Lisa, the Simpson!

I thought  I'd start fresh :gigi:
and okay it's like...4 months, nearly 5 months into 2008 and I'm only just starting this XD but I do have some arts I'd like to post :)
and I would really appreciate some feedback, especially on how I could improve my pictures tone wise since my art teacher is forever moaning on at me about tone D:
Anyway, lets begin! :)

First off this was my 1st idea for the LTS con which I decided to draw out anyway...I think I like it more plot wise but I decided not to enter it in the end and stick with my first design...whether this was a mistake, I'm not sure...but most of my friends felt the first picture was better..*shrugs* but here is it anyway...

To be honest I havnt drawn much so far this year but I hope by starting this topic it will remind me to scan more stuff in!
or at least get photos of the art I am currently working on for school which was dragons and now is angels :P Been fun stuff, even if it was stressful! x_x

ohhhh this "metal dinosaur" is familiar..... maybe is BART .. ohh GOD is Bart simpson.. the armagedon is today!  :gigi: .. my poor elemantary school... the city is a disaster... :) fire and death in each corner...

I do like this picture. It has a lot of 'youth' detailed into it :) A very Bart kinda picture!

I'll stand by my desicion that your Lisa picture was the better picture to enter for the LisaCon, as it looked more profesional and elegant. Whether the others agree, would be interesting to find out.

I do like how you've used pencil colours to bring this picture to life, I think Bart would be happy with it. :)

My vote would have probably been 6/10. Both 6/10 for Technical and Story.

I love your drawings, they always have a great charm and a good story behind them, you manage to fit a lot into the picture without making it too cluttered, so you notice things when you look back on it again.

I really wish I could have your skill and imagination. Nowadays i need to look really hard for something to imspire me, but you produce every time :)

has the Lisa pic Casper mentioned been posted, sorry if it has but lack of time means i am slowly getting through reading, viewing, thinking and then writing replys. Would love to see it.

Just an update, I have about a week or so till my art exam so, will probably update this with photos of my A2 work once it's all done :) If not, will be after the end of year art show ^_^

Now that's a picture straight out of Bart's daydreams. ^^ Spot on.

It's fun to watch, feels pretty detailed and all that. The coloring makes the picture a bit warm, and all the chaos going on around it makes it flaming hot. Very cute. :d

I'm gonna go with Casper, despite being a good picture, I still like the one you entered for LisaCon better, at least storywise. This isn't a bad idea, but... uh forget it, not gonna be able to justify saying that your other picture was better storywise, I just like it better. :P

It's great, complex and funny. Also, I like crayons. About the plot - I suspect where is real Bart somewhere, laughing in the evil manner and managing the remote. :D Poor bot finally has realized his fantasies...

lol yer, I found it weird trying to make sense of it, so I decided not to. :X I'd probably have given the Bart picture the same score, or perhaps even one point higher. Just had another look and it makes sense now.
Story-wise I like the Lisa picture a little bit better, technically I like the Bart picture better than the Lisa picture which I technically like better than the Bart picture. Guh... o_O Anyway, the above quote probably explains why it was hard to decide. Glad I figured that out. Now instead what doesn't make sense is WHY I couldn't figure that out before... Apparently something is still wrong. This is what I get for trying to arrange my thoughts! -.-

About the only think which bothers me with this picture is the fact it's coloured with colouring pencils. They so rarely give the best final result (though you've managed to do an impressive job with them on the fire reflections and the green eye, so maybe I should just shut my mouth...).

I *love* the idea and the expressions and the little details like the shooting and skinner dieing though. :D

I do like the fac that it's been colored with pencils. It just makes me admire the artist's willforce for anything :D i'd never have the guts to pencil color such a huge and complex picture :)

Talkign aobut the picture itself, it's marvellous and i'm usre that if you submitted this to Lisacon your votes wouldn't have changed much cause even if it lacks Lisa or cuteness or unicorns :p it's still a mind blowing pic, really funny, full of detail, well drawn. Bart looks kickass in his attire and its definitely something he'd choose ;) The fight of King-Kong ian memory is well represented, again full of little details... it's something that i'd see without problems on the cover of one of the official Bart Simpsons comics. :)

DB -Aw, I tend to use colouring pencils often though , they're quick, easy and generally great to use imo :P but then again it's one of the tools I've had most practise in throughout my life so far ;) Anyway, thank you :), I appreciate you picked up on some of the details I included :) Thanks again! ^_^

Colouring Pencil Fans, UNITE! :gigi: Besides, Killing robots and machines/creatures can easily defeat Lisa any day :P *is hunted down by Lisa fans* D: ahhh! :eek:, I shall make up to you guys, I swear!...*Lisa fans put down their weapons* :D ...*Ahem*, anyway, overall I was pleased with both my entries which was why I had such difficulty in deciding which one to use.  Thanks for the reassurance though Marco :) and all of you really ^_^







