Title: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on October 31, 2006, 00:54 Post song lyrics you like here. I'll start with the song I'm accompanying scenes of LF with, Bob Dylan's "Shelter From The Storm".
'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood When darkness was a virtue and the road was full of mud I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." And if I pass this way again, you can rest assured I'll always do my best for her, on that I give my word In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are fighting to be warm. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." Not a word was spoke between us, there was little risk involved Everything up to that point had been left unresolved. Try imagining a place where it's always safe and warm. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." I was burned out from exhaustion, buried in the hail, Poisoned in the bushes an' blown out on the trail, Hunted like a crocodile, ravaged in the corn. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." Suddenly I turned around and she was standin' there With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair. She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." Now the bonds are broken, but they can be retied, With one more journey to the woods, the holes where spirits hide. It's a neverending battle, for a peace that's always torn, "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." Now there's a wall between us, somethin' there's been lost I took too much for granted, got my signals crossed. Just to think that it all began on a long-forgotten morn. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." Well, the deputy walks on hard nails and the preacher rides a mount But nothing really matters much, it's doom alone that counts And the one-eyed undertaker, he blows a futile horn. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." I've heard newborn babies wailin' like a mournin' dove And old men with broken teeth stranded without love. Do I understand your question, man, is it hopeless and forlorn? "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." In a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes I bargained for salvation an' they gave me a lethal dose. I offered up my innocence and got repaid with scorn. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." Well, I'm livin' in a foreign country but I'm bound to cross the line Beauty walks a razor's edge, someday I'll make it mine. If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm." Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Dagdamor on October 31, 2006, 07:43 I've seen these lyrics already, and can only say once again that it's really nice.
And yeah, it fits "Lisa Fitzgerald" story imho... My contribution to this thread is very questionable, because I prefer heavy music. The story is "Child of Darkness", the soundtrack is "A Fallen Star" by Norther. I still think they suit each other. Here is the lyrics... it's rather short, but like with the most of such songs, the music makes up for that. Now there's no denying Veiled in grey no more The time has come to see You've already fallen too deep To rise again, would never be the same Long gone, the days nightfall upon you To rise, to fall, to waste away The blessed can find it all the same Not to see, not to wonder As all is torn asunder Questions never asked, faces forever masked Your fate is to unfold, in places far below A Fallen Star is what you are Forever scarred in heaven A Fallen Star is what you are And you have come so far Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on October 31, 2006, 10:58 IMO, another song that suits COD is Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here" at least, somewhat, anyways.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, Blue skys from pain. Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? And did they get you to trade Your heros for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here I remember the very first script I did, Bartman meets the Blazer, and, to some possible regret, am going to post the song that I think goes well with it. Five for Fighting's "Superman". I can't stand to fly I'm not that naive I'm just out to find The better part of me I'm more than a bird I'm more than a plane More than some pretty face beside a train It's not easy to be me Wish that I could cry Fall upon my knees Find a way to lie About a home I'll never see It may sound absurd but don't be naive- Even Heroes have the right to bleed I may be disturbed but won't you concede? Even Heroes have the right to dream It's not easy to be me Up, up and away: away from me It's all right You can all sleep sound tonight I can't stand to fly I'm not that naive Men weren't meant to ride With clouds between their knees I'm only a man in a silly red sheet Digging for kryptonite on this one way street Only a man in a funny red sheet Looking for special things inside of me It's not easy to be me. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: SimpReal on October 31, 2006, 13:17 With my dedication to music, i'd post hundreds of lyrics in here, but i'll go with one that marked my life someway. It's dedicated to Lisa, and myself, like the picture i drew from it.
