Lisa, the Simpson!

Well, this is it… After two weeks, I finally finished my first fan-art pic. I has drawn it using a Photoshop and cheap pen tablet “Genius G-Pen 340”, and I have to say, that it was very difficult to me. It’s a first time I decided to draw a female’s body, so… don’t blame me to much for disproportions or some else mistakes – I’ve no idea about artists methods of drawing people.

The idea to draw Lisa was borned after watching the last episode of 19th season “All about Lisa”. There was scene, where Lisa removes her beads and gives the pearl braid to Krusty. And I found this little girl without her beads too cute for her age… So I wanted to draw adult Lisa removing her beads. First of all, i want to say that i’m not some kind of pervert or maniac (for the God’s sake), i just have a little unusual imagination and a free time to realize my ideas – i’m FAN! =)
So after I said that, i don’t care if you think something bad about me. This is… well, I think you’ll comment this better than me =) - i still have some problems with eng. language.

Well, for now i know, how pleasant to feel, when you finishing your picture, when you show it to other people, who might be interested by this art. I feel GREAT myself: i’ve made my first picture, and, i think, i’ve made it good for a first time.

Okay, first, let's get the unpleasant things done:
I'm sorry MatrixDLL, i removed the second link because i didnt think it was appropriate.
TO EVERYONE INTERESTED: The link was the same pic as the opening, but with see-through dress. If you're interested you're free to contact the artist for the link, i don't think i should leave it here, it's quite borderline material. No hard feelings for anyone, ok? :) Just trying to keep the problems to a minimum.

As for the normal comment:
If this is your first pic, well, i can just say i'm very impressed. It's not your usual "first time" picture: the pose is complex, the proportions are a bit on the "long limbs" side but still they are respecting the basic rules, the detail in Lisa's hair are good and Lisa's expression is very interesting. The background while it's sketchy it's also inventive, perfect for the bluesy mood. The shading on Lisa is veyr well done, gives out the volumes and strong contrast of lightning very well. All in all, it's an impressive first pic, it conveys a very "sax in the city" mood, as i think you intended. :)

One point is all about Lisa's pose. It's true that it makes her look sexy, but it's also quite unconfortable and it looks a bit weird for her to be in such stance (even if she's kneeling on something, it's a rather weird way to kneel ;) ). Also there's not a real sense of purpose in her left arm bent like that: instead the right arm is very well done in the act of taking the pearls off.

All in all, impressive first picture... a bit borderline and maybe it will spawn some controversy, but i givem y thumbs up and i hope to see more from you. Next time though before postign something that might be "questionable" please contact me or Dagdamor. I hope you understand :) Again, great job.

Man, i hate this "multilanguage" problem of humanity!

One reason I love this site, the multinational aspect... though sometimes gets us in to trouble , but mostly a great blessing to know people all round the world. I have a gaming site which has members from USA, all of europe, middle east and south american regeon. This is the first site I have had pleasure of having that + having friends in russian countries too!

Anyway. Your pic I find extremely interesting. It is extremely impressive the way you have mixed the simple "plan like" inverted colour background with the great shading on Lisa. Lisa as an adult is always an interesting subject and I have no problem with this kind of picture as an adult, the way you have drawn it is pravocative, yet subtle and dignified.

I will also agree with Marco (SimpReal) that the pose looks strange, ir looks like she is balancing uncomfortably on the corner of the bed, and that she may fall backwards The arm folded behind her looks wierd, that arm could of been put to better use to make the picture look more natural.

Otherwise from these 2 minor thinks a fantastic drawing that you should be proud of!

Well, i finally have finished my second pic. But before watching, i just want to give you a little part of sadness, which was my energy while drawing. I want you to watch this picture with right mood.
Idea, as always, became, when i listened again wonderful music “Samuel_barber_-_ adagio_for_strings”.

