Title: CargoOfDarkness - Special Lisa Simpson Gallery & Original Art
Post by: CargoOfDarkness on December 08, 2006, 09:48
So here is my gallery!

Like sitting on the top of a cold, lonely mountain...
My first picture is one, some of you may already know. But I want you to write something for me, what you think of it and stuff. Cause I like the pic so much. Or you copy your comment from SFWC if you want.  :homer:

There will be more Lisa pictures, soon. Better, larger and more lisa-like. I promise!  :lisa:

(I'll reveiw this a second time, WITHOUT looking at my old reveiw. So, dont shoot me if I contradict myself :p)

I personaly think its verrry symbolic. After looking at it a second time, I notice she isnt wearing anything to keep her warm, which could mean she isnt 'really' there, just a metaphore. Which also stays in line with the quoted sentance :D

Again, I must say I'm amazed on how realistic the background mountains are. As well as the folds in Lisa's dress.

Lisa herself doesnt look too comfortable... *runs up mountain with a pillow*
... but thats very well done! Hard to draw a pose like that.

Its kinda angsty in a way. She must be real lonely in 'reality' to think like this... *runs back up with a hug*...

Awsome job Frank!
Carry on like this ;) These types of pictures are priceless.  :lisa:

Oh, I can only say that the picture is complex and impressive. I always liked your shading, and your style is original. My only nitpick is Lisa's expression; the note tells me that she feels sad right now, but her face doesn't. Like Casper said, she doesn't look feeling comfortable... I hope the mountain top isn't too sharp... *gets kicked; runs away* :D But nevertheless, this picture is very well done, both Lisa and the background. The shading of the rocks and the mist amongst them looks very professional. Good job, Frank!

CargoOfDarkness
Hello!
Your drawing is very handsome and skilled, especially I like all that cliffs and clouds surrounding Lisa. It is done simply masterly. And of course I should mention actually the main heroine of your work.

Lisa looks stunning.
What a fine pose she have! I'm very impressed with a position of her hands, an excellent bend you have made, such sensual and expressive.
To other details. The hairdo is made perfectly, a shaing representing the hair mass simply magnificent! One of pearls looks too big for me, but I think it was your intention, so I will not speak about such discrepancies and be centred on another details.

The folds on a dress are made expressively and in place. A salience makes me think that Lisa already has a breast, so it wouln't be our little Lisa. ;) And the similar remark - I'm a little confused that she has a visible open part of her hip, But it is just nonsense, you know. It's your right to draw what you want. :)
I have to say there's something strange with her feet. I mean such little hillocks on the side of each foot. Yes I know it's a nonsense too, just it looks some strange to me. As if Lisa has some troubles with her feet (prescription shoes hasn't helped? (3F01) :()

So, on the whole the picture is great. Of course it is not deprived of some lacks but those are so small that I even don't want to recollect them.
We want more of your pictures!

This is sort of freaky.

The picture here almost resembles the fanfic that I'm writing for LisaCon 2007. But I don't want to give too much away about it. ;)

a great work Cargo of Darkeness...

Very good picture, though I'd prefer to discuss it in the LisaCon-related thread instead. ;)
I can say that the subject is charming, and I like the backgrounds (both of them). Using the default "grass" brush looks a bit reused even to me now, but it doesn't make the picture any worse. Grownup Lisa looks great! You did a really good job with her. :) As for the kids... their proportions are a bit off, especially hands. But the picture "in total" looks very harmonious and professionally done.

The background on your last pic looks awesome! But, as Dag said, the kids are a bit off. Grown-up Lisa looks pretty good, though. ;)

Good job!

Well, Gustavo, this picture brightend your day? But it is so sad...?

Dagdamor, this picture tooked me very long, especially the kidz, because Lisas pose was very difficult and I stil haven?t done it right, but it is okay IMO. I have my own Simpsons-styl which changes time to time. but I am very glad you like it...  :lisa:

Sorry... seems that we have rather slow times right now. It will pass :)

Now back to the topic: I like the Lisa/Brian drawing very much. :) It's nicely done (love that chubby cheek), and they both look on-model. Interesting idea, like Andreas said, they could be good friends in a crossover.

I do like that Lisa-Brian picture :) They look very cute together... and you've certainly done a good job with this, it doesn't look rushed or sloppy at all, looks just perfect and everything :) Nicely done.

Hehe, that is a wonderful idea indeed, Cargo! Brian and Lisa are a great team, as Andreas said, they have much in common. I just hope Lisa won't take after Brian's bad habits, but that aside, it's a very interesting characters combination.

