Title: Simpsons-related books Post by: Dagdamor on October 31, 2008, 15:07 Few days ago, I've finished scanning/processing one book I have here - Bart Simpson's Guide To Life.
I know we all would prefer Lisa book, but... I don't have it yet. :red: But even that book can be interesting for you, because it's about all family, and very funny in places. I considered it a book for children at first, but then changed my mind - there is a lot of complex context, a lot of good hidden jokes from the Simpsons team, and a chance to look at the world from Bart's point of view. There is a lot about Lisa there, too. :) Previews: (http://www.simpsons.su/images/books/guidetolife01.gif) (http://www.simpsons.su/images/books/guidetolife02.gif) (http://www.simpsons.su/images/books/guidetolife03.gif) Links: The whole book scanned (CBZ) - http://store.simps.ru/books/guidetolife.cbz (40 Megs) Separate pages (JPG) - http://store.simps.ru/books/guidetolife/ CBZ format is best viewed by the CDisplay (http://www.geocities.com/davidayton/CDisplay) program. But actually it's just a regular ZIP archive. Have fun! Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: SimpReal on November 01, 2008, 11:18 Ooh, this looks interesting! Thanks :)
Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Andreas on November 01, 2008, 15:59 I bought that one a couple of years ago, and it's very a very funny book indeed, not only aimed to kids, but also to dedicated fans. As Serge hinted, you can find some nice Lisa-related stuff as well. :)
Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Loic on November 01, 2008, 17:59 Thank you for this book Dagdamor!
How many time had you spend to scan all these pages? ;) Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: matrixdll on November 01, 2008, 22:21 Scanning a lot of paper requires a lot of nerves, for sure…
Thanks, Serge, for such an interesting stuff! As for the book: i won't deny, that my favorite part is here... :D Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Dagdamor on November 06, 2008, 00:01 matrixdll
LOL, aww! Yes, makes you think and wonder indeed ;) Glad to know someone has found this useful. I'm planning to order the Lisa Book soon; of course if I get it, I'll try and scan it as well. But, if anyone knows if it's already scanned and can be downloaded - please post about it here, I wouldn't like to do something that was already done... I have suggestion for you. I know how long it takes to scan one page of a book, especial when the book is heavy or big. I think the best way to do this is to buy a tripod and a digital camera, and then take picture of every page. Also, do you mean this one: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Lisa-Book/Matt-Groening/e/9780060748234/ Thank you for the book. I just downloaded. Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Lisa M. Simpson on November 13, 2008, 21:46 I read "The Simpsons and Philosophy" now, but in German. It's an interesting book, easy to understand and with an even balance between philosophy and simpsons. It's sketchy for example in a direct comparison with "autonomy" or "free will" from Geert Keil, that's written in German too, but both books inspire me to read more about philosophy. It has my recommendation. :)

I have to go now (to the Christmas market), have fun! :lisa: edit: I think it's intelligent and humorously written, just like the simpsons themself, but another mind another impression, so read it on yourself. You mean you already bought that book, scanned it and even uploaded for us? o_O Wow, thank you so much!! I'm downloading it as soon as possible, you did it as fast as a flash :) It would take several days, about a week, for me to download the file. I hope the link won't die... Anyway, I'm sure the book has Lisa spirit in it. Even Bart's Guide was rather clever thing in places, Lisa Book cannot be worse than that, or I'll be disappointed in the show. ;) Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Lisa M. Hmmm, I could split it up in some smaler parts... 1 (http://uploaded.to/?id=ju39ua) 2 (http://uploaded.to/?id=t8e9mx) 3 (http://uploaded.to/?id=6i1xo4) 4 (http://uploaded.to/?id=sb1mld) Have fun! :p Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Loic on December 22, 2008, 10:39 Lisa M. Thanks for this book! You must be very patient to scan 52 pages (and the image's quality is very good) ;) Thanks you again :) Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Lisa M. Simpson on December 22, 2008, 20:27 You must be very patient to scan 52 pages (and the image's quality is very good) ;) I did it gladly. Because for me the best thank is the being of LTS and all of you and your art. And actually, enjoyment is a better enjoyment, or enjoyment at all, if you can share it with other. Thus, I should thank you - in a relative way... ...but enough of that - I'm happy that you like it, so my work is done. :) Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Gazmanafc on December 22, 2008, 20:38 Yeah, scans are nice.... but owning the real thing is better. BUY THE BOOK! Import it if you have to. :P
(I guess I could use these scans for some grabpics, it'd save me from having to scan my own copy of the book :P) Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Dagdamor on December 22, 2008, 22:15 Gazmanafc
Seconded! Such books are also a great source for interesting grabs/scenes. Not everyone will be able to tell where the scene came from, if it's not a regular episode. And of course, just in case I'm telling that I'm gonna buy this book anyway as soon as I have the possibility, being able to leaf through a real book still cannot be replaced with scans. :) Lisa M. Simpson Huge thanks again, for splitting/reuploading the file! Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Lisa M. Simpson on December 23, 2008, 01:22 Quote Yeah, scans are nice.... but owning the real thing is better. BUY THE BOOK! Import it if you have to. I fully agree with that, it even looks nice and to hold it in one's hands is better than looking at those scans - I derogate my one work - but that's the truth... :DTitle: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: brakusaetsya on December 23, 2008, 07:27 Lisa M. Thanks a lot for the scan - downloading the book right now:-) ----- Also, I wanted to ask - do anyone here own "The Simpsons Handbook: Secret Tips from the Pros"? Really need to know, have they any instructions about drawing Wiggum family there? Please, share the table of contents with me, if you can. Finished reading the book. What can I say - it's awesome :) Recommended for everyone here (don't need to say "for Lisa fans", heh). Thank you again for scanning it. Visual quality is nearly perfect, I know it's not easy to scan a book with many pages. brakusaetsya Unfortunately, I don't know... most probably they have Ralph tutorials, but no idea about his parents. I hope someone else who owns the book, will post about it. Title: Re: Simpsons-related books Post by: Lisa M. Simpson on January 08, 2009, 09:43 Lisa M. Simpson Finished reading the book. Yeah, especially if those pages are glittering and sleek and if the scanner "is on the blink" and screw the scans up... I'm glad you like it! :) |
