I want to make a website to go with a story that me and ametur_poet are writing but I can't use FTP Client very well and mt HTML Skills are bad and the only website that I can find that doesn't support HTML is Piczo and I don't want to use a Freewebs Template, Do you think Piczo is the answer if it has a good layout?

Aha, an online website builder. It could be a nice idea, if your connection & traffic allow Smile
Why not? If you're planning to make some sort of an illustrated story, this can work for you well.

Freewebs is more complicated, but gives better results, if you're willing to try.

You could try this tutorial to improve your HTML skills: http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp
Or this one if you have the feeling the tutorial from w3schools is going too fast with everything: http://www.davesite.com/webstation/html/chapX1.shtml

WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editors always produce crappy results: big HTML files that load slow and don't display properly in every browser...

Maggiecute - Tell me which client you use, and I should be able to teach you how to use it. FTP is easy. Or even read your specific clients documentation.

Casper - KDL's right, any page builder, Freewebs, Pizo, 50 Megs, Geoshitties are all useless, you cant build any type of website on them hosts.

Suusje - It depends on the WYSIWYG editor you use, Dreamweaver isnt so bad. Provided you do at least know how to code a bit. Tongue

Actualy, your the mistaken ones.

Not all of us have all these super-duper programs, and not all of us study computer languages since, really, theres easier ways.

Free website builders are good, because they take the hastle away from HMTL scripting etc etc. If you want to get rid of advertisements and have a unique domain name, you pay.

KDL, Piczo is not crap. Nor is Freewebs. Its a good solid start to web building.

Some of us have more important things to do in our lives than sit and read strings of code. Such as have fun.

I built a website on a lot of these builders and they looked presentable, and I could upload my pictures easy enough with no web skill at all.

Nope. You're still mistaken, I've been doing this for years.

I've used Freewebs, 50 Megs and the lot of it, I've been there and done it. Dreamweaver isnt hard to get hold of as long as you dont have a problem with cracking it. Free website builders arent any good when effectivly you can get a program that has both a design and a code view for free.

All free hosts will forse advertisements as you said, 50 megs I know places one on top, one on the left and one on the right, Freewebs isnt so bad, but they forse a top banner which scrolls with the screen and is annoying.

They clog your code with pointless javascript because of those ads thus making the page load slower, probably even for faster connection.

KDL has used Piczo, he's learned the truth about it, and agrees with EVERYONE in the community which you are completely oblivious too, called "The Simpsons Community".

Also, for some people creating a website, reading code, learning programming languages can be fun for some people, it is for me. Not everyone likes to get on a skateboard and perform the same kickflip over and over, and probably break a few bones in the process.

I've seen some of your pages, while your art is good, the actual site itself wasnt. You must have a design of some type. You dont have to use fancy PHP. But you must at least understand HTML so that you know whats going on with the page.

I have created a site for Maggiecute and I also host it, at http://monica.babysimpson.co.uk, creating a website isnt rocket science.

Free pagebuilders = Laziness

In my opinion, Casper meant different thing... of course building HTML pages yourself is more professional than using online builders or even using Dreamweaver. But what if you don't have time, or desire to learn all that stuff? It's like knowing what happens inside of your car and fixing it yourself - but people all around the world prefer using tech service instead. It doesn't have anything to do with laziness, it's only a matter of free time.

Try to look at this from another side - you build pages yourself, and that's great, but what about hosting them? You don't maintain your own server, you use someone else's one for that - because it's easier and faster. The same with websites, you can either do all the thing yourself, or use already existing tools/services.

KDL has used Piczo, he's learned the truth about it, and agrees with EVERYONE in the community which you are completely oblivious too, called "The Simpsons Community".

* Dagdamor becomes very suspicious every time someone "agrees with EVERYONE", since it looks more like a sect than a community Rolls Eyes
