I have a great song I wanna share with you guys. I've been listening to it a lot these past few days... It's great! Smile

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibvXgom-MvU

Three Doors Down - Let Me Go

One more kiss could be the best thing
Or one more lie could be the worst
And all these thoughts are never resting
And you're not something I deserve

In my head there's only you now
This world falls on me
In this world there's real and make believe
And this seems real to me

CHORUS
And you love me but you don't know who I am
I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go, let me go

I dream ahead to what I hope for
And I turn my back on lovin' me
How can this love be a good thing
And I know what I'm going through

In my head there's only you now
This world falls on me
In this world there's real and make believe
And this seems real to me

CHORUS
And you love me but you don't know who I am
I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go, just let me go, let me go

BRIDGE
And no matter how hard I try
I can't escape these things inside
I know, I know
But all the pieces fall apart
You will be the only one who knows, who knows

CHORUS
You love me but you don't know who I am
I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go, just let me go

(you don't know)
You love me but you don't
You love me but you don't
(you don't know)
You love me but you don't know who I am

(you don't know)
You love me but you don't
You love me but you don't
(you don't know)
You love me but you don't know me

In the moonlight
Your face it glows
Like a thousand diamonds
I suppose
And your hair flows like
The ocean breeze

I posted this song once about a year ago, but I feel like it needs to be posted again. It's somewhere in between a personal confession and an awesome song for me. It's obviously talking about a communications breakdown between two people, and really people in general, which I know the feeling of all too well. Each one of us experiences this every day, even though our encounters may vary in severity. And you don't have to look much further than this thread to find an example of lack of communication.

"Keep Talking" - Pink Floyd
[Stephen Hawking]:
"For millions of years... mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened, which unleashed the power of our imagination. We learned to talk."

There's a silence surrounding me
I can't seem to think straight
I'll sit in the corner
And no one will bother me...

I think I should speak now
(Why won't you talk to me?!)
But I can't seem to speak now
(You never talk to me!)
My words won't come out right
(What are you thinking?!)
I feel like I'm drowning...
(What are you feeling?!)

I'm feeling weak now
(Why won't you talk me?!)
But I can't show my weakness
(You never talk me!)
I sometimes wonder...
(What are you thinking?!)
Where do we go from here?...
(What are you feeling?!)

[Stephen Hawking]:
"It doesn't have to be like this... all we need to do is make sure... we keep... talking."

(Why won't you talk to me?!)
I feel like I'm drowning...
(You never talk to me!)
You know I can't breathe now
(What are you thinking?!)
We're going nowhere...
(What are you feeling?!)
We're going nowhere...

(Why won't you talk to me?!)
(You never talk to me!)
(What are you feeling?!)
(Where do we go from here?!)

[Stephen Hawking:]
"It doesn't have to be like this... all we need to do... is make sure... we keep... talking."

Stephen Hawking and Pink Floyd? I dont think i ever heard this song before (and youtube is blocked Sad ).

Oh well... here's one of my favourite Opeth songs, from probably my favourite Opeth album (Still Life, 1999). I think i already posted a song from the same album (The Moor) previously on this thread. I dont have a link to the video, but i think you can find it on YT.

The song is called "Face of Melinda". It is a very nice song but most of all i love the lyrics of this one, the atmosphere that voice and instrumentation creates, they have a scent of romantic, classic and antique to it. Since the album is a Concept album, i'll explain a bit of the story: Basically, the mai ncharacter (the one who sings) is an outcast, sent away from his native town when young because he was believed to be an heretic and an emissary of the devil (probably because of his looks or some deformity he got since birth). He comes back after years of exhile, pushed by the love for Melinda, a young woman who promised hi meternal love before he got cast out.

This song takes place after he returns to the village: feeling the scorn and hate of others, he manages to hide and talk in private to Melinda and take her away from her home into the forest. But there, we're revealed that Melinda has gone on with her life. There are two interpretations of the song, she either got married with another man or she became a nun.
What happens after is quite tragic, but that's another song. I might do a review of this album later   Tongue

Opeth - Face of Melinda
By the turnstile beckons a damsel fair
The face of Melinda neath blackened hair
No joy would flicker in her eyes
Brooding sadness came to a rise

Words would falter to atone
Failure had passed the stepping stone
She had sworn her vows to another
This is when no-one will bother

And conceded pain in crumbling mirth
A harlot of God upon the earth
Found where she sacrificed her ways
That hollow love in her face

Still I plotted to have her back
The contentment that would fill the crack
My soul released a fluttering sigh
This day fell, the darkness nigh

I took her by the hand to say
All faith forever has been washed away
I returned for you in great dismay
Come with me, far away to stay

Endlessly gazing in nocturnal prime
She spoke of her vices and broke the rhyme
But baffled herself with the final line
"My promise is made but my heart is thine".