Artistically speaking, the pic is very on-model for both, i like that Brian and Lisa have almost the same size: Heh, he could even carry her around on his back :D Like Lisa's happy expression and the clean lineart. Do you plan to color this one? I hope so :D

Uh, I've seen only couple of "Family Guy" episodes, so I can't judge, how much they have in common and could they be good friends. But looking on this picture I remember Marge with Snoopy :) She is big fan of that dog, probably Lisa like funny white dogs too, so they looking very natural together. Well done!

As far as I know - though I don't much about Family Guy - that Brian guy is a highly intelligent talking dog with a higher eductaion. Like Gromit, only Brian can speak. I guess those two will have something to discuss:-) Great idea greatly done. Thanks, CargoOfDarkness:-)

Few... I am back... well... first to say, that Brian-Lisa pic will have to wait a bit... sorry... but Family Guy isn?t a pointless show...  ;)

Weeeeell, it would be mean, if I am leaving you without something new right now? Hehe, but I am not going to. So here it is.

It?s called "Ich will kein Engel sein", which means "I don?t want to be an angel". Could be a reference to all those Lisa-Wing-Angel pics, couldn?t it? But it isn?t just that. It is inspirated by the Song "Engel" by the band Rammstein. It describes Lisas feelings really good. Cause she is an realist? I mean, she does not belive in angels.

Well, I translated the song in English for you, but I would sound as deep as the original (and doesn?t rime).

BTW: That "Sergeant Lisa" is the mascott of our unity!  :lisa:

"Who?s good on earth in his lifetime
Will become an angel after death
You looking at the sky and think
Why can?t you see them?

They live beyond the sunshine
Seperated from us infinitly far away
They have to claw themself on stars
So they will not fall from the sky.

When the clouds fall asleep
You can see us in the sky
We are frightened and alone
God really knows I don?t want to be an angel..."

And here is the scetch:

Wow, sorry for not saying nothing about your first 2 pics, cause they are awesome to the max....

Vey nice effects on that pic where Lisa on on those hills.  Everything like a combination of realistic and cartoony style, you always do pretty good and thoughtfull pics with lots of meaning, Frank, and this is not exception.  sincerely my cup of tea, the hands and feet are a little off but looking it as a whole it look stupendous.

The other pic where there is like a time bridge between the present and the future really blew off my mind,  Vey nice color palette.  I just have a question.  Do you have some knowledge on Matte coloring, it really seems like you do, comrade.   Again your pics are very top quality, we are I'm hopying that you'll post more of your colorations.

Yay! Rammstein! :star: I am a little confused though. This song isnt by Rammstein, just inspired by the Rammstein song 'Engel' ('Angel', obviously). So which band is this by? Or is it a remix on the single?

That said, its a very good picture. The picture is, incredibly symbolic, like most of your work.
Opinion:
The angel Lisa is the perceived vision of her, by people like us.  :gigi:
Lisa in the military clothes, doesnt want to be seen as an angel, doesnt want to be seen as perfect ("God really knows I don?t want to be an angel..."). The military clothes reperesent resistance, and the will to fight, not to just give in and be seen as something she doesnt wish to be. The empty space could possibly be the mental 'battle ground', with only the nothingness of space to give any advantage or disadvantage. A true one-on-one with her perceived enemy.

Or I'm at a tangent, after watching too many space war films. :)
Very good picture though, technicaly its very good indeed. Well done!

Kang, the last picture, sketch including, is brilliant! Looks like you like that military theme, that whole "Good vs. Evil" idea, your pictures show that sometimes. Anyway, that last picture is very well done. I love Lisa's pose, the way she cuddles around the sphere... her absent expression also works well here. Awesome job, and I like the sketches too.

My good man, try to do somethin' with her handies someway! :D ... now it looks definitely frustrating, not to be said in offensive way for you... Those angular articulations disturbs me everytime I see it. :( In other than that your picture is more than just Ok, it looks definitely beautiful, especially the horizon and the desert blue place where military-Lisa is located. The whole impression of that work is something unusual and for this I want say to you my Thanks! Though I'm not treating the military theme, especially towards Lisa. I hope still my criticism didn't hurt you in any way. :) Will be waiting for your future works!

Sorry, I don?t really understood that... what is now wrong? Do you mean my writing here in the message board? I don?t know what you mean with "angular articualtions"? Or do you mean the text on the picture? *scratches head*

Though I'm not treating the military theme, especially towards Lisa. I hope still my criticism didn't hurt you in any way.
Weeeell, for me, I do really think Lisa could be involved in military buisness when she is getting older. Cause Lisa is a person who want to change things in the world, and if you belive or not, the military is the most thing in the world that changes something everywere... to the bad or to the good for people. It also is part of politic... and cauuuuuse I am not the "cute-little"-Lisa guy, I love drawing more appealing and cumbersome art... but still making Lisa cute. ;)

I believe he means the hands in your picture, they look different from the original Simpsons hands. :)

I agree that, I think the hands that you draw are a bit too realistic. I like realism, its just when they are added with a cartoony body, it can clash a bit.

