Title: Review an album Post by: G.H. on September 08, 2008, 15:59 Well the title says it all, basically this thread is for you to come and post what you think about a specific album by a specific artist... flaming, praising, worshiping, and bashing of artists, all to be done here. :P
I'll start with the album I'm listening to now, Brooks & Dunn's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooks_and_Dunn) "Steers & Stripes" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steers_%26_Stripes). Title: Steers & Stripes Artist: Brooks & Dunn Genre: Country/Rock My Overall Rating: 4.7/5.0 I've had this album for a long time, and it has never bored me. Somehow listening to it reminds me of autumn, though I don't know why, it's just a feeling I get. I can't find much to critique about it musically, really, it's probably one of my favorite albums of all time. Each song seems to sync together perfectly, the tracks flow smoothly between upbeat rockers and slow ballads. There's a lovely balance of instruments, with guitar-based rock-outs like "Good Girls Go To Heaven", "See Jane Dance", and "Ain't Nothin' Bout You", requiems for lost love like "The Long Goodbye" and "When She's Gone, She's Gone", and melodic pieces using unconventional instruments like "Unloved". I know most people on this forum aren't really big on country music, but if you want to try experimenting in a different genre, I strongly recommend this as a starting point. |