And the last request: READ before WATCH! I’ve written a small story for this pic…
I extremely apologize, if you find something incorrect or too pathos in it. I’m not a good writer, you know. And i really not fully satisfied with original (rus.) version of  this fic. So i even can’t imagine, how bad i’ve translated it in english…

One awful night Lisa has seen the terrible dream. About a Judgment day.
This day, at last, has come, and crimson heavens have fallen on the earth …
… She became one of those who should judge people for their mortal sins … Then she sees some kind of precipice, a bottomless pit. She falls, but in one moment waves her wings and here, she appears in the street before the house. She sees Homer who is coming back from work for some reason on foot. Lisa looks at him, and the white veil does not descend from her pupils, leaving from them only thin halo framing this emptiness.
She approaches to Homer. He smiling looks at the daughter and as though wishes to ask something her… Or to tell «I love you, my angel»… But he speaks nothing. He does not see neither her wings, nor frightening emptiness in her eyes.
-Daddy?..
At the moment Lisa suddenly starts to speak silent, quiet, but a clear voice:
-Homer Jay Simpson, you had made a mortal sin. But you hadn’t repent, despite of that you had been continuing to sin all remained life… You will pay for it, and your soul will be the price.
-Lisa, sweetheart… What are you talking about?!
Suddenly she waves wings, straightening them in all beauty, lifts hands to heavens. Homer has begun to see all clearly: he falls on knees, looking at the angel with sacred trembling, not in a condition to say anything.
The sword is embodied before Lisa. She suffices it with both hands and sticks the father right in his heart!
-Burn in hell, sinner.
-Lisa … … my sweet child… … …My angel!..

… She wakes up in the bed. Silence reigns in still impenetrable darkness of her room. «My God, what a terrible nightmare! I’ve killed my father… As if I was possessed!» Lisa closed her face with palms, feeling, how tears are gathering on her eyes.
«I should write down all it!». In few minuets gradually having calmed down and having realized, that all behind, she has risen from a bed, still, nothing seeing in outer darkness of moonless night. She for a second has stopped trying to get used to darkness, has wiped eyes. The darkness has gradually started to dissipate. But she still does not see anything, except a fog which all becomes brighter and more densely. «I… I don’t understand!»
Lisa suddenly starts to hear voices… From above. She looks at the sky and sees the golden clouds smoothly rising from a crimson fog… She hears sounds of war. It’s army of winged warriors of heavens battles to hell demons. Poorly distinguishable, shining with divine light, angels are moving incredibly fast, similar to stars, with each new collision blowing up with new waves of intolerably bright light.
In the confusion, blinded Lisa wildly looks around, but she does not find anything, except a foggy silhouette of her house in the distance… And a sword near with her feet… all in blood! The scarlet stream flows somewhere in a fog . There, where the streamlet comes to an end, is the silhouette gradually appears.
«Father?»
Lisa, shocked with own assumption, slowly approaches to a lifeless body.
«Daddy?!»
Lisa has concerned his hand and, having felt an ice cold, in horror has stepped aside from the dead person …

«Dad! Daddy!!! Why? My God, WHY!?!»… She sobs, kneeling from a hopelessness, not understanding anything. Mad, cruel, but such close to her heart world has fallen suddenly! Everything, what she lived with all this time – it’s gone! Everything has gone!
«My God! Where is everybody? My mum, the brother, my little sister?» She cries, she shouts, but does not hear her own. She cries louder if only to hear own voice …



…A wild long shout with echo disturbed all house. Marge and Homer run in a room shined with a soft moonlight. They see Lisa sitting on bed, shivering with all body and silently crying, having closed the face with palms.
-Lisa, sweetie, what’s happened?
Having heard a mum's voice, Lisa has sharply turned back and has ran to parents. Having embraced both, she, stammering and sniffing, has quickly started talking:
-Mum, da- daddy! I so love you! I love you very much! I…
And with new force has begun to sob, resting against a mum's night dress. Homer all tried to calm the daughter: «It was simply a dream, honey! All has passed… We love you too very much».
Poor Marge… Her heart from one view of the tear-stained daughter was compressed. She has told …
-My sunshine, be not afraid, we won’t ever leave you!
…as more as possible calming voice.
-Now let’s go, dear. You will have a sleep in our bedroom today»
Until Lisa has not fallen asleep, she all thought how often people forget about the relatives and do not appreciate that precious time spent near to them. Having looked once again on sleeping parents and having smiled how Homer funny snores, she has definitively calmed down and closed eyes …
… And she saw the wonderful dream about riding a white horse with father on a glade covered with green spring grass, and the bright Sun shines all plain, which as infinite as her happiness.

Despite the language difficulties I have to say, this was pretty darned good. I could imagine Lisa being chosen to deal out someone's fate on the final day, and it's appropriate because she would take no pleasure in doing so and consequently would be a fair judge. How cruel is it that she is forced to pass that judgment on her own father? It would be too much for anyone to bear! Which brings me to your picture, a very dynamic scene with poor Homer lying in the foreground.