Here are your hands that you've drawn. They're impressive but, they dont match with the cartoon they reperesent:

Here are a few examples of hands from the show:
(Please note, I took these directly from 'Cute Lisa Pics' thread, rather than look for pictures of Lisa's hands, simply to give an idea of the shows standards, rather than perfect standards.)
(And sorry about the JPEGness of the pictures)

The shows hands just look a bit more rounded and shorter. Kinda 'sausage' like. Yummie! :P

Anyway, I dont mean to lecture or anything, I hope this helps. :)

Ah, Casper did all dirty work :p so I'm only about to echoing: yes, there's a little uncomfortable feeling that your drawed handies calls when I see it. The examples perfectly shows what I mean as "good" way of hand-drawing in simpsons-style...
-And-
I'm not thinking that to become the military would be the perfect using of her abilities. Look at that crazy moments in Iraque and Turkish and you'll conclude that not always something _really_ changes in this world due only to militaries... but that's a veeery far deviation from those things which I'm really glad to discuss with you here at LTS. Maybe at another place :) Personally I think she'll be a president, but and your version of her future is good someway, because there's simply no strong defined future fate for anyone (those future moments from the show still I'm tend to take at face value :-\ so...)
(@ Casper - thanks for explanation :) )

I kind of like the design of the hands, adds something different to the picture. Somehow makes her more real.

I like the proper lisa style that is cuter, but the "angular" hands adds something to the style.

Loving the work ^^. The Engel one, loving the Rammstein referance ^^ Lovin it ^^
Anyhow, I quite like the way you have drawn lisa in a different light than she often is, for example, I couldnt imagine her joining the army with her mindset, however if not given the choice, I would imagine she would take up the 'Sarah Connor' like roll, a strong, highly intelligent girl, but hates war, thats the thing I noticed instantly.
Love the alteration of hands by the way. I do agree with Caspe on this though, she does actually have stubby fingers, as her local doctor Mr.Hibbert states, but hey, Im not one to make opinions on peoples work, as mine is chocablock full of flaws ^^ so Bravo ^^

Wow, this is a good day for Lisa art indeed! :)

And even if it is for Dag, i hope i'm allowed to like it too! Oh well... i'll like it anyway :D How can i not like such a pretty and stylish Adult-age Lisa? Her enigmatic expression and her strong body are a nice mix with those lyrics. I always loved the way you draw her wild hair too!
And i'm also impressed by the novel, particular type of shading you used on this one, it has a lot of contrast, it really its your style and gives good impression of a 3d rendering of the character, even because you have a good grasp on, in face, 3d modelness and you can use those shadows to recreate particulars like the sheet's random crumples and Lisa's soft shapes in a very efficient way. :)

I don't know the song, but i dig those lyrics, and but if it is any bit like the picture, i'm sure it will be great as well! :D

Hey, it's nice :)
Her left arm seems to be deformed a little, and the shades on her face give her weird dark look, but I suppose, these shades are needed to make the atmosphere. But still, nose is a bit strange for me.

But oh God, what a great work with her body. Usually I don't like very much pictures of half-naked adult Lisa because it's hard not to make her look vulgar. But you did everything good, her outfit looks very natural. And it took only one hour! I'm very impressed :)

Whoa, you drew that specially for the forum's better future? I hope it works! :p
Seriously, it's a very impressive drawing, you managed to picture a beautiful (not afraid to use this word) body, and the shading gives the effect of facing the bright, overwhelming light. Lisa's expression... I just like it :) A great picture.

very nice style there, it is giving out the impression of an 80's independant lisa. heh heh, matches the song.

I would say this picture works great black & white and woulnt be sure if it would even work coloured. I personally like the shading and the look it gives lisa, lisa with attitude heh heh.

Heh, you're right, she looks a bit like she'd come straight from the 80's indeed! For a work of just one hour, this is very impressive, and despite of very few minor nitpicks (her thumb seems to be all wrong, even with your trademark long fingers), the shading looks very interesting.

This is Smart Suppergirl (own creation), a female hero out of frame. Doesn?t like to rescue mankind! Doesn?t like to be brave! Steals from the rich to... get rich! Invaded UNO-territory! Likes to bother children! Can move buildings... cannot knot shoelaces! Likes to sing! Nobody likes to hear her sing...

Even if I'm not a fan at all of the whole women bodybuilding thing, the drawing is still fantastic!
High-quality lineart, pure colors, great shading. For some reason, half-transparent gloves impressed me :)

*ROFL* at the character description :D

God this picture is good, amazed as dag said about the semi-transparancy of the gloves. Clean and well coloured picture.

