I like this one, especially considering how little we see of the sun over here.

The Beatles - Here Comes The Sun

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right

Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right
It's all right

Absolutely amazing song by Bob Dylan, just... wow... I don't have the words to describe it. It's just great, let's leave it at that.

Bob Dylan - "Like a Rolling Stone"
Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime... didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all... kiddin' you

You used to, laugh about
Everybody that was, hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging... for your next meal

How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To be without a home?
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone

You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get... juiced in it
Nobody's ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you're gonna have to get... used to it

You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And say, "Do you want to make a deal?"

How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To be on your own?
With no direction home?
A complete unknown
Like a rolling stone

Ah, you never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all did... tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your... kicks for you

You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything... he could steal

How does it feel?
How does it feel?
To be on your own?
With no direction home?
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone

Ah, princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're all drinkin', thinkin' that they... got it made
Exchanging all precious gifts
But you'd better take your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe

You used to be, so amused
At Napoleon in rags, and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal

How does it feel?
Ah, how does it feel?
To be on your own?
With no direction home?
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone

Here's an Italian song that i like very much... it's from an Italian singer, Roberto Vecchioni, that was also a professor for a long time. He wrote this song when he left his career, and it's a song intended for all his pupils, to all the people he teached to. It's an hymn to life and i think it's full of nice feelings and wishes.

On the youtube video you can read the italian lyrics, i'll post the translation (done by me so forgive any errors Big Grin ) here.

Dream, boy, dream - Roberto Vecchoni

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebZKq4_fVow

And they will tell you words
red as blood, black as night
But it isn't true, boy
that the reason is always with the strongest
I know poets
that move rivers with a thought
and infinite sailors
that know how to speak with the sky.

Close your eyes, boy
and trust only what you see inside
Clench your fists, boy
don't give up to them not even for a moment
Cover up the love, boy
but do not hide it beneath your mantle
Sometimes there's someone...
Sometiems, someone has to see.

Dream, boy, dream
When wind blows through heart's doors
When a man lives for his own words
Or he lives no more.
Dream, boy, dream
Don't leave him alone against this world
Don't let him go, dream till the end,
you do it too.

Dream, boy, dream
When wind falls but it doesn't end,
When a man dies for the same life
that you were dreaming too
Dream, boy, dream
Do not change a verse of your song
Do not leave your train still at the station
Don't you ever stop.

Let them say that in this world
those like you will always lose
Because you won already, i swear
they can't do anyting to you.
Touch a woman's face with your hand now an then
caress it with your fingers,
No reign is bigger
than this little thing that is your life.

And the life is so strong
that it goes through walls so she can be seen;
The life is so true
That it seems incredible to have to let it go;
The life is so big
That when you'll be on the verge of your death
You'll plant an olive tree,
still convinced to see it bloom.

Dream, boy, dream
When she turns around, when she doesn't come back
When the step that stopped your heart
you won't hear anymore.
Dream, boy, dream
Days will pass, Love will pass,
Nights will pass, pain will end
You'll be always you.

Dream, boy, dream
little boy in my memory
So many of you, so many times in this story
I have lost the count
Dream, boy, dream
I've left a sheet on your desk
There's still a verse missing from that poem,
You can finish it.

Yeah, the translation removes all the sense of rythm and rime for the song, but i still think you'll like it. I wish i had a professor like this too.. Smile I like to think that maybe Bergstrom could sing such a similar song to Lisa.

Weird, i think i remember that someone posted a song after mine... i feel bad in making two posts consecutively.  Unsure

Anyway, since Winter is finally fading away here and the first sunny rays are startign to warm up the earth and the hearts, i want to bid my farewell to this cold, introspective and, in its own way, very romantic season using Agalloch's music and words.

Agalloch - In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion

Part 1: http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=eQHQsxvW5b4
Part 2: http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=aP-_dbT-9Dg

Through vast valleys I wonder
To the highest peaks
On pathways through a wild forgotten landscape
In search of God, in spite of man
'til the lost forsaken endless. . .
This is where I choose to tread

Fall. . .so shall we fall into the nihil?
The nothingness that we feel in the arms of the pale
In the shadow of the grim companion who walks with us

Here is the landscape
Here is the sun
Here in the balance of the earth
Where is the god?
Has he fallen and abandoned us?

