not the same one because it was a Transit van. Shame though because it was also smothered in stupid 'Lost' advertisements too. But on the side, had a very large picture of Lisa, I'm sure Bart was on the other side too. Tongue

Havent seen it in a while now.

Those pics are nice! Maybe some of the American members could post some stuff too? I'm sure they'll come across Simpsons stuff plenty of times. Lisa

The Simpsons isn't really a popular show here, so I rarely (read: never) see anything Simpsons related here...

I rather like that sky van!   I've seen the "Crying Lisa" pic before, it's supposed to be  a parody of a piece by Roy Lichtenstein (one of the "pop-art" movement).
Seeing as I don't live in a city there isn't much in the way of Lisa imagery around (I suppose I could start making Lisa crop-circles...hmmm...) though I have seen an ice-cream van in a nearby town with Lisa and Bart painted on it.   They were pretty well done IIRC.

The second one is touching... I'd really buy it sometime...if only have enough funds! Big Grin (or draw it on my own) On the first photo I think Bart deserves more successful fate than being obstructed by the rack. Smile
To the point I have nothing as you could guess. Nevertheless theres a street photo of Homer and Bart graffity somewhere on my hdd I did last year. Just ugly attempt to declare someone's love to that personages Big Grin

Nice pictures! I like them both a lot Smile

Unfortunately, I have not seen any public Simpsons-related things, like that van... actually it's pretty surprising Eek But I'm sure that if I did, living in the crude nation that I do, it would be Homer or Bart. Lisa is usually not as liked as they are in most countries, except in Japan. Actually, in Japan, they focused marketing attention on Lisa; her sense of morals and drive to be a force of good in her family appealed to them.

ooh, Black_raven such a great idea. Love that car with Bart and Lisa. Could see myself drive it lol. What I noticed where I live, that is connected to the simpsons, (besides tv, Tongue ) is icecream with their pictures. But I cant eat that kind, because Im a vegan. They should come up with a soy version, shaped like Lisa,  Lisa because it would really suit her, I think.

Still, it was fun to see those yellow faces. Smile

I saw a van (it looks more like a Scion) in Portland when I was out and about a few weeks ago.
It's a promotional car for a TV station, and it's got a giant Bart skateboarding on both sides with the Simpsons logo, but it's so not uncommon to see Simpson-type things everywhere here. ^^
...sorry I never had my camera with me though. ^^;