Sanctuary, by Conception. Blind eyes search the sky,but try not to reveal Uncertainty behind images dancing on a wall... Each tear a vision, the more you cry you'll learn It's so easy to hide in the dark... The song you know so well encourages to flee... The answer to your tears lingers in colours you can't see Each word a whisper, the more they say you'll find It's so easy to hide in the dark... You won't find the treasure below the rainbows end Black and white are strangers to the pictures of the rain And you meet another day with hasty little lies, When someone laughs you turn away, glad people make you feel unsafe... There's a place where all is sound, where you know you won't be found, where the sun and the moon never shine and it's easy to hide in the dark... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Casper on October 31, 2006, 14:22 This is a good thread idea I think. And some good songs mentioned too :)
As for me, there is only one answer. Peep-hole! When your stars are baked, And your rivers fly, Do you ever believe you were stuck in the... Sky? When your castle breaks, And your feet are dry, Do you ever believe you were stuck in the... Sky?! Do you believe... when you're high... That your life is tried... DONT YOU EVER GET STUCK IN THE SKY! DONT YOU EVER GET STUCK IN THE SKY! Don't ever get stuck in the sky... when you're high... When your moon is fake, And your mermaids cry, Do you ever believe you were stuck in the... Sky? When your tunnel fades, And your guide is shy, Do you ever believe you were stuck in the... Sky?! Do you believe... when you're high... That your life, IS TRIED?!! DONT YOU EVER GET STUCK IN THE SKY! DONT YOU EVER GET STUCK IN THE SKY! Don't ever get stuck in the sky, when you're high, DONT YOU EVER GET STUCK IN THE SKY! DONT YOU EVER GET STUCK IN THE SKY! Don't ever get stuck in the sky, when you're hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-high! DONT YOU EVER GET STUCK IN THE SKY! (repeat 6 times or so) Don't ever get stuck in the sky, when you're high....... -'Peephole', System of a Down It inspired a picture. I bet you cant guess which one... :p Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on October 31, 2006, 14:23 I am not sure why, but this song always pulls me out of the dumps. it is almost 27 minutes long, but danged if it is not worth the download time. this is something that even you might like Serge. :)
I never wanted to become someone like him so secure Content to live each day just like the last I was sure I knew that This was not for me And I wanted so much more Far beyond what I could see So I swore that I'd Never be someone like him So many years have passed Since I proclaimed My independence My mission My aim And my vision So secure Content to live each day like it's my last It's wonderful to know That I could be Something more than I dreamed Far beyond what I could see Still I swear that I'm Missing out this time As far as I could tell There's nothing more I need But still I ask myself Could this be everything Then all I swore That I would never be was now So suddenly The only thing I wanted To become To be someone just like him II. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on October 31, 2006, 14:39 thank God that someone else knows who they are. :) this makes me even more happy. :D
Edit: this song's ending has also really inspired me to continue in my writing. i am working on the ending to it right now, heh unfortunatly the middle is nowhere near done :D Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on November 01, 2006, 11:21 This is the song I was originaly going to put in my LF illustrations, but realized each verse was pretty long. IMO, it perfectly describes the fic, and maybe even Lisa herself.
"Concrete Angel" She walks to school with the lunch she packed Nobody knows what she's holdin' back Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday She hides the bruises with linen and lace The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask It's hard to see the pain behind the mask Bearing the burden of a secret storm Sometimes she wishes she was never born Through the wind and the rain She stands hard as a stone In a world that she can't rise above But her dreams give her wings And she flies to a place where she's loved Concrete angel Somebody cries in the middle of the night The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate When morning comes it'll be too late Through the wind and the rain She stands hard as a stone In a world that she can't rise above But her dreams give her wings And she flies to a place where she's loved Concrete angel A statue stands in a shaded place An angel girl with an upturned face A name is written on a polished rock A broken heart that the world forgot Through the wind and the rain She stands hard as a stone In a world that she can't rise above But her dreams give her wings And she flies to a place where she's loved Concrete angel Concrete angel... I found the love but it didn't last Wonderful days belong to the past I don't know where I stand, what I'm to do Tried to forget and to find someone new So I prayed on my knees to the heaven above Send me somebody please, someone to love To continue my story give me your hand Don't let me down with a heart to be damned So if you see the stars tonight, than tell me what they say And let me know how bright they are, and I will always pray That one day you´ll come down to me, to tell me from above My angel from the universe, the one I always love Come show me your hardcore feelings with your raving meanings Cause I don´t know the way to groove And I´ve never learned to dance this fast And I don´t know the way to move When the beats kicking hard and the beats kicking low Okay, I think that it´s unique But I rather like to dance with you like we did cheek to cheek In my hands I hold your smile And in my heart it runs so wild You are the one you are unique I’m so in love you make me weak And the reason that I feel is like a shadow from a light So if you have the chance to be with me, be my shadow in the night In my hands I hold your smile And in my heart it runs so wild I want you near me night and day And I will love you all the way And the reason that I feel is like a shadow from a light So if you have the chance to be with me, be my shadow in the night :lisa: Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on November 01, 2006, 23:45 Is it just me, or has this turned into a "Who can post the saddest song thread"? Well, to bring it out of that, here's Green Day's "American Idiot" song. [IMO, an awesome song.]