As I'm stalked by the shadow of death's hand
The fire in my heart is forged across the land

Here at the edge of this world
Here I gaze at a pantheon of oak, a citadel of stone
If this grand panorama before me is what you call God. . .
Then God is not dead

I walked down to a river and sat in reflection of what had to be done
An offering of crimson flowed into the water below
A wound of spirit from which it floated and faded away

. . .like every hope I've ever had. . .
. . .like every dream I've ever known. . .
It washed away in a tide of longing, a longing for a better world
From my will, my throat, to the river, and into the sea. . .
. . .wash away. . .
. . .fade away. . .

Here is the landscape
Here is the sun
Here at the edge of the earth
Where is the god?
Has he fallen to ruin?

As I'm stalked by the shadow of death's hand
My heathen pride is scarred across the land

Both songs are nice, especially about the transition of seasons - you're fortunate to live in an area where you actually notice the difference. Wink

-As for my song-
What is real. What is actually around you when you have your eyes closed and are living that perfect dream. The world. The cold, harsh reality.

Pink Floyd - "Yet Another Movie"
One sound, one single sound
One kiss, one single kiss
The face outside the window pane
However did... it come to this?

The man who ran, the child who will cry
The girl who will hurt, the voice that lied
The sun that burned a fiery red
The vision... of an empty bed

The use of force, he was so tough
She'll soon submit, she's had enough
The march of fate, the broken will
Someone is lying very still...

He has laughed, and he has cried
He has fought, and he has died
He's just the same as all the rest
He's not the worst... and he's not the best...

Still this ceaseless murmuring
The babbling that I brook
The seas of faces, eyes upraised
The empty screen... the vacant look...

A man in black, on a snow white horse
A pointless life has run its course
The red rimmed eyes, the tears still run
As he fades into the setting sun...

Here's another brilliant social commentary by Mr. Pink Floyd, aka Roger Waters. It was released as a single in 2004 along with "Leaving Beirut", and the lyrics reflect on the situation in the Middle East right now. The killing of the child in this song is a metaphor for the invasion of the Middle East.

Roger Waters - "To Kill The Child"
The child lay in the starlit night
Safe in the glow of his Donald Duck light
How strange to choose to end a life
How strange to choose to kill a child

Hoover, Blaupunkt, Nissan Jeep
Nike, Adidas, Lacoste and cheaper brands
Cadillac, Amtrak, gasoline, diesel
Our standard of living, could this be a reason?

(That we would choose to kill the child...
That we would choose to kill the child...
)

Allah, Jehovah, Buddah, Christ
Confucius and Kali and red beans and rice
Goujons of sole, ris de veau, ham hocks
Lox bagels and bones and commandments in stone
The Bible, Qur'an, Shinto, Islam
Prosciutto, risotto, falafel and ham
Is it dogma, donuts, ridicule faith
Fear of the dark, or shame or disgrace--?

(That we would choose to kill the child...
That we would choose to kill the child...
)

It's cold in the desert and the space is too big
The rope is too short and the walls are too thick
I will show you no weakness, I will mock you in song
Berate and deride you, belittle and chide you
Beat you with sticks and bulldoze your home
You can watch my triumphant procession to Rome
Best seat in the house, up there on the cross
Is it anger or envy, profit or loss?

(That we would choose to kill the child...
That we would choose to kill the child...
)

Take this child and hold him closely!
Keep him safe from the holy reign of terror!

(Take this child, hold him closely!)

Take this child to the moral high ground!
Where he can look down on the bigots and bully boys
Slugging it out in the yard--!

Well sorry for the double post, but I have two more songs to share with you all, perhaps before the forum closes. If it does indeed close, I'd like to leave you with these two songs. Both of them I heard for the first time yesterday, but that was enough to make me realize that they were keepers. One is instrumental, and so will be posted in the Instrumental Music thread.

Both songs are solo efforts by Rick Wright, the keyboardist for Pink Floyd.