Anyway, time for something new I guess
as I said been working on a lot of school art recently, and well, exams are here now, it's 15 hours (5 hours a day) and today was my first day...it's not finished, and unfortunately I don't have a brilliant picture of it, but here is my final piece for my exam so far :)
As I said, angel themed :) Although it's not featured, an awful lot of prep went into this which, once after all is marked and put up for show, I shall upload here ^_^

Oh and reason it's wonky is its very wide, on a big role of watercolour paper, and I couldn't fit everything in >_<

Ah well, I shall upload a picture tomorrow, and Friday (final day) to show my development of this too :) Hopefully should be in a better quality too....well..hope y'all enjoy for now :)

impressive piece of art ... composition and subject is enigmatic .... without the color range is very sober .... beam used wisely tones green ... there are still details to improve .. however, is a striking painting .. is a art with a lot of life and peace...

Don't care much for this kind of art (awesome way to open a review! ^^), seems great so far though. That is to say it looks like kind of a generic one-of-those paintings. :P Which is probably good for whatever my thought's worth, if I can't tell what makes other great artists paintings better than yours, maybe you're doing something right... but them geeky art professors will go on about the aesthetics, something I can't say a word about, because I don't see much of it in any of these... things. =d You're totally offended by this right now!

On a lighter note, I could go for some of that funky cubism! :gigi:

You're a shoe-in in any case, you'll win this contest pass the exams for sure. (= Or you won't. Guess that's what the fuss is about. Stop reading my comments.

Kasper - Weelll, everyone has different tastes :P The sort of art I do at my school is "Fine Art" anyway, I would rather do something more cartoony, obviously :P But, so far I've enjoyed painting it! :)



Here's an update, bought a proper camera with me this time, managed to get a bit of a better quality picture but still couldn't fit all of it in >_<

I feel I've improved with the colours more :P Just 5 hours to go in "perfecting" it!

I'm in hysterics! Haha, I'm happy/sad in a weird way cos in some ways I'm gonna miss it but then after 15 hours of painting, I'm so releaved to have it all done :D

I got a picture of my friend holding it up but unfortunatly, I forgot the camera >_< Again, so used my phone ...again...
so it's the best I could get...it prob doesn't look like it's changed all that much but I added a LOT more detail and texture into the wings :)
Should probably shower right now cos I'm still covered in paint :gigi:

You have an AWESOME talent. I have seen the stuff you have posted on here before and I have been impressed but now this is a totally different league..... what a stunningly beautiful piece. The colours look fantastic, and I bet the camera does not do that justice.

The size of the picture is impressive too. I remember my Art work was big but never that big.... sadly all the stuff I did for my when I was at school was destroyed in fire. Luckily I walked away with an A lol. Shame I cant post my stuff. This totally rips apart the stuff I did to get an A.....  :love:

the last version of your picture allows the viewer to discover the symbolism of the image ... , It would be nice to have a full size version of the same ... :star:

Okay I have been busy though, with exams/revision and such so, have not been able to scan for AGES..however, tbh anything I've done offline has been pretty crappy anyway :P
However, over the past month or so, I've been practicing with digital painting with my friend and one of the student art teachers :) Let's just call him Mr.K :P Anyway, been having help with him and photoshop,tablet stuff and have attempted to overcome "painting" digitaly, sooo no lineart involved as such like I usually do! :o!! So, this was a challenge, but I feel I've done well. Just used a simple sketch of Bastet though....

Unfortunately, never got to finish it, and the latest version/s he's got since he accidently cut and paste them from my laptop rather than copy! >_< So, for now I'm just gonna post an example from before this Tuesday when I had only just started blending everything together ^_^
I know it's not brilliant but it shall do for now :D This is mostly just to prove I HAVE been drawing and working :)

That is really good......... I am impressed. You have done a fantastic job so far. Really cannot wait to see a later version

I always admire digital painting..... its something I have not been able to master myself, well not yet anyway. So kudos to you!

is a pic with a good performance in terms of technical and creativity  :star: ... I think that the contour's lines need some adjustments ... However the result is extremely pleasing to the eyes, the color gamma is warm (shades of yellow in the background and in the character) ... :) ... thanks by post your art

This is really impressive. It's a far cry from the penciled sketches I'm used to seeing from you, but that's not a bad thing - an artist should be free to explore different styles, and I think this particular one makes for some beautiful art. Not much else to say, nice job here, especially on the eyes... the green and pupils really seem to stand out.

Your drawings belongs to the number of pictures that I like no matter what's drawn on them. :) I myself didn't draw for a long time (the scribbles is not counted). So I think I'll never give a 'professional' look at yours, at least not this time. What's evident first of all when I look at your work - it's full of life and movement. Her pose is plastic though also static, but the natural flexibility and grace of lioness-teenager makes the whole pic rather dynamical (what the delirium I speak :/ ) And we see all the things that are characteristic lines of all your works.