Good detailing too :)

Don?t worry, Dagdamor, she?s not into bodybuilding at all. She?s only puffed up like that in action. That?s her power actually. Normally, she looks, well, normaly. Soon I am going to draw a picture like that.  :)

DR. ZOIDBERG: Whaaa??? *turns room into food mess*

I'm close to repeat Zoidberg's behavior here :D
You can do art requests, you say? Okay... if two characters are allowed, please draw Bart and Lisa escaping from fire in Frink's laboratory. The whole building is burning around them, and Bart holds Lisa's hand, pulling her to the door.

Well, not exactly what you described, hope you like it anyway? Colored or pencil-shading? Shaked or spooned? XD

Why aren?t anyone else comment my pictures? Are they boring?  :(

They're not boring, they're very interesting, but personally i'm not in a good mood to review any kind of art lately, i'm having troubles myself... and you drew three pics in a very short amount of time. :) which is impressive.
Please be patient, i personally will come back to review the pics better, but right now i feel like i need to stay away from art a bit.

Frank, I'm sorry but you ought to know this by now, I hardly ever comment on art anymore. And I'm really not in the mood to explain again, so if anyone is reading this and asking "Why?" then please go and read some of my other posts, particularly in the "LTS: Is this what you expected it to be? (http://www.lisa-simpson.net/topic/377.0)" thread.

With that said Frank, your art is never boring to me. I've always liked your style of drawing Simpsons. My favourite picture by you has to be The Logical Picture. On its own it's a great work of art, plus it's inspired by an awesome band. Can't go wrong with that.

That's not exactly what I wanted to see, but it's even better. I love how you pictured this scene, it's... very sweet. Like all those details like Bart's torn sleeve, or those burns on their skin (I hope I used the right word here). Keeping in mind that it was a request - this is damn good. Thanks!

And about replies - I understand you well, but nothing I can do :( I always try to comment to all pictures that I liked. But right now LTS has slow times, so I guess we all have to wait them through and don't lose hope. Of course your pics aren't boring.

wow, simple picture, great effect.

This picture speaks a lot, the expression on barts face converys his worry and hope Lisa will be alright. Even though it shows a sad scene it shows the love that does exist between them too.

I been feeling mightlily depressed last couple of days and that picture has lifted my spirits, It is also the same reason why I have been fairly quiet last couple of days.

Nice one :)

Wow, yes, that is a very dark picture, but stunningly well done  I agree with Syke that it looks definitely like something from a comic book. And looking back over your previous drawings I'm seeing a consistent style here. You really have some impressive pictures :) You should be getting paid for these!

Oops, I just realized I haven't commented on that pic so far.  :red:  As the others said already, this is really well done, very dramatic, and the shaded version intensifies the mood even further. You can feel with the characters, wahting to rush into that scene for helping Bart and his sister.

If there's something to nitpick, I'd say it's how Bart is carrying her out of the lab. It's still in flames with smoke everywhere, so I'd assume he should better run, rather than walking out slowly. Of course, he might not have enough strenght to carry her quickly, but it almost looks like he has no reason to rescue here anymore (at least that's what could be interpreted from the look of his face). And I really hope that's not the case...

CargoOfDarkness
Twist In My Sobriety
That's a clean picture, full of light. Like the wind blows Lisa's clothes
Contains very nice work with shading, I think it's your mark. But there's some details that I can't say I like so much - the hair is kinda too thick (for me) and the face' expression looks not so tranquil, it's more... worried. But still all this fits her very well, and in her character.

SuperLisa
It's odd to see such muscled Lisa. I don't think this is really necessary to her in any case, while there's so many adorers ready to defend her ;) But the face's expressions is carried out well. A kind of a comic-pic.

And concerning the last shaded one.
Finally someone's here used the single pencil for fully drawn picture [for Lisa-related one, yeah!] The shading if not perfect, still so close to it. Bravo, man! What I like more of all is the smudged shadows at Bart's face, it looks very cool. Still it funny to see the rended sleeve of his shirt resemles not the cloth but the...broken eggshell :) The 'clouring' of flames&smoke is worthy. Nice one.

D'OH!!! *the yell can be heard in Germany due to fair wind*
I don't know how, but I apparently missed this picture, wanted to reply to it afterwards, even shown the picture to my friends... then forgot. :red: I'm such a ignorant person... sorry! Anyway, the shaded version is even better than the black&white one. All those flames look believable, and like Bart's expression. It's noticeable that he's sad because he cares about Lisa, and right now not sure if she's alive. Very emotional drawing, and it fits the story perfectly. Thanks. :)

Wow, that?s the spirit! Thank you very, very much, everybody for the replies! ^__^

Well, Andreas, kind of interisting, why I d?dn?t draw Bart running from the lab. Really, I have no idea. But as an excuse, I could say the picture shows a slowing down time and Bart just focused on Lisa and here missfortune (I hope that is the right word). Also it makes the picture less action-like and more dramatic.