Rick Wright - "Night of a Thousand Furry Toys"
Now you feel it, a shiver and you begin
Frozen breath that scrapes across the skin
And a sound you've never heard before... you screaming...

Welcome to the world of random noise
Where you simply haven't got a choice
When they push your levers and pull your strings

It's another world...
It's a better world that we bring

Here you are on the planet of hot and cold
Where you'll do as exactly as you're told...

(In a world of a thousand furry toys
You can hear the screams of little girls and boys
It's a charming noise
If you really want that kind of thing, mama...)

Now you feel it, a shiver and you've begun
When they pull those strings how you'll start to run
And there's no stepping off, or stepping down

It's another world and it's a better world,
That's what we have found...

The forum won't close, and don't worry about the posts. Even if i don't reply to each one, i listen to everyone that gets posted on here and it happens rarely that i don't like what is posted.

Music is a good substitute for dreams, so the more i have, the best it is. Smile

Wow, it's been a while since I posted something here... Well, here another cool song by... Oh, you don't need to know by who it is Big Grin You already know! Big Grin But, just in case, it's by Avenged Sevenfold.

Chapter Four - Avenged Sevenfold

Conceived and born was one of light;
(give me your hand, blood is spilt and men will follow)
Rain and dark, the other born black night...
(infernal man, punishment too great too bear)

Raise your head and taste the courage
(the one of light)
Fall from grace, unholy knight...
I've come here to kill you,
won't leave until you've died
Murder born of vengeance,
I closed my brothers eyes tonight...
Conceived and born was one of light;
(give me your hand, blood is spilt and men will follow)
Rain and dark, the other born black night...
(infernal man, punishment too great too bear)

Raise your head and taste the courage
(the one of light)
Fall from grace, unholy knight...
I've come here to kill you,
won't leave until you've died
Murder born of vengeance,
I closed my brothers eyes tonight...

It’s cold tonight as the clouds turn grey
and from my hands to my brother’s grave
You took his side, you took his gift,
feel the power of a fallen man,
crestfallen man...

Far away in this land I must go,
out of the site of the One.
A punishment sent from his hand,
a hardship that no one should know...
Now go out of the site of the One,
away in this land you must go.

Where has he gone? What have you done?
A voice commands from high above this earth.
From the soil his blood cries out to me:
”Murder, liar, vengeance, deceit!”
Far away in this land I must go,
out of the site of the One.
A punishment sent from his hand,
a hardship that no one should know...
Now go out of the site of the One,
away in this land you must go.

Another great song. I'll just leave you guys with it, because I can't say anything else. A great song by Three Doors Down Smile

Away From The Sun - Three Doors Down

It's down to this
I've got to make this life make sense
Can anyone do what I've done
I missed life
I missed the colours of the world
Can anyone go where I am
'Cause now again I've found myself
So far down, away from the sun
That shines into the darkest place
I'm so far down, away from the sun again
Away from the sun again

I'm over this
I'm tired of living in the dark
Can anyone see me down here
The feeling's gone
There's nothing left to lift me up
Back into the world I've known

'Cause now again I've found myself
So far down, away from the sun
That shines into the darkest place
I'm so far down, away from the sun
That shines the life away from me
To find my way back into the arms
That care about the ones like me
I'm so far down, away from the sun again

It's down to this
I've got to make this life make sense
And now I can't do what I've done
And now again I've found myself
So far down, away from the sun
That shines the life away from me
'Cause now again I've found myself
So far down, away from the sun
That shines into the darkest place
I'm so far down, away from the sun
That shines the life away from me
To find my way back into the arms
That care about the ones like me
I'm so far down, away from the sun again

Wow wow wow, I just heard this great song. I have no words to explain it... WHO HERE LIKES DREAM THEATER? Gigi

Dream Theater - Hollow Years

He's just the kind of man
You hear about
Who leaves his family for
An easy out
They never saw the signs
He never said a word
He couldn't take another day

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over your head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

She's not the kind of girl
You hear about
She'll never want another
She'll never be without
She'll give you all the signs
She'll tell you everything
Then turn around and walk away