Everything about Lisa's pose screams 'regret' and her wings are amazingly detailed! You have my respect and admiration because this picture strikes a very deep chord with me. So much emotion is portrayed simply by your choice of colors, content and angle (no, not angel! ;) ) that I can't really do it justice. I love the sky in the background as well, it adds alot of depth to an already fantastic submission.

Like CC, I also love the sky in the background. It's majestic the way you made Heaven shine down on earth. Sorry! Unfortunately, no. My PSP wasn't compatible with your link, but I found something from my own collection to listen to while I read it. Actually, that's a fairly common practice, at least among authors I've spoken with, so I completely agree with your sentiments.:)

THe emotion of the music I personally know all too well.

My grandmother passesd away in 2003. My mother and aunt being so sad were trying to choose music for her funeral. As she or my family wasnt religeous we made up a CD to play at the service. Barber's Adagio For Strings was one. and Pachebel's Canon in D. The last track being from Enya

Both those tracks hold such emotion. And such a beutiful piece aswell. It is a track that ALWAYS brings a tear to the eye and as a person who is not really a classical fan this track is epic in my opinion.

I am not really a fan of trance music either but again this piece both moves me to sadness and lifts me up at the same time. Well, maybe is someone will be interested. I had drawn this sketch at lecture. I made it before my “Judgment day” pic. Nothing special, just practicing.

very nice matrix. You have done a great job with the flowing hair  and colouring. The streams of light soften the picture yet add a powerful element to it and its very well done.

Her face is fantastic.  Looks like she is enjoying the sunlight on her face or the breeze through an open window (or both).

The blurryhess and softness of the background finished off this picture well.

One *minor* gripe is her shoulder line looks a bit strange to me, but thats a small issue :)

Like I said on ISFF: it's a good illustration, matching the story quite well. I hope Graham liked it, CoD didn't have too many illustration (which is unfair...) Yes, there are some differences from the story (for example, rays of light go from somewhere above, it's not a sunrise), but every reader took the story they own way, it's normal. Very nice picture, I feel for Lisa a lot while looking on it.

I'm very glad and proud to see another victim of 'Lisa-obsession', especially when you from rus. too. :) Well, trying to made my thoughts clear...(my translator-program is away from here too, so i can't post too much) Your work with Lisa walking through the streets made my mood improved, really. And her face shining is almost as bright as sun. That's what i like in her so much, is her ability not to lose her heart, and to find always the inner forces to rise and not to give up. (of course i know and she has her own depressions and breakdowns). I like how you have drew her face again. Its very cheerful and full of good expectations. Um, guys… Remember that episode from earlier seasons, where the whole school was writing a test, and Lisa’s result was “a homemaker”? I have recollected it recently… So, here’s my result. =)

Lisa… She’s reading some book, resting of home works in rainy day... Lisa… Married, grown-up… (who could be that lucky bastard? ;P)
Lisa… She looks calmed & pretty in face… but a storm, a whirlwind of fire inside… Lovely housewife and sexy mommy =)… Just like Marge!

I know… Many of you, dear Lisafans, would prefer to see the future Lisa in absolutely another way. But let me explain: Marge in her youth had many of dreams & hobbies too (ballet, becoming a famous artist, for example). But she became a housewife because of an obvious and really stupid reason =)
So i hope, you’ll understand me & i hope you like this one…

P.S.: just imagine, how it will be, if the next time she’ll look directly at you with these bottomless blue eyes…  ‘^^)

Sorry Matrix, i didn't see this picture before now! A Simpsons - GitS spinoff parody is just what was missing from my catalog of weird but successful Simpson spinoff pics :D It's awesome, the lightning especially sets the scene alive! The Bart-bot is highly impressive ,as it is the detail of Lisa/Kusanagi suit and the visor. Awesome is the only thing i can say, i'll keep this in my favorites folder definitely.

Great classy touch about the master of puppets character choice too. If i can say *one* thing that's not completely perfect about the picture, is Lisa's mouth. It's a bit off the canonical model, but it's hard to draw the overbite with such perspective. :)

Simply amazing, especially "About a Judgment day". I nearly was moved to tears. You have an extreme potential, that necessarily should be used - as you are doing it - great! The Judgment day is very expressive, you can easy intergrate yourself in the story and feel like Lisa feels herself in that situation. The Soundtrack, the drawing and the story - simply a perfect combination.  :)
You should know that I don't know enough words in English to explain how I feel on (with?) those drawing.  :red:

Anyway I can only hope to see more of your creation.