*silence* ... *hears and distand echo of the word D?oh*

Well, I don?t mind you answering late, Dag, cause for myselfe I didn?t read the other replies as well. So I didn?t missed ya. :D
But just one thing: I never asked for >what< I was drawing this pic. Is it a novel (sorry, I never look into the fanfic corner, I don?t read foreign language-fanfics)?

Sylenne, getting paid for this pictures will be a kind of a problem, cause there are copyrights on the Simpsons characters.  But I could sell you some of my RailOfDestiny-Art or some Smart Supergirl pictures.  :p
Anyway, big thank you.

I also missed the shaded version of "Frink's Laboratory" and for that i'm really sorry, Cargo... the work of pencil shading and fixing you did on that picture has nothing short of amazing to it. It's dramatic, it's poignant, it's just all around well done... it gives the picture an even stronger feeling of drama and loss. It's a very sad picture, but i can only cheer for brave little Bart and can't but hope he's not too late.  :bart:

About the Valentine pic... hehe: i thought it was "I Love Lisa" indeed and that the girl in the pic was a realistic Lisa with you. I'm actually glad that i was wrong :p
Jokes aside, the pic is perfect as a valentine's gift :) i have just that to say.

I'm no good at commenting art, but to put it simple: The picture "Ich will kein Engel sein" is definitely my favorite picture on the theme that is Lisa.
I guess it may sound blunt, but I think it's masterly put together not only from a technical standpoint, but also in the aesthetic sense. It portrays a Lisa, unfamilliar though the sight may be, in all her solidarity and realism. Lisa is a soldier at heart, and here I see the fiery part of her soul, waged against (or with?) her self-conscious, balancing half. You've brought out part of the masterpiece that is Lisa.

Very artistic, I commend you sir CargoOfDarkness. ^-^

Incidentally, you don't happen to have it in a larger resolution, do you? :p I'd like to print a poster.

Lisa Simpson - Am Fenster

Lisa Simpson - At the Window

Finally my work for the Lisa Con 2008 is finished!

Attention: If you want to experience the picture with a wonderful song, dont open the picture. Listen to this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luWT-dEDT-c) I uploaded on youtube.

This picture is a gift from Lisa for a certain boy she is in love with. Could be Collin, because the scenery is showing Springfield after the dome-disaster in the Simpsons Movie.

Inspiration for the picture is given by the song "Am Fenster" by the east-german band "City".
You can listen to the beautiful song with a little video of my picture on youtube! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luWT-dEDT-c)

LISA SIMPSON - AM FENSTER (http://www.lisa-simpson.net/attachment/2165/614.0)

Write me some comments, would you?!?  :lisa:

BTW: I know Lisa is missing her eyelashes, but I wanted it to be so, it looked wirred with... ^^

I have the lyrics here. Also a translation I did for the members who can?t read German of cause.

... ... flieg ich durch die Welt... ....

--------------------
Well, here the english translation. The lyrics a very poetical, so I will not rhyme, but you can understand the deep meaning.

For one time to know this is forever
It?s not a rush who is allready judgeing the night
It?s not a play of colors or a glow of candles
Allready chased away by the morning gray.

For one time realiseing and feeling deep in the blood
This is mine and it is just cause of you
Not cooling the forehead at the window
Which is touched hardly by the fog.

For one time realiseing and feeling deep in the blood
This is mine and it is just cause of you
Concerns a bird, care for my featherdress
The rain is wetting I fly around the world...

I fly areound the world...

... ... I fly around the world... ...

Man, this is awesome. The play of colours at the feathers, at the background (that is very well done) is so believable. But the main part of the pic is Lisa of course, she's shining like the sun... Perfectly transmits even my own feelings to her. She's a star in the dark world. Everyone tries to badmouth her, while she is still shining regardless.

A mastermind is a intelectual superior beeing, someone who is way smarter than anybody else.

In this case, a mastermind is an alien life-form that can control other life-forms with its mind.

The Scrin created an symbiotic life with humans giving them their mind-control-abilities. They are called "cultists". Lisa is a perfect candidate for them...  :lisa:

^-^ Tiberium!

That's friggin awesome! I don't know exactly what to comment on this one, but it's an overwhelmingly forceful combination of attitude and vibrant colors. Again you let out Lisa's inner rage and strive for knowledge and truth. I don't really know anything about the scrin, but Lisa is a mastermind. Call mastermind a genius, genius often comes with a bit of insanity/madness (the fascinating kind). In the show Lisa's done well to keep this at bay (most of the time), but you're relieving her of the shackles in this picture, and what we see is this completely whack genius, a scrin mastermind. Cool!  Love her her pose, expression, and the damn fine details and colors.