It's looking great, although there's something wrong with his (her? I tend to forget Bastet's gender, if it's female, next time draw her with eyelashes please ;)) forefeet. The right one looks like made from two different pieces, and the left one looks... unfinished. Everything else looks much better, his head/face especially :) like others, I like Bastet's eyes! His fur is very well done, too.

I like this new version a lot, Rachel, especially the texture on the fur and the crazy "hair" :D The eyes are my second favourite part, athough i agree on Dag in that the feet might need a bit of a fix up. :)

But just wanted to say thanks to all of you for the kind words :) I'm glad to know you like my art even if you have little to say towards it, I don't mind at all since I'm the same myself when trying to comment others ^_^;
However just wanted to add Bastet's legs in V.8 where changed by me fafter recommendations of Mr K (teacher), since apparently the animal anatomy was wrong :P sooo err... after all those hours trying to change it I think I'll leave it as it is now X)
Oh and btw I will let you all know now, Bastet is a GIRL ;) Hehe

Anyway :), the art show at my school has been and gone :D
Basically for those who don't know I'll fill you all in :)
I have recently just finished working on my A2 Level art at school :) It was my last year on this 2 year ("sixth form") Course and we all got the chance to display our work on show at my school. Soo I now have some decent pictures of some of my work :) Not all could fit on the display board though.  However I got most of what I wanted up including my exam final piece (the angels), and my specialists project - the long dragon painting

I'm exceptionally impressed. Really, it all looks excellent. Whatever you're doing here, keep doing it :)

those are abosolutely fantastic. Really love your choice od colours in them + the shading on pencil sketches is spot on..... te long dragon painting is amazing aswell as the exam piece...

Agreed, those are simply fantastic. Different styles, different objects, both black/white shaded and colored pictures... I suppose all those miracles are normal thing for art university, but for me they are still miracles I will be never able to do :) Thanks for sharing! Nice avvy, too.

Having seen them in person... its quite hard to imagine how big some of those works of art really are...
Its amazing how much detail is put into it even close up, its a shame that this photo is the best quality picture of it online.

Apologies for my lateness, but I feel your last post deserves acknowledgement.

This is, again, a different kind of art than what I'm used to from you, and it looks fantastic. The sketches are considerably more detailed and refined than your usual work (which is still good, it just has a rushed look to it sometimes). I hope you received good marks for these; you deserve it.

I HAVE been drawing this year and scanned things in slowly every now and again though there's hardly been anything I've liked this year that I've done in all honesty :/
but have been going through things, editing sketches etc and will upload a few more now :)

Rainbow Muse - Did this one whilst in Greece when trying to remember as many Muse songs as I could from the top of my head, think I have done rather well and got most of 'em :P I know the perspective is all wrong so, sorry ^_^;...Just practice more than anything which was one of my aims this year, to get better at drawing people and try todevelop some sort of consistent style which...I've more or less failed at x_X In my mind anyway....

Golden Lion - Was bored messing around with my art room's acrylics :) I liked how the colours came out, thankfully the scanners done a good job in not making it all washy...

Blue Gothness - Yes I know the bird's head is too round and he arms too long...was kinda too late to correct these things when I noticed >_<

If You Get It Wrong, She Will Eat you Alive! - Hehe this one has a good story behind it :) Was on request of my classics teacher for the head of the department on our trip to greece. They got her a t-shirt and wanted me to draw them this as a transfer X) She really liked it and thankfully wasn't offended :D

Oriental - Out of all "people" sketches I've been working on, this one turned out the best for me... even if it's a bit small and not coloured as such...

Gothic Emotastic Maggie - Err to make up for lack of Simpson art,..think I went a little over top but I had a 3 hour wait for a history lesson I didn't want to go to, and had lots of pen ink to use up! :D Sooo, went for sketchy detail as usual ^_^; Hope this wont scare too many people off :gigi:

Weeping Angel - Almost forgot!, something I did during class that never really made it into my load of angel artwork for my A level art...still turned out well :) I used whatever I could find lying around :P

Just to also say though, whilst I can, a big apology for being rather pathetic in keeping up with LTS, it's been rather busy on here and especially on my end :red:, so much art and talent to comment on, so little time >_<!
I am also announcing that just over a weeks time now I'm heading off to uni so I don't think you will see much of me here at all from now, I think I should give it a month then come back here and start fresh, and if I'm still busy in that month then...I might just start fresh in the next year....
It just depends on how things go but I will keep in touch on here when I can.
Same for MSN, I've barley been able to really talk to anyone on it...
so although I've got a lot of catching up to do from being busy over this summer, I still have to really focus on getting myself ready and sorted for heading off to Gloucestershire (to do illustration)
Shall miss this place and many of you will be in my thoughts as I wish everyone here the best :) and ofcourse many thanks for the welcomes, feedback and whatnot :P