Actually, this is not exactly sample of asian lyrics. But it will set the right mood for watching (“flying”, “to far and mysterious lands”, “dark-blue sky”, “sand… lot of sand”, “mysterious beauty of unknown person”) – yep, these words should make to describe my feelings :)

I like your Lisa on the second one especially (don't want even think about such a destiny for her [to non-english speakers: "Zek" = "prisoner" in Russian]), her appearance and expression are very believable, but I'd prefer to think she's just walking around in unusual outfit, looking at autumn around, at falling leaves, maybe under the rain, and thinking about something very private.

It took (im not sure) about 30-60 min, so... you had seen in accelerated mode ;)

UPD: according to chat log, it had taken almost 30 min.

Checked the WPE version... why you didn't say it had one more version of Lisa which was erased in the final version :) You both did a very impressive job. But I was especially surprized that Gustavo has constructed the outlines first, then colored the picture, then erased all outlines and redrew them practically from scratch, and using different color :) both picture look even better for me now, thanks for sharing!

yep ...I usually used similar construction techniques .... I'm very bad drawing on the computer ... I prefer the paper and the normal pencils ...

this is just a theme of experimentation with the colors, first I create a mental projection (or ideal) of the drawing, and then attempt emulation of the idea on paper ... I can not always achieve a perfect emulation, and I need to make changes ....(or delete the lines in this example)

This greatly modifies the design and the main theme of a pic, but it allows more creative and expressive deployment .. But you lose fidelity to the original idea ...

Martin's style is different because my friend  can translate their ideas into the computer without difficulty, I have reviewed and studied the techniques of drawing of my friend too ... and I've learned a lot ... But Martin has details that I can't imitate or emulate ... (I tried.. but is impossible in this moment) ;)

I love the meetings drawing or the cooperative work.. this are events perfect to the study of our skills...anyway I am curious... other members too draw in the server of OC? ....

Well, let’s start from describing first two scribbles i drew a couple of days ago, which i, honestly, was afraid to post with no more or less finished picture (which is waiting you below list).
First one made on one of those boring lections at college. Sorry for terrible quality – all because of blunt “HB” pencil.
Second one is just attempting to play with watercolor on OC.
Anyway, maybe someone might be interested with this stuff. =?

Ok, now some words about finished picture. I had a desire (which comes to my mind with suspicious frequency :red:) to draw Lisa in her teen ages. I posted here two versions: first one with simple “gradient” background. Second one looks a little weird (nothing special… was trying to play with PS layer effects).

all my attention has been focused on blue eyes of Lisa in your last picture  :eek:.... The expression is very intense, and for some reason, I have reminded at a women in my past which had the same expression naughty and sweet  :love: :p ...

I can not really add much technically, the details and proportion of the body are common and well-made ... and pencil in the ear is very beautiful and the effects in the gamma color are correct and nices  :)

Ok, now what should i say about this one? Afterall, i think that you’ll find my comment a little weird and stupid in any case. So i'll just start...
This picture (workname is “Go to the light”) is unfinished illustration to even more unfinished fan-fic, which i started to write yesterday. Have interesting ideas for it, but, (i'm saying this with terribly sadness) have no skills of writer, thus have no way to realize most of them in words. =( And inspiration with sad mood for makin’ it runs out of my mind with terrific speed. =((

Considering those pity facts, there’s about 20% of chance to finish it (in this moment i have an eternal wish to make this fiction, but i really don’t want to make some low-level crap).

I like these pictures a lot. :love: Lights and shadows are very good in my opinion.
With the music, the picture is almost scary. By the way, what is the name of the music?

You can punctiliously see the yellow "curls" spreading out of her fingers and on that letter.
I think you will finish those story (in one way you have to :D) - they are hidden abilities in everyone, you just have to unfold them.

This is a very scary, but fantastic picture, matrixdll! Wings and role of an angel suit Lisa, as well as crying so bad after being a weapon in God's hands.

