Here is one that I have been working on. It has taken a while, but I think it works.

Every day is a journal page
Every man holds a quill and ink
And there's plenty of room for writing in
All we do is believe and think
So will you compose a curse
Or will today bring the blessing
Fill the page with rhyming verse
Or some random sketching

Teach us to count the days
Teach us to make the days count
Lead us in better ways
That somehow our souls forgot
Life means so much
Life means so much
Life means so much

Every day is a bank account
And time is our currency
So nobody's rich, nobody's poor
We get 24 hours each
So how are you gonna spend
Will you invest, or squander
Try to get ahead
Or help someone who's under

Teach us to count the days
Teach us to make the days count
Lead us in better ways
That somehow our souls forgot
Life means so much
Life means so much
Life means so much

Has anybody ever lived who knew the value of a life
And don't you think giving is all
What proves the worth of yours and mine

Teach us to count the days
Teach us to make the days count
Lead us in better ways
That somehow our souls forgot
Life means so much

Every day is a gift you've been given
Make the most of the time every minute you're living

Here is one that I have been working on. It has taken a while, but I think it works.

You mean you wrote these lyrics? Wow, congratulations... at first i didn't notice your first line and was wondering if i already heard the song Smile
Honestly speaking, these verses do read like they were made for a song, the structure is exactly like them. It has rhymes, a proper metric, and a wonderful moral to it: very uplifting and very optimistic... what about strumming down a few chords on it?

*is overloading song lyrics with mellow songs*
don't mind me, I'm not depressed or anything, infact I'm pretty happy..and if I be honest, just sobered up Tongue
Just a pretty song, it is mildly depressing and even reflects partialy how I feel but reason I'm posting it is I don't think I have before and it deserves to be imo Tongue

Goo Goo Dolls - Iris:

And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
And you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

One of my favourite songs:

Simple Plan - Welcome To My Life

Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don’t belong
And no one understands you

Do you ever wanna run away?
Do you lock yourself in your room?
With the radio on turned up so loud
And no one hears you screaming

No you don’t know what it’s like
When nothing feels all right
You don’t know what it’s like to be like me

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you’re down
To feel like you’ve been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
When no one’s there to save you
No you don’t know what it’s like

Welcome to my life

Do you wanna be somebody else?
Are you sick of felling so left out?
Are you desperate to find something more
Before your life is over?

Are you stuck inside a world you hate?
Are you sick of everyone around?
With the big fake smiles and stupid lies
But deep inside you're bleeding

No you don’t know what it’s like
When nothing feels all right
You don’t know what it’s like to be like me

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you’re down
To feel like you’ve been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one’s there to save you
No you don’t know what it’s like

Welcome to my life

No one ever lies straight to your face
And no one ever stabbed you in the back
You might think I’m happy
But I’m not gonna be okay

Everybody always gave you what you wanted
You never had to work it was always there
You don’t know what it’s like
What it’s like

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you’re down
To feel like you’ve been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
When no one’s there to save you
No you don’t know what it’s like

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you’re down
To feel like you’ve been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
When no one’s there to save you
No you don’t know what it’s like

Welcome to my life
Welcome to my life
Welcome to my life

Well I'm sorry, but I have to come post here again. Tonight my head and heart are filled with dark feelings, bitterness, angst, regret, just think about every negative word you know and that's pretty much what I'm feeling right now. Dark, I guess, is just the best word to sum it up. I'm so fed up with trying to get people to listen to me, to see reason. I'm fed up with trying to make things work, when I am either the only one trying, or was doomed to failure before I even began trying. Sometimes it's my fault, sometimes the fault of the other, the point is, it's wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong... I don't quite know what this song is about, and neither does Phil Collins. He writes, "I don't know what this song is about. When I was writing this I was going through a divorce. And the only thing I can say about it is that it's obviously in anger. It's the angry side, or the bitter side of a separation."

"In The Air Tonight" -by Phil Collins
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord
And I've been waiting for this moment, for all my life, oh lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight? Oh lord... oh lord...

Well if you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before, my friend
But I don't know if you know who I am

Well, I was there and I saw what you did
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies...