Did he open up his eyes?
Did he try to touch my hand,
Or is my mind playing tricks on me?
Do you think he hears us cry?
Does he understand
We are here, by his side...

Hm, never heard it before? Well keep trying that link, it's really a one of a kind song... the talk box part towards the end sends chills up my spine every time.

As for your song... hm, concept album eh? Tongue My favorite. It does sound like an interesting story, and I'm listening to the song right now, it's got a great feeling to it. Starting with an almost jazzy kind of tune... and then working its way into a more hard rock approach. Not what I expected, but very good. For each a road
For everyman a religion
Find everybody and rule
For everything and rumble
Forget everything and remember
For everything a reason
Forgive everybody and remember

For each a road

G.H.

That pink floyd track is an awesome track........... many people in the UK know of the phrase that Stephen Hawkins speaks in this track.

The bit Hawkins speaks is from part of a speech made as a British Telecom TV Advert. The advert itself is inspirational and kind of moving. The music they used in the background is also haunting in a way. I remember at the time it touched a few people.

BT Advert > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be9GLngXyw0

Apparantly the advert moved Gilmour to tears, so he asked BT if he could sample it and add it to the rest of the lyrics which were already written. to make this track..... don't know how true that is but would be nice to think that this speech moved him ad it has others!

Simpreal Marco... i like that track, love the calmness of the start and the gentle guitar, and then... BAM it goes nuts..... fantastic stuff Smile Like the lyrics too!

I read that in a book I have, about Gilmour's reaction that is... he said it was one of the most moving television adverts he had ever seen, almost moved him to tears and it inspired him to write "Keep Talking".

As for these next two songs, they're both from a YouTube musician, and without any exaggeration, probably one of the most talented guitarists/songwriters on there. He writes some great music, and covers a lot of Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd guitar solos. His channel is http://www.youtube.com/user/markmusicman.

These two songs are ones he's written and posted here to YouTube - the music is great for both and the lyrics, while cliché, carry a very personal meaning for me (Roger knows what I'm talking about). Here you go, and I strongly encourage you to take the time to listen.

"I Really Love You" - Mark Rounds
I'm all alone, waitin' by the phone
Lonely every night, I miss you by my side
I feel I've lost my way, I need you today...

You know we are more than friends
Will I ever see you again?
When will the pain go away?
The tears keep falling like rain, do you feel the same?
I really love you... I really love you...
Want you to know I really love you...

You are the only love I know
Never wanna let you go...

Are you all alone?
Waitin' by your phone?
I wanna make it right, I miss you in my life
If I could bring back yesterday, I'd want you to stay...

I thought that our love could never end
Hope you still need me as a friend
No one but you can ease the pain
I keep hearing your name, do you feel the same?
I really love you...
I really love you...

Want you to know, I really love you
I can't live my life without you,
And I'll never let you go...

"So Long For Now" - Mark Rounds
If I could bring back yesterday
You know I'm sad to see you gone away
If I could turn back time to yesterday
But the hands of fate have taken you away...

So long, for now
It's hard to say goodbye
I can hear your teardrops fallin',
I can feel you mournin'...

So long, goodbye, I'm sad to see you go
You never found your way,
You're like a wild, wild horse that lost her way...

If I could see you now today
Would you be different now, or would you be the same?
If I could turn back time to yesterday
But the hands of fate have taken you away...

So long, for now
It's hard to say goodbye
I can hear your teardrops fallin',
I can feel you mournin'...

So long, goodbye, I'm sad to see you go
You never found your way,
You're like a wild, wild horse that lost her way...

Very beautiful lyrics, though I can't help but notice he uses the phrase 'If I could bring back yesterday' in both songs. Seems to be a running theme for this interwebs musician. Tongue

Indeed.

I know Gustavo/CCD! posted 'em earlier but Radiohead's song 'Creep' speaks volumes for where I see myself in this world. More specifically, the acoustic cover done by Muse *glances at Black_Raven* has been my anthem for about 6 months. At least until I uncovered Soundgarden's 'Black Hole Sun'.