Don't want to be an American idiot. Don't want a nation under the new mania. And can you hear the sound of hysteria? The subliminal mind$%#@ America. Welcome to a new kind of tension. All across the alienation. Where everything isn't meant to be okay. Television dreams of tomorrow. We're not the ones meant to follow. For that's enough to argue. Well maybe I'm the %$&#@! America. I'm not a part of a redneck agenda. Now everybody do the propaganda. And sing along in the age of paranoia. Welcome to a new kind of tension. All across the alienation. Where everything isn't meant to be okay. Television dreams of tomorrow. We're not the ones meant to follow. For that's enough to argue. Don't wanna be an American idiot. One nation controlled by the media. Information age of hysteria. It's calling out to idiot America. Welcome to a new kind of tension. All across the alienation. Where everything isn't meant to be okay. Television dreams of tomorrow. We're not the ones meant to follow. For that's enough to argue. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Suusje on November 02, 2006, 06:56 Is it just me, or has this turned into a "Who can post the saddest song thread"? The song I posted isn't a sad one tunewise, although you wouldn't say that if you've only read the lyrics :pTitle: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on November 02, 2006, 10:53 I was talking about the thread in general.
Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Black_raven on November 02, 2006, 12:46 Hmmm, then maybe I can post some more "cheerfull" song lyrics, something related around Sunshine, lollypops and rainbo- *is shot*
... Okay, I'm not that bad :P Infact what I mostly listen to is quite depressing, However, to balance this thread out, I will post some The Lion King lyrics instead of The Offspring, etc :D Circle of life ( Elton Johns version): From the day we arrive on the planet And blinking, step into the sun There's more to be seen than can ever be seen More to do than can ever be done Some say eat or be eaten Some say live and let live But all are agreed as they join the stampede You should never take more than you give (Chorus) In the Circle of Life It's the wheel of fortune It's the leap of faith It's the band of hope Till we find our place On the path unwinding In the Circle, the Circle of Life Some of us fall by the wayside And some of us soar to the stars And some of us sail through our troubles And some have to live with the scars There's far too much to take in here More to find than can ever be found But the sun rolling high Through the sapphire sky Keeps the great and small on the endless round (Chorus repeats) On the path unwinding In the Circle, the Circle of Life. Reason I post this is 'cos it's a pretty song :) and is quite different to alot of the stuff on my mp3player/computer Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on November 02, 2006, 14:40 Well A.P. the lyrics that I posted were also not sad. Octavarium is 22 minutes long and it switches tempo every few minutes and the end is all instrumental that is really intense. Trust me and find a way to get a copy of this song. You will probably be hooked on the band instantly. :)
Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Casper on November 02, 2006, 19:19 This is my last post in this thread. Even though I know hundreds of songs with (in my opinion) some great lyrics.