And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord
Well I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh lord
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord
And I've been waiting for this moment all my life, oh lord... oh lord

Well I remember... I remember, don't worry
How could I ever forget, it's the first time... the last time, we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up... no you don't fool me...
The hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows
It's no stranger to you or me...!

And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord...
Well I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh lord
I can feel it in the air tonight, oh lord, oh lord
Well I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh lord... oh lord

I can feel it coming in the air tonight...! Oh lord...
And I've been waiting for this moment, for all my life! Oh lord!
I can feel it in the air tonight, oh lord! Oh lord, oh lord!
Well I've been waiting for this moment... for all my life! Oh lord, oh lord...

I can feel it in the air tonight, oh lord...

Dark feelings and angst, how can we avoid them?
I'm not feeling very well right now too, so my condolences George, I understand how you feel (or felt).
Good song...

Oh God... so EFFING SICK!!!

"Cold Turkey" -by John Lennon
Temperature's rising
Fever is high
Can't see no future
Can't see no sky

My feet are so heavy
So is my head
I wish I was a baby
I wish I was dead

Cold turkey has got me... on the run

My body is achin'
Goose-pimple bone
Can't see nobody
Leave me alone

My eyes are wide open
Can't get to sleep
One thing I'm sure of...
I'm in at the deep freeze

Cold turkey has got me... on the run

Cold turkey has got me... on the run

Thirty-six hours
Rollin' in pain
Praying to someone
Free me again

Oh I'll be a good boy
Please make me well
I promise you anything!
Get me out of this hell...

Cold turkey has got me... on the run

You can find pleasure in angst and dark feelings too. It's like learning to like black un-sugared coffee, or smoking (though i never liked smoking).
I'm sorry you feel this way though.. what can i say? The songs (especially the first) are very nice, your feelings, if honest, are a proof that you at least don't give up the fight!

This is a very special song for the moments of sorrow and solitude ... Comes from my country and is a sample of the most beautiful words that a man can listen .... Is an old song, but which remain in force forever ... Star

(English version)

THANKS TO LIFE (Violeta Parra, chilean)

Thank you, Life, for you gave me so much.
You gave me two stars for eyes and when I open them
I can perfectly distinguish black from white
And up above in the skies the constelations
And in the crowds the man I love.

Thank you, Life, for you gave me so much.
You gave me ears so that I can hear
And record the sounds day and night of
Crickets, canaries, factories, dogs barking,
The rain falling, and the sweet voice of my loved one.

Thank you, Life, for you gave me so much.
You gave me the sounds and the alphabet
And with them the words I think of and declare
Mother, friend, brother and light shining
Over the route of my loved one's soul.

Thank you, Life, for you gave me so much.
You gave my tired feet the strenght to walk
On them I have visited cities and potholes
Beaches and deserts, mountains and valleys
And your house, your street, your backyard.

Thank you, Life, for you gave me so much.
You gave me my heart that beats like a drum
When I see the fruits of the human brain
When I see good so far away from evil
When I look in the depth of your beautiful eyes.

Thank you, Life, for you gave me so much.
You gave me laughter and tears
So I can express happiness and sorrow
The two elements my songs are made of
And your songs, which are like my songs,
And everybody's songs, which are also mine.

Thank you Life.

Original version... (Spanish, to the latin members  Wink)

GRACIAS A LA VIDA (Violeta Parra , Chilena)

Graba noche y día grillos y canarios
Martillos, turbinas, ladridos, chubascos,
Y la voz tan tierna de mi bien amado.

Gracias a la vida, que me ha dado tanto,
Me ha dado el sonido y abecedario.
Con él las palabras que pienso y declaro,
"madre, amigo hermano" y luz alumbrando

Lately my life has been a go-nowhere, buckle-down, day-to-day, keep-working pile of steaming garbage. This far down the line all I can say is my hope for things is... well... very diminished. Nothing much else to say. I'm already tired of living. And I feel like I've just lost my ability to really love someone.