I wish i was your lover by Enrique Iglesias

You know I got this feeling that I just can’t hide
I try to tell you how I feel
I try to tell you but I’m weak
Words don’t come easily
When you get close I shiver

I watch you when you smile
I watch you when you cry
And I still don’t understand
I can’t find the way to tell you

I wish I was your lover
I wish that you were mine
Baby I got this feeling
That I just can’t hide

Don’t try to run away
There’s many things I wanna say
No matter how it ends
Just hold me when I tell you

I wish I was your lover
I wish that you were mine
Baby I got this feeling
That I just can’t hide

I wish I was your lover
I wish that you were mine
Baby I got this feeling
That I just can’t hide

ALL I need is a miracle
Oh baby all I need is you
All I need is a love you give
Oh baby all I need is you
Baby you

I wish I was your lover
I wish that you were mine
Baby I got this feeling
That I just can’t hide

I wish I was your lover ( I wish I was your lover)
I wish that you were mine
Baby I got this feeling
That I just can’t hide

I wish I was your lover
I wish that you were mine
Baby I got this feeling
That I just can’t hide

Just wanna be your lover
Just wanna be the one
Let me be the lover
Let me be the one
Yeah Yeah

"november rain"... (attention in the guitar solo in the end)so beautiful

November Rain
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqAw0rqhFbM&feature=related
Guns N' Roses

When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same

'Cause nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain

We've been through this such a long long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain

But lovers always come and lovers always go
An no one's really sure who's lettin' go today
Walking away

If we could take the time
to lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowin' that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me
then darlin' don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walkin'
In the cold November rain

Do you need some time...on your own
Do you need some time...all alone
Everybody needs some time...
on their own
Don't you know you need some time...all alone

I know it's hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn't time be out to charm you

Sometimes I need some time...on my
own
Sometimes I need some time...all alone
Everybody needs some time...
on their own
Don't you know you need some time...all alone

And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain
I know that you can love me
When there's no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
'Cause nothin' lasts forever
Even cold November rain

Don't ya think that you need somebody
Don't ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one

ouch.... with sincerity me no like this type of music with a high level of pop in the style  Gigi... anyway Bon Jovi is a good guy and this song is very funny Smile ....half rock... half pop... x_X ....

It's My Life
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g50vzZzAja0
Bon Jovi

This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud

Chorus:
It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just wanna live while I'm alive
It's my life

This is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow's getting harder make no mistake
Luck ain't even lucky
Got to make your own breaks

Chorus:
It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life

Better stand tall when they're calling you out
Don't bend, don't break, hell, don't back down

Chorus:
It's my life
And it's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive

Chorus:
It's my life
And it's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life

More Pink Floyd lyrics from me... like Keep Talking, this is an awesome song, but also one I feel like I can very much understand on a personal level. It's a 17 minute-long epic, one of the Floyd's longest tracks, and talks about cutthroat businessmen and people who hurt others out of malice and a drive for personal gain. The song is a perfect example of what progressive rock is all about, and the guitar work is some of Gilmour's absolute best.

"Dogs" - Pink Floyd

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiRw_Jnhs0A&feature=related
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eErVYeuloYY&feature=related

[Gilmour singing]:
You got to be crazy
You gotta have a real need
Gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,
You got to be able to pick out the easy meat
With your eyes closed...

And then moving in silently, downwind and out of sight
You've got to strike when the moment is right, without thinking...

And after a while
You can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile
You have to be trusted
By the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in...

You gotta keep one eye
Lookin' over your shoulder
You know it's gonna get harder, and harder, and harder
As you get older...
And in the end you'll pack up, fly down south,
Hide your head in the sand
Just another sad old man
All alone, and dyin' of cancer...

And when you lose control
You'll reap the harvest you have sown
And as the fear grows
The bad blood slows and turns to stone...
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down,
All alone...
Dragged down by the stone...

[The word "stone" is repeated over and over, and as it is repeated, it slowly fades into a primal, dog-like howl.]

[Waters singing]:
Gotta admit
That I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me
As if I'm just being used

Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off
This creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground
How can I find my way out of this maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind
You just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable
And no one has a real friend
And it seems to you the thing to do
Would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer...

Who was born in a house... full of pain
Who was trained not to spit... in the fan
Who was told what to do... by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar... and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away... from the pack (Breaking away...)
Who was only a stranger at home (Only a stranger...)
Who was ground down... in the end (Ground down...)
Who was found dead... on the phone (Found dead...)
Who was dragged down by the stone...
Who was dragged down by the stone!

Manfred Mann a men with a big heart and with a passion in the jazz.. in a the old England a lot of time ago... but his distiny is with the progressive rock and this song is a example... I know, this is other old song but "Visionary mountains" is a wonderful song and a classic example of the "real" rock and the guitars with a soul... steel and blood!

Visionary Mountain
http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=y3w0kthf2cw&feature=related
Manfred Mann

Visionary mountains
Above and afar
Like answers to questions
Of life, Love
Love and the longing to survive

Truth though distorted
Are words I create
Today the parting
Tonight, tonight
At the peak of your
Visionary mountains

Visionary mountains
Above and afar
Like answers to questions
Of life, Love

Visionary mountains

Visionary mountains
Above and afar
Like answers to questions
Of life, Love
Love and the longing to survive
Love and the longing to survive