This is by far my favurate peicing of lyrics. Written by Corey Taylor for Stone Sour, its about George W. Bush. Can you take away Every single day That we have given to another false prophet? Can you give us all A reason not to fall Before you take away another broken promise? Show your pretty face, Hide the bitter taste, You're still a rapist of an entire nation. You wanna be the man? You gotta be a man. But you are nothing but a sad insinuation. How can we ever live this down? How can we ever live this down? Keep your fingers crossed, The truth is all but lost. Big decision for an ordinary coward. The only problem is You're f*cking rhetoric. We're more in danger than before you took power. Now it's just a game, God, you'll never change. You'll sell us out if you can only find a buyer. You don't give a shit, As long as idiots Are in your corner, you can set us all on fire. How can we ever live this down? How can we ever live this down? You never wanted to be, They only wanted parody. You want the world to be free. What the hell is free about it? Now we've reached the end, Just get it over with. But this is building to an adament conclusion. Come what(ever) may, There's going to be a day, When we have figured out a possible solution. Everything you've done Is killing everyone. A little smile on a homicidal b*stard. You wanna be the man? You gotta have a plan. Another failure is a guaranteed disaster. How can we ever live this down? How can we ever live this down? You never wanted to be, They only wanted a parody. You want the world to be free. You only wanted the world, You never wanted to be. They only wanted a parody. You want the world to be free. What the f*ck is free about it? -'Come What(ever) May' Stone Sour (Sorry for the bad language Lisa... :red:* Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: HyperStrudel on November 03, 2006, 03:36 The only depressing song I know is Learn to be Lonely from the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. :D
Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Dagdamor on November 04, 2006, 02:00 Is it just me, or has this turned into a "Who can post the saddest song thread"? Well, not sure about others, but if you tend to listen to heavy music, be prepared for sad/depressive/angsty lyrics. It's not easy to combine cheerful words with such king of music. ;) To smoothen things a bit, here is a song called "Alive" by P.O.D. The whole "Satellite" album is more... popular than heavy, but I liked it. And the "Alive" song caught me because it explains my feelings towards :lisa: better than anything I've heard so far. Like Homer said once, "I wish I knew what to say... although maybe this music will help?" :) Everyday is a new day I'm thankful for Every breath I take I won't take you for granted So I learn from my mistakes It's beyond my control Sometimes it's best to let go Whatever happens in this lifetime So I trust in love You have given me peace of mind I feel so alive For the very first time I can't deny you I feel so alive For the very first time And I think I can fly Sunshine upon my face A new song for me to sing Tell the world How I feel inside Even though it might cost me everything Now that I know this So beyond, I can't hold this I can never turn my back away Now that I've seen you I can never look away I feel so alive For the very first time I can't deny you I feel so alive For the very first time And I think I can fly Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on November 04, 2006, 02:56 I was looking around for lyrics on the net, and came across this. I think this describes Lisa well. It's pretty short, however.
This is a call to the color-blind This is an IOU I'm stranded behind a horizon line Tried to be something true Yes, I'm grounded Got my wings clipped I'm surrounded (by) All this pavement Guess I'll circle While I'm waiting For my fears to dry Someday I'll fly Someday I'll soar Someday I'll be something much more Cause I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for Why is it not the time? What is there more to learn? I've shed this skin that I've been chipping at And I've never quite returned Yes, I'm grounded Got my wings clipped I'm surrounded (by) All this pavement Guess I'll circle While I'm waiting For my fears to dry Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: D.B. on November 04, 2006, 11:49 I've held of on posting these particular ones, as they make me seem more obsessive than I like to think myself. But on occasions in the past when I've been up to god knows what time with some piece of fanart, agonising over the fact I can't get quite the right tone for the shadows on her dress, they've seemed bitterly appropriate. The song title is even the right colour :p
Vermillion Pt. 2 she seems dressed in all of me, stretched across my shape all the torment and the pain, leaked through and covered me I'd do anything to have her to myself, just to have her for myself now i don't know what to do, don't know what to do when she makes me sad she is everything to me, the unrequited dream a song that no-one sings, the unattainable she's a myth that I have to believe in, all i need to make it real is one more reason i don't know what to do, don't know what to do when she makes me sad but i won't let this build up inside of me catch in my throat, choke, torn into pieces I won't, no I don't want to be this but i won't let this build up inside of me she isn't real I can't make her real Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on November 23, 2006, 18:47 Forgive the bump, I really don't know how long threads have to be dead for, but I have done the deed anyway. Here is my song. I heard it back when i was young, and it represents my life to a "T". I give you "HE" by "Jars of Clay".
Dont try to reach me, Im already dead The pain when it grips me, for things that Ive done Well I try to make you proud, but for crying out loud Just give me a chance to hide away Exhaustion takes over, will this someday be over? Chorus: Fearful tears are running down The pain youve laid dont speak a sound Dont take my heart away from me And they think I fell down Daddy, dont you love me? Then why do you hit me? And momma dont you love me Then why do you hurt me? Well I try to make you proud, but for crying out loud Just give me a chance to hide away Exhaustion takes over, will this someday be over? [chorus] A teardrop falls from up in the heavens Drowning the sorrow of angels on high For the least of the helpless, the hopeless, the loveless My jesus, his children, he holds in his eyes He wants you, He needs you He holds you, He protects you. (Repeated 8x in overlapping vocals) EDIT: A.P. that song is called "Bigger than My Body" by "John Mayer." I showed that one to Daggy a while back saying that it described her more adventurous side. She wants to fly away but she is bound by her own body. I am actually using that song in my current story. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on November 23, 2006, 19:08 Thanks. Yeah, that's why I posted it. Here's another 2 Green Day songs: Holiday, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams. The first one, Holiday, I think it's saying what the world would be like if things get worse. The second one is what describes me, at least IMO. Not knowing whether I'm happy or sad, angry or calm, just some nonexistent thing in-between.