Cheers to a great artist! ^_^

Like on many of your pictures, there's something weird with Lisa's fingers, but this time, you did a great job with her proportions overall; I see nothing to nitpick at. As for all those details, like Lisa's clothes, crystals (yay translucence!), background... they are perfect.

I'm sorry i took so much time to reply CoD, but i'm having some relaxing time right now and i can use it for what i needed to do long time ago :)

Anyway, your last picture... is quite marvellous, the others were also rightfully astonished. The strong point of the picture is imho the vivid, living, powerful and perfect choice of colors and effects, not to mention the details on Lisa's dress and her "crown", that looks like exactly out of the game itself. Also Lisas pose is very well thought out, her stance gives an impression of power, menace, dangerous beauty, and almost omnipotence. The background, the crystals (AWESOME effect there), the font you used for the text, all comes together niocely to make a powerful picture. The little green reflection on Lisa's hair is a touch that give the picture depth and tone.
Congratulations. :)

a little nitpick: Well, it's always the same after all.. i really think you should train a bit more on drawing Simpsonic hands, even if in this picture you still did a quite good job :)

COD says: "Anyway, I was a bit upset so few response to my thread".

(Gustavo begins to talk .. but Lisa took the microphone)...

Lisa says: the few replys are due to members who do not have words to describe their feelings about the pics... :)

artists always feel sad from time to time ... is a type of "sensitivity" that causes sadness .. however the art don't need justification or motives ... the art is born of a necessity (and sometimes of the love) and your drawings are an admirable example

is the love by the art...  :star:

That is true.

Or, sometimes, members are just a little too busy so that they just come to LTS and see what happened and leave the comments to other day.

Anyway, don't be upset because of that ;) Art has it's ups and downs, and sometimes those ups and downs mean no art comments.

Anyway, I read a while back you never tried to draw Lisa in anime style. Well, if you ask me, it's great. At least, you can draw in anime style, I can't :p (Well, I never tried to before... heheh... heh...)

And the other pic: Great parody :) Nicely coloured. :)

Gustavo said it, I only comment art if I feel that I have something relevant to say about it. The anime picture's looking good, but I don't really like anime and I can't think of anything else to say. "Looking good/cute/adorable" or somewhere in that direction isn't really an option to me, even if the author would appreciate it... sorry, I only comment when I feel like it. :x

This is a really, weird picture XD Not sure if I understand it at all (asuming there is a plot) BUT its damned cool and evil looking. :P Think my biggest critic is the back of her head goes off in a strange angle. I think its to compensate for a thin neck, reletive to her face. But it doesnt distract from the picture, the green crystles look very expencive! very well coloured, and the effects you've added to them are great. :)

Though the style is a bit sketchy, the pictures quite nice. Though from first glance couldnt recognise that the anime character was just anime Lisa until I saw the 'CG' logo. However, I dont agree with Yggdrasil (Shadow Nait) about the shadows. I like what the shadows mean... kinda like they'd combine to make one, if they could just make friends!  :gigi:

Kill Burns (http://mitglied.lycos.de/Maudie/kill_burns.jpg)
Well, considering I've only watched 20 minutes of Kill Bill... and regreted every second of it, its amazing this picture appeals to me even slightly. :P Though I cant stand that yellow banana suit, you've copied the original very nicely as far as I can remember. Marge is quite well drawn, though her head looks a bit small, but I'll put that down to the age of the picture. I think you've improved quite a lot.

Overall, a good few demonic set of pictures! :)

Of cause I would never blame you for not posting here... it is just, that I am very happy when I come home from work and see at LTS and see such all the nice postings. It makes me feel warm and confortable. :)

Thank you all for your postings, I apreciate that very much!

Mmh, CCD! , didn?t you wanted to draw me something, did you? :P
Okay, you are busy with work... but I am looking forward to it. :lisa:

Thank you Casper for your posting and review. You are right about the shadows... they are inted to melt to one. ^^
And about Lisa cultist... who of you ever heard about Command & Conquere - Tiberium Wars? :P Nevermind!

As I told last week, here is something you can looking forward to see:

(Adult) Lisa and Milhouse pictured in a romantic scenery in styl of the song "Summer wine".

"Take off you nerdy glasses and help me pass the time
And I will give to you summer wine"...

Okay, that Lisa - Milhouse picture has to wait cause of the Simpsons vs. Futurama contest. :D

Anyway, something off here, little mature content...

"Let's get physical, physical
I wanna get physical
Let's get into physical
Let me hear your body talk, your body talk
Let me hear your body talk..."