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
(Into the waves)
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
(Once the stone)
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over your head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
(Into the waves)
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over your head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Once the stone
You're crawling under
(The sound you'll hear,)
Once the stone
(the crashing)
You're crawling under
(down of hollow years)
Once the stone
You're crawling under
Once the stone
You're crawling under
Once the stone
You're crawling under
(The sound you'll hear, the crashing down of hollow years)

Another great song. Sorry for my short posts in this thread, but I can't really say anything more than: It's a great song", because I can't explain how some songs mean to me. Some of them help me get through another day without feeling depressed. When I'm depressed, that is. Enough talk. Here it is Smile

Secondhand Serenade - Your Call

Waiting for your call, I'm sick, call I'm angry
call I'm desperate for your voice
I'm listening to the song we used to sing
In the car, do you remember
Butterfly, Early Summer
It's playing on repeat, Just like when we would meet(like when we would meet)

Cause I was born to tell you I love you
and I am torn to do what I have to, to make you mine
Stay with me tonight

Stripped and pollished, I am new, I am fresh
I am feeling so ambitious, you and me, flesh to flesh
Cause every breath that you will take while you are sitting next to me
will bring life into my deepest hopes, What's your fantasy?

(Chorus)

And I'm tired of being all alone, and this solitary moment makes
me want to come back home x4
( I know everything you wanted isn't anything you have)

(Chorus)

It's been a while...this thread has been rather dead...
I'm aware I may have posted this before but it deserves a 2nd posting,...and..well...okay I admit, this is influenced on my own emotions...the song doesn't fit perfectly lyrically wise, (though parts of it does..)...but it's mostly instrumentally wise,...the music sums up my emotions...they're pretty all over the place right now...

Muse - Escape:

You would say anything
And you would try anything
To escape your meaningless
And your insignificance
You're uncontrollable
And we are unlovable
And I don't want you to think that I care
I never would, I never could again

Why can't you just love her?
Why be such a monster?
You burn me from a distance
Your brain needs some assistance
But I'll still take all the blame
'Cause you and me are both one and the same
And its driving me mad
And its driving me mad

I'll take back all the things that I said
I didn't realize I was talking to the living dead
And I don't want you to think that I care
I never would, I never could again

You would say anything
And you would try anything
To escape your meaningless
And your insignificance

http://youtube.com/watch?v=sL_fabjW4mU

I'm not gonna make a habit of this "I post what lyrics I feel like" thing though so, to balance it out...I'm gonna post another set of lyrics from a new song I've heard recently...nothing that relates to myself right now as such, but since my friend showed me their myspace page and, well, I'm a sap for emotional stuff, it moved me x_X...the one that moved me the most was this song....

Secondhand Serenade-It's Not Over:

My tears run down like razorblades,
and no, I'm not the one to blame,
It's you... Or is it me?
And all the words we never say
come out, and now we're all ashamed,
And there's no sense in playing games
when you've done all you can do.

But now it's over. It's over...
Why is it over? We had the chance to make it
now it's over. It's over...
It can't be over. I wish that I could take it back.
But it's over...

I lose myself in all these fights.
I lose my sense of wrong and right.
I cry, I cry.
It's shaking from the pain that's in my head.
I just want to crawl into my bed
and throw away the life I've led.
But I won't let it it die.
But I won't let it die.

But it's over. It's over...
Why is it over? We had the chance to make it.
Now it's over. It's over...
It can't be over. I wish that I could take it back.
But now it's over...

I'm falling apart.
I'm falling apart.
Don't say this won't last forever.
You're breaking my heart.
You're breaking my heart.
Don't tell me that we will never be together.
We could be over. It's over.
We could be forever.

I'm falling apart.
I'm falling apart.
Don't say this won't last forever.
You're breaking my heart.
You're breaking my heart.
Don't tell me that we will never be together.
We could be over. It's over.
We could be forever.

It's not over.
It's not over.
It's never over.
Unless you let it take you.
It's not over.
It's not over.
It's not over.
It's not over.
Unless you let it break you.
It's not over.

(apologies to El Barto for posting his song AGAIN in my post just after his >_< but this song is also a good SS song Smile,...kinda does relate to me though...ahhH!...but ah well....)