"Holiday" Say, Hey! Hear the sound of the falling rain Coming down like an Armageddon flame (Hey!) The shame The ones who died without a name Hear the dogs howling out of key To a hymn called "Pain and Misery" (Hey!) And bleed, the company lost the war today I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday Hear the drum pounding out of time Another protestor has crossed the line (Hey!) To find, the money's on the other side Can I get another Amen? (Amen!) There's a flag wrapped around a score of men (Hey!) A gag, a plastic bag on a monument I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday (Hey!) (Three Four!) "The representative from California has the floor" Zieg Heil to the president gasman Bombs away is your punishment Pulverize the Eiffel towers Who criticize your government Bang bang goes the broken glass and Kill all the fags that don't agree Trials by fire, setting fire Is not a way that's meant for me Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws yeah! I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives This is our lives on holiday! "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" I walk a lonely road The only one that I have ever known Don't know where it goes But it's home to me and I walk alone I walk this empty street On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams Where the city sleeps and I'm the only one and I walk alone I walk alone I walk alone I walk alone I walk a... My shadow's the only one that walks beside me My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me 'Til then I walk alone Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah I'm walking down the line That divides me somewhere in my mind On the border line Of the edge and where I walk alone Read between the lines What's f****d up and everything's alright Check my vital signs To know I'm still alive and I walk alone I walk alone I walk alone I walk alone I walk a... My shadow's the only one that walks beside me My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me 'Til then I walk alone Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah Ah-ah, Ah-ah I walk alone I walk a... I walk this empty street On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams Where the city sleeps And I'm the only one and I walk a... My shadow's the only one that walks beside me My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me 'Til then I walk alone... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: SimpReal on November 23, 2006, 19:40 INNER SILENCE by Anathema
When the silence beckons And the day draws to a close When the light of your life sighs And love dies in your eyes Only then will I realize What you mean to me. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on November 23, 2006, 23:31 Here's another BD song, I think I might do some simpsons pictures with some lines of this in them, but here's the song:
A Hard Rain Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son? Oh, where have you been, my darling young one? I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains, I've walked and I've crawled on six crooked highways, I've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests, I've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans, I've been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard, And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard, And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son? Oh, what did you see, my darling young one? I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it, I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin', I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin', I saw a white ladder all covered with water, I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken, I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children, And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son? And what did you hear, my darling young one? I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin', Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world, Heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin', Heard ten thousand whisperin' and nobody listenin', Heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin', Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter, Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley, And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. Oh, who did you meet, my blue-eyed son? Who did you meet, my darling young one? I met a young child beside a dead pony, I met a white man who walked a black dog, I met a young woman whose body was burning, I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow, I met one man who was wounded in love, I met another man who was wounded with hatred, And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. Oh, what'll you do now, my blue-eyed son? Oh, what'll you do now, my darling young one? I'm a-goin' back out 'fore the rain starts a-fallin', I'll walk to the depths of the deepest black forest, Where the people are many and their hands are all empty, Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters, Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison, Where the executioner's face is always well hidden, Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten, Where black is the color, where none is the number, And I'll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it, And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it, Then I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin', But I'll know my song well before I start singin', And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on November 24, 2006, 04:49 I have one more that i just heard that makes me think of my story. I try to live it each day and it helps, but anyway, here is a song that makes me think about something that Zeke would sing to adult Maggie.