This scene shows my own original characters Luna and Cargo in one intimate situation. Although theire bodys are made of steel and electronics they can have the joy of making love in an unusal kind - in space without gravity rotating like under water. *smile*

Long time no work by me, but this ways something I had a lot of fun with.

I am looking forward to you commentaries!

Hmm... apart from their outfits they don't look much like an arrangement of nuts and bolts. :P I'm unfamilliar with the characters themselves, but they're well designed and as always you've done a wonderful job with the colors. The scene itself is a bit corny to me, so I don't have much words for it. Well, I like corny, but in a different way. ;)

Sorry for not commenting, I've been a little busy lately, studying for my exams -.-' I only replied to that recent topic on Lisa's Friends. Anyway... I like the way you used the colours. I agree with Empethree, the work looks absolutely amazing and fantastic. All these colours and shades are done extermely vell. And their poses - it's something noticeable :D Just for carping, it seems for me that girl's leg kinda grow into the man's stomach. What I wished to say then... The background's colouring is praiseworthy, so unreal and cosmic. It's like the personages are hovering in weightlessness.

Argh, missed your latest picture somehow. -_-
I can't say it has totally impressed me, but it look complex enough and I doubt I ever will be able to draw something similar. Their faces... their eyes look the most catching attention. Facial expressions, instead, are rather "pale", you could show a bit more emotions on their faces. Their outfits are great, the same with the poses :)
BTW, if you wanted to show them floating deep in the water (if I understood the description right), it's good to show something related to the ocean, even ocean of future, too - for example, an aquatic plant. Otherwise it looks like they are floating in space - which doesn't look bad too.
Keep up your great work :)

Yes, they are upper in the planet atmosphere. No, they are not underwater, maybe I wrote it wrong, it is just *like* they are under water - space without gravity so... you know? :)

Holy cow...... that is gotta be among one of the best I seen Frank..... amazing shading, amazing texture, amazing detail and above all drawn beautifully.

Only one little gripe. The shading on Lisa's nose makes it lok concave, with a dent all the way long it, at least it does viewing on my TV. Looking at other areas of skin nearby that side of the nose should be in highlight rather shadow.

As for guessing the song my mind is blank atm..... I have been a bit ill this past week and my brain is somewhere else :)

Beautiful, beautiful stuff here.  I'm particularly fond of Lisa as a Scrin Mastermind, but it's all very well done.  As for the song on that last one, well, heck if I know.  There's a lot of songs that look like it could influence there, but nothing that I've been listening to lately strikes me as having been the one song.

Wow, man! This is beautiful; and at the same time one of the most complex Simpsons fanart pictures I've ever seen. Amazing work!
I have only two nitpicks aside from the nose thing that was already mentioned. Lisa's right hand looks deformed and you forgot about her eyelashes.
Now back to the positive side... I have no words about Homer and Marge. They turned out even better than Lisa. Love the way you pictured her father, great and fitting him appearance; Marge looks beautiful, all those details and her pose make it like a charm. :)
Like others said, keep it up, very impressive job.

I can't guess the song, but that's a fantastic picture. What really makes me like it is the mood -- that and the fact that Marge can carry four whole watermelons in her hair.  :gigi: And I like the colours and the almost glowing effect on Lisa herself.

As for con-crit, the main problem seems to be Lisa's hands. It looks as though she has four fingers on each hand -- the thumb should start nearer the wrist and it has its own shape. There are some useful examples of Simpson hands here. (http://www.simpworks.com/forums/the-creative-pencil/simpson-hands-male/msg89266/#msg89266)

This is a bit of a nitpick, but I suspect that the picture frames behind Lisa, and the wall texture, are pre-made. (Please correct me if not!) Using ready-made backgrounds and effects ruins the Simpsony style of the picture, and I remember, even from pics that are now quite old, that you can draw really good backgrounds. Even if it takes a lot of time to draw everything yourself, I think it's worth it because it gives the picture a much better quality.

Still did not get the song?

Lisa Simpson performing Robbie Williams? "Bongo Bong" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4gnHuEs6aM)
Orignal By Manu Chao - but Robbies Version is kewler!  :D  :lisa:  :D

Mama was queen of the Mambo
Papa was king of the Kongo
Deep down in the jungle
I start banging my first bongo
Every monkey'd like to be in my place instead of me
Cause I'm the queen of Bongo baby I'm the queen of Bongo-bong.

I went to the big town where there is a lot of sound
From the jungle to the city looking for a bigger crowd
So I played my boogie for the people of big city
But they don't go crazy when I'm banging on my boogie.

Nobody'd like to be in my place instead of me
cause nobody go crazy when i bang it on my boogie
I'm a queen without a crown and keep loosing the big town
But I'm the queen of bongo baby I'm the queen of bongo-bong.