"This Train Don't Stop There Anymore" -by Elton John
You may not believe it
But I don't believe in miracles anymore
And when I think about it
I don't believe I ever did for sure

All the things I've said in songs
All the purple prose you bought from me
Reality's just black and white
The sentimental things I'd write
Never meant that much to me

I used to be the main express
All steam and whistles headin' west
Picking up my pain from door to door
Riding on the storyline
Furnace burning overtime...

But this train don't stop,
This train don't stop,
This train don't stop there anymore

You don't need to hear it
But I'm dried up and sick to death of love
And if you need to know it
I never really understood that stuff

All the stars and bleeding hearts
All the tears that welled up in my eyes
Never meant a thing to me
Read 'em as they say and weep
I've never felt enough to cry

I used to be the main express
All steam and whistles headin' west
Picking up my pain from door to door
Riding on the storyline
Furnace burning overtime...

But this train don't stop,
This train don't stop,
This train don't stop there anymore

When I said that I don't care
It really means my engine's breakin' down
The chisel chips my heart again
The granite cracks beneath my skin
I crumble into pieces on the ground...

I used to be the main express
All steam and whistles headin' west
Picking up my pain from door to door
Riding on the storyline
Furnace burning overtime...

But this train don't stop,
This train don't stop,
This train don't stop there anymore

But this train don't stop,
This train don't stop,
This train don't stop there anymore...

This is a one of my favourite songs of Coldplay...  Smile

Yellow - Coldplay

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah, they were all yellow.

I came along,
I wrote a song for you,
And all the things you do,

And it was called Yellow.

So then I took my turn,
Oh what a thing you've done,
And it was all Yellow.

Your skin
Oh yeah, your skin and bones,
Turn into something beautiful,
Do you know?
You know I love you so,
You know I love you so.

I swam across,
I jumped across for you,
Oh what a thing to do.
'Cos you were all yellow,

I drew a line,
I drew a line for you,
Oh what a thing to do,
And it was all yellow.

Your skin,
Oh yeah your skin and bones,
Turn into something beautiful,
Do you know?
For you I'd bleed myself dry,
For you I'd bleed myself dry.

It's true, look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for...
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine...

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And all the things that you do.

I like that song very much, it's my second favourite of Coldplay (after Speed of Sound).

GeorgeHarrison
Heh, what's to say. As always, deep, meaningful and sad song.
Try to cheer up a little. I think, diminished hope is a damn usual thing in this world. The lesson is - never hope. And about lost ability to love - I suppose it's immortal and you'll find it one day. Good luck.

Another of my extreme favourites. Some of the lyrics remind me of Lisa in a way..... "You love me but you don't know who I am

3 Doors Down - Let Me Go

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibvXgom-MvU

One more kiss could be the best thing
Or one more lie could be the worst
And all these thoughts are never resting
And your not something I deserve

In my head there's only you now
This world falls on me
In this world there's real and make believe
And this seems real to me
And you love me but you don't know who I am
I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go, let me go

I dream ahead to what I hope for
And I turn my back on loving you
How can this love be a good thing
And I know what I'm going through

In my head there's only you now
This world falls on me
In this world there's real and make believe
And this seems real to me
And you love me but you don't know who I am
I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go, just let me go....

Let me go

And no matter how hard I try
I can't escape these things inside
I know, I know
But all the pieces fall apart
You will be the only one who knows, who knows

You love me but you don't know who I am
I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go, just let me go

(you don't know)
You love me but you don't
You love me but you don't
(you don't know)
You love me but you don't know who I am

(you don't know)
You love me but you don't
You love me but you don't
(you don't know)
You love me but you don't know me

Not usually a fan of Timbaland, but I LOVE this track. Love the backing vocals, reminds me sort of of native indian sound. But thats just me.

I'm holding on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground
And I'm hearing what you say
But I just can't make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down
But wait...
You tell me that you're sorry
Didn't think I'd turn around and say...

That it's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late

I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
(But that's nothing new)
Yeah yeah

I loved you with a fire red, now it's turning blue
And you say
"Sorry" like the angel, heaven let me think was you
But I'm afraid...

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
Woahooo woah

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, yeahah
I said it's too late to apologize, yeahah

I'm holding on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground...