River Constantine-by Jars of Clay Carry me, Your love is wider than my need could ever be Come to me, and I will walk along Your shore Feel Your crashing waves sing in time with the music of my heart Pour out, come down on me Pour out, come down on me River deep, could I know You as well as You know me Constantine, will we travel faster, farther than these Legs could ever trustworthy be Pour out, come down on me Come down, pour out on me Come down, pour out on me Come down, pour out on me Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Black_raven on November 24, 2006, 09:36 Just wanted to post lyrics myself of 2 songs that have been stuck in my head all week :D
Both of these songs where introduced to me by two of my friends. They are very different but I still have a hard time not singing along to these :p First is "Welcome to the Black parade" by My Chemical Romance introduced to me by a friend at school and I admit that the albums grown on me. It somewhat reminded me of Queen at first and I wasn't suprised to hear that the album was inspired by them as well as The Beatles and Pink Floyd ;) : When I was a young boy, my Father took me into the city, to see a marching band. He said "Son when, you grow up, will you be, the savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned." He said "will you defeat them, your demons and all the non-believers, the plans they have made." Because one day I'll leave you, A phantom to lead you in the summer, To join the black parade." Sometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me. And other times I feel like I should go. Through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets. When you're gone we want you all to know We'll Carry on, We'll Carry on Though your dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And in my heart I cant contain it The anthem wont explain it. and we will send you reeling from decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back Lets shout it loud and clear do you fight it to the end we hear the call to to carry on we'll carry on Though your dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on we'll carry on and though you're broken and defeated you're wiery widow marches on and on we carry through the fears ooh oh ohhhh dissapointed faces of your peers ooh oh ohhhh take a look at me cuz i could not care at all do or die you'll never make me cos the world, will never take my heart though you try, you'll never break me we want it all, we wanna play this part wont explain or say i'm sorry im not ashamed, i'm gonna show my scar Give a cheer for all the broken listen here, because it's only.. i'm just a man, i'm not a hero just a boy, whos meant to sing this song just a man, i'm not a hero i, don't, care carry on we'll carry on Though your dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on you'll carry on and though you're broken and defeated you're wiery widow marches on we'll carry on we'll carry on Then another song that I also find incredibly catchy but is in a totaly different style is "Chop Suey" by System of a Down. Casper introduced me to SOAD's stuff a while back. It took me a while to catch on though, like with most bands, but some of their songs really grew on me and I decided to browse music on the internet. I rememebred hearing Chop Suey on Kerrang ages ago and decided to look for it. Now I've found it,..I've lost count of how many times I've acturaly played this song :D. Anyway, the lyrics are kinda,...deep and complex. Anyway, lyrics: Wake up, Grab a brush and put a little (makeup), Grab a brush and put a little, Hide the scars to fade away the (shakeup) Hide the scars to fade away the, Why'd you leave the keys upon the table? Here you go create another fable You wanted to, Grab a brush and put a little makeup, You wanted to, Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup, You wanted to, Why'd you leave the keys upon the table, You wanted to, I don't think you trust, In, my, self righteous suicide, I, cry, when angels deserve to die, Die, Wake up, Grab a brush and put a little (makeup), Grab a brush and put a little, Hide the scars to fade away the (shakeup) Hide the scars to fade away the, Why'd you leave the keys upon the table? Here you go create another fable You wanted to, Grab a brush and put a little makeup, You wanted to, Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup, You wanted to, Why'd you leave the keys upon the table, You wanted to, I don't think you trust, In, my, self righteous suicide, I, cry, when angels deserve to die In my, self righteous suicide, I, cry, when angels deserve to die Father, Father, Father, Father Father, Into your hands, I, commend my spirit, Father, into your hands, Why have you forsaken me, In your eyes forsaken me, In your thoughts forsaken me, In your heart forsaken, me oh, Trust in my self righteous suicide, I, cry, when angels deserve to die, In my self righteous suicide, I, cry, when angels deserve to die. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Black_raven on November 26, 2006, 22:48 Bump,..another song stuck in my brain ( Sorry It's a depressive one, but It's one of The Offspring songs I feel like I can relate to at times, even if it's a little over the top in depressiveness,..is that a word? :p)