They say that Im a clown making too much dirty sound
They say there is no place for little monkey in this town
Nobody'd like to be in my place instead of me
Cause nobody go crazy when I'm bangin on my boogie.

Bang it on my bongo all that swing belongs to me
I'm so happy there's nobody in my place instead of me
I'm a queen without a crown and keep loosing the big town
I'm the queen of bongo, baby I'm the queen of bongo-bong.

Than I listen to the song from the movie: "Satellite" by Guster ... and I love it...
Than I thought how Lisa would look like dressed like my own spiritual daughter LunaStarshine ... and I love it...

Don?t mind the messy telescopes - its just a half hour scetch.  :D

Sorry for not doing something for the Futurama vs. Simpson contest... but I don?t have the inspiration to finish my picture. :(

Besides this, I am working on something on double size paper (painting size), non-Simpsons, something from my novel 'Belial', took me 10 hours and I am only done with the outlines. If anyone is interisted... :)

My personal to draw list:

  • Lisa Simpson - You?re my satellite
  • Sarah from my novel 'Belial'
  • Comission, G.H.?s women
  • Lisa Simpson & Milhouse - Summer wine

Your last picture is very well done, Lisa does remind me of your Luna character very much here. However I agree that it cries for some coloring. You have a natural tendency to make pictures come alive through use of your colors.

Well, matter of fact, its women, cause there are a bunch of scribbles of her on the sheet. :)
The picture can sure take while (working almost on all stuff at the same time) - but you don?t have a deadline after all. btw, is it okay if I ask who she is (nice asian touch)? The girl that used to be with you, right? I can see why you want me to draw her... I love personal pictures! :)

Yes, she was with me for a time. Her name is Amanda Packer... she is, hands down, the most beautiful girl I've ever known (and I guess she does look a bit Asian, doesn't she?). But she's gone now. I wanted this drawing done as an homage to her memory, and I selected you because I knew you'd be able to do it justice.

Okay, here is the reason for my absence in the Futurama-Simpsons contest... I know it is not a good apology and it?s true I had not much time - but you know, if you have inspiration, you cannot force yourselfe to something else.

This picture is drawn on large paper, twice the size of paper I usually use. So it has more details and freespace. :)
Its a scene from my novel "Belial" and it is actually dark night (not knight :P) - it?s a romantic scene between two main characters in the novel - you see it from the point of view of the man.

Shading follows the next weeks...

Enjoy.

Astonishing! I didn't expect you evolved so much your skills in the figure drawign realm, the woman looks gorgeous, beautiful, and perfectly shaped. HEr face is feminine but kind of... rough too, very interesting and attractive. The background is chock full of wonderful lively deails, both in the foreground and in the background...

This is a Major piece of artwork you have here.  I concur with marco.  Your improvement on the human figure is astonishing.  Great, great work.   There are no flaws as far as I can see, well, probably only her right hand, but I'm being picky.  The BG is amazingly detailed too.   Congratulations on a pic like this and I can't wait to see it colored.   Thanks for showing this to us , Frank!

Those fingers creep me out.

Her body curves are excellent, and so is the background, very detailed. Her nose looks a tad wierd, but that'll work itself out with shading, I think.

Her lips look big. It's probably not by much, but to me it looks like they are one or two sizes too large.

But the hands really are the major flaw in this otherwise excellent picture. Looking at them separatly, her right one seems to have very little "hand" and mostly "fingers". Somewhat looks like an old woman's long, thin fingers. The thumb looks more like a 5th finger, not a thumb. Looking at her left hand, it's better, but the proportions are still off.

By comparing the two hands, you see noticable difference that you possible cannot be satisfied with.

I won't lie if I say that this picture is wonderful. :) The girl has an interesting "wondering" look, nice job with her eyes and lips... the same about folds on her clothes, very believable. It's a bit unusual to see a pencil-shaded picture from you (decided to follow Shanownait's example, huh? ;)), but it only makes it better and hides small mistakes. Great job with the background, too!

A little eye candy for the boys, eh? ;)

Technically the picture is really well done. It's got that vibrant coloring that always seems to make your pictures come alive. I like the fire/ice comparison too - and of course the Katy Perry reference. :P

:marge:: "Boys, Lisa! Girls kiss Boys!" ;)

Very impressive indeed. I like the vibrant colors in particular, and the difference between fire and ice is shown very well, also on the characters themselves. Does Mars have anything to do with the picture, or did you just think it would make a nice background?

Actually, this picture was drawn for a girl I know. She loves women, you know. ;)

I was just to lazy drawing a earth structure. You impress me with your talent to recognize Mars surface. :D :D :D *rolling on the floor for almost a minute.