Lisa doesn’t need to have wings… to fly away, to find herself in your dreams!.. To find her own dream between the stars, little bright fire-flies…. In dreams they are stayin’ small, even if to get closer to them…
And darkness… Darkness of the night - is the best canvas to express the dreams by paint blots, so small for a big world… but so bright and beautiful for one or two persons…

The picture “No wings!” is result of watching of inspiring art gallery of my favorite Lisa-artist =) and listening the bright and colorful song “Star guitar” (by Chemical brothers). Although, i know, this is not the best example of their creativity, but still… this is, imho, very good song - definitely sets the right mood for watching the last picture, posted here.

Seriously, it's a wonderful piece of art, and you did a good job creating that "land of dreams" sensation. BTW, how many lights are there? The moon behind Lisa, another planet/star behind or above the viewer that causes the illumination on the top, and... one more source of blue light right behind Lisa? Does someone track her with a searchlight down there? ;)

1. The perspective is great even the "perspective deformation". The shadow play and white and black colours and those candles dislocate it in a sable ambience. A nice detail is the pentacle and a picture of a lighthouse...

2. Also here your shadow play successed.

3. Nothing more too say here too, beside that it looks very cute.  :)

4. Yes, this drawing, I think, makes everyone smile. She looks very free and jolly. The moonshine, which change her dress - and her skin colour looks realistic. The stars are there but they aren't rushing into the foreground. When I look into it, I stare into it - through the beatitude it captivates me entirely. It bestow a warm feeling on my heart. Fully agree with the statement: She dosn't need to have wings - to be our angel. Thanks matrixdll, it's truthfully a masterpiece.

She’s not the angel… She is a goddess!!! And we… Well, i can say without any doubts only for myself, not for others…

Inspired by (once againg) watching Gustavo’s gallery and… memories about the atmosphere of “Pathologic” – the most unusual (in themes of plot, atmosphere and graphic style) game i ever watched (original release is called “Мор. Утопия”).

Here are two audio-samples of its terrific OST.

First associations are: very deep autumn, mix of brown, yellow and ochre colors, maybe emptiness… You're really should find that game to understand it! ...or better say, FEEL IT!?

One of the most unusual looks at the "worship Lisa" subject... and raises so many questions in me. Why she doesn't see anything? Why you have to wear masks? Why it's noticeable that the distance between goddess and her "slaves" is large, but they are still able to hold her hand?
Maybe I'm too close to real world to understand such allusions, maybe the picture has its faults too. But I liked it anyway, it's very surreal but not random, it's done very well.

Amazing work! She looks really celestial. And that her fluorescence is one of the best parts in this work. I don't know why the earth-walkers are shown with the masks. Maybe because their true faces are too graceless? Or maybe it's because they think so on their own? And the real faces isn't so ugly.

Again it has the dark atmosphere and the main heroine is like a shining shrine. And maybe it's sad, because from then she becomes just a thing to worship, not a person. And maybe I'll prefer not to be amongst the adorers, eh? But to be somewhere aside, somewhere in the dark that surrounds her, looking with an interest at this dramatic scene?

She looks like a divinity, especially due to her "eyes" and the saying in the right lower corner... We ... the brothers! It looks like she is dispensing comfort to those "humans"... I can even hear their lamentations.

But for this specific person most of these people are no more than models, moulages, decorations. For actor decorations exist only to make him look more contrast and expressive for spectators… Uh, i think im just telling too much about nothing, sorry I wont bother you for more of this abstract bosh =/
I only tell that inspiration came after rewatching the “Spirited away” movie.

a shifting… a shifting to time and place where the idea of spiky hair girl only had started to form by unknown forces… To form and wait for a genius to transmit the knowledge about it, thus he could, um, born or bring it to our world (at least in the cartoon form :))

"Come With Me" is the most unusual here, probably, I love that you pictured Lisa grinning like this - shows her emotions very well, like she's nearly crazy in her excitement. Great job with picturing her dragging artist's clothes! I can't stop the feeling in those are parts of mine (although my shirt is black.) Also, it's a good move that you pictured your hands as realistic ones, but turned them that way so you cannot count the fingers. ;) Doesn't emphasize on the differences between you and that girl.

I still have no words to explain my feelings when I look at "Music Addict" one. I don't know how you did that :) but it's fantastic, makes me wanna see it again and again. Not to offend other artists, but that's one of the most positive and cheerful Lisa pictures I've seen. Despite her deformed arms. :D *is kicked* Good job with the background too, although it doesn't add something unique to the picture, Lisa would look as wonderful without it IMHO, it's still there, it shows two different layers, makes the whole picture look 3D, adds volume to it. Fantastic drawing.