Amazed - The Offspring: Sometimes I think I’m gonna drown Cause everyone around’s so hollow I’m alone Sometimes I think I’m going down But no one makes a sound They follow And I’m alone Yeah if I make it I’d be amazed Just to find tomorrow One more day and I’d be amazed Just to see it waiting And if I make it I’m still alone No more hope for better days But if I could change Then I’d really be amazed And when you know you can’t relate To one more shiny face Your heart breaks No one cares And when you know you can’t go on Cause everything is wrong Your heart breaks But no one’s there Yeah if I make it I’d be amazed Just to find tomorrow One more day and I’d be amazed Just to see it waiting And if I make it I’m still alone No more hope for better days But if I could change Then I’d really be amazed Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on November 28, 2006, 18:27 Ah the offspring, My older brother went to school with the Drummer of the band. Everclear - Out Of My Depth Out of my depth Lost in the air Falling faster Like a broken elevator Out of my depth Lost in the dark Waiting for that other shoe To come down hard I cannot communicate Like I wish I could I do not deal with my problems Like I know I should I am out of my depth I am out of my league Watching everything Just slip away from me Something bad is going to happen I can feel it deep inside There are shadows all around me Like a bad moon on the rise I am in over my head I am in too deep here Over my head I guess I should keep my opinions to myself I guess I am out of my depth Out of my depth Right from the start I feel like I was born With an invisible heart Out of my depth Seems like everyday I can't find the words To make the good things come my way Yes, I feel like I am faking it I feel like I am wrong I feel like I'm a guest Like I just do not belong I am out of my depth Every single day I just cannot find the words To make my monsters go away Something bad is going to happen I can feel it deep inside There are shadows all around me Like a bad moon on the rise I am in too deep here Over my head Yes, I am in too deep here Over my head I should seek some professional help Because I'm out of my depth Yes, I am out of my depth And I am slowly going out of my mind Oh, go away Make them go away Someday I know I will make them go away Make them go away Make them go away Someday I know I will Make my monsters go away I am in over my head I should seek some professional help I should keep my opinions to myself I guess I'm out of my depth I am out of my depth I am out of my depth I am out of my...uh, uh, WAHHHHH!!! I am out of my depth I am out of my depth I am out of my depth I am out of my depth I am out of my depth I am out of my depth I am out of my depth Yes, I am slowly going out of my mind Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Casper on November 29, 2006, 12:30 Whoa... spooky song. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on November 30, 2006, 03:11 I remember that one. It is a bit up beat but good. I have yet another Jars of clay entry. this one is called "waiting for my world to fall"
afraid it's been too long to find the reasons why i let my world fall in around a smaller patch of fading sky but now i've grown beyond the walls to where i've never been and it's still winter in my wonderland i'm waiting for the world to fall i'm waiting for the scene to change i'm waiting when the colors come i'm waiting to let my world come undone i close my eyes and try to see the world unbroken underneath the farther off and already it might just make the life i lead a little more than make-believe when all my skies are painted blue and all the clouds don't ever change the shape of who i am to you i'm waiting for the world to fall i'm waiting for the scene to change i'm waiting when the colors come i'm waiting to let my world come undone when i catch the light of falling stars my view is changing me my view is changing me i'm waiting i'm waiting for the world to fall i'm waiting for the scene to change i'm waiting when the colors come i'm waiting to let my world come undone Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on December 01, 2006, 21:49 Here's a good song from a band called the Bodeans.
Going Home They said good-bye to all their friends And left their humble homes behind They'd heard about a chance up north Amidst the noise and dirt and fire And on the way they prayed to God "Have mercy send us down a light" And when the babies cried they told them close "My son, everything is alright" One walked his way around the town The other took the name of Rose They both never had much wealth But each one knew how a flower grows And they spoke a language in new ways And raised their familes true to heart Their blood runs through my veins so deep I know they could never tear us apart Yeah, they broke their backs just trying to stake a place That they could call their own And as we lay them down to sleep I know in my heart that they're going home Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Suusje on December 01, 2006, 22:03 It took me about a month to find the title and artist of this song, so I might as well share it with you :p

Anyway, these are the lyrics from a beautiful song by Crowded House (written by Neil and Tim Finn), from their Woodface album. Fairly dark but with maybe a hint of hope... How Will You Go Escape is on your mind again Escape to a far away land At times it seems there is no end To long hard nights of drinking How will you go How will you go Drive through the wind and the rain Cover it up Cover it up I'll find you a shelter to sleep in I fell over on the couch again But you know not all sleep is wasted Your dreams are alcohol inspired You can't find a better way to face it How will you go How will you go Drive through the wind and the rain Cover it up Cover it up I'll find you a shelter to sleep in And you know I'll be fine Just don't ask me how it's going Gimme time, gimme time Cos I want you to see Round the world round the world Is a tangled up necklace of pearls How will you go How will you go Drive through the wind and the rain Cover it up Cover it up I'll find you a shelter to sleep in Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Dagdamor on December 03, 2006, 07:42 Suusje

Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on December 05, 2006, 23:47 A special one for all of those Lisa Fanatics out there. "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder
Honey why are you calling me so late It’s kinda hard to talk right now Honey why are you crying is everything okay I gotta whisper cause I can’t be too loud Well, my girls in the next room Sometimes I wish she was you I guess we never really moved on It’s really good to hear your voice saying my name It sounds so sweet Coming from the lips of an angel Hearing those words it makes me weak And I never wanna say goodbye But girl you make it hard to be faithful With the lips of an angel It’s funny that you’re calling me tonight And yes I’ve dreamt of you too And does he know you’re talking to me Will it start a fight No I don’t think she has a clue Well my girls in the next room Sometimes I wish she was you I guess we never really moved on It’s really good to hear your voice saying my name It sounds so sweet Coming from the lips of an angel Hearing those wordsa it makes me weak And I never wanna say goodbye But girl you make it hard to be faithful With the lips of an angel It’s really good to hear your voice saying my name It sounds so sweet Coming from the lips of an angel Hearing those words it makes me weak And I never wanna say goodbye But girl you make it hard to be faithful With the lips of an angel (And I never wanna say goodbye) But girl you make it so hard to be faithful With the lips of an angel Honey why are you calling me so late Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on December 06, 2006, 01:53 Yet another BD song, this one's a bit less fatalistic.
Early one mornin' the sun was shinin', I was layin' in bed Wond'rin' if she'd changed at all If her hair was still red. Her folks they said our lives together Sure was gonna be rough They never did like Mama's homemade dress Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough. And I was standin' on the side of the road Rain fallin' on my shoes Heading out for the East Coast Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through, Tangled up in blue. She was married when we first met Soon to be divorced I helped her out of a jam, I guess, But I used a little too much force. We drove that car as far as we could Abandoned it out West Split up on a dark sad night Both agreeing it was best. She turned around to look at me As I was walkin' away I heard her say over my shoulder, "We'll meet again someday on the avenue," Tangled up in blue. I had a job in the great north woods Working as a cook for a spell But I never did like it all that much And one day the ax just fell. So I drifted down to New Orleans Where I happened to be employed Workin' for a while on a fishin' boat Right outside of Delacroix. But all the while I was alone The past was close behind, I seen a lot of women But she never escaped my mind, and I just grew Tangled up in blue. She was workin' in a topless place And I stopped in for a beer, I just kept lookin' at the side of her face In the spotlight so clear. And later on as the crowd thinned out I's just about to do the same, She was standing there in back of my chair Said to me, "Don't I know your name?" I muttered somethin' underneath my breath, She studied the lines on my face. I must admit I felt a little uneasy When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe, Tangled up in blue. She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe "I thought you'd never say hello," she said "You look like the silent type." Then she opened up a book of poems And handed it to me Written by an Italian poet From the thirteenth century. And every one of them words rang true And glowed like burnin' coal Pourin' off of every page Like it was written in my soul from me to you, Tangled up in blue. I lived with them on Montague Street In a basement down the stairs, There was music in the cafes at night And revolution in the air. Then he started into dealing with slaves And something inside of him died. She had to sell everything she owned And froze up inside. And when finally the bottom fell out I became withdrawn, The only thing I knew how to do Was to keep on keepin' on like a bird that flew, Tangled up in blue. So now I'm goin' back again, I got to get to her somehow. All the people we used to know They're an illusion to me now. Some are mathematicians Some are carpenter's wives. Don't know how it all got started, I don't know what they're doin' with their lives. But me, I'm still on the road Headin' for another joint We always did feel the same, We just saw it from a different point of view, Tangled up in blue. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on December 11, 2006, 01:33 Sorry for the DP, but here's a good greenday song you can stream from Kyle's site.
Name: Whatsername Artist: Green Day http://www.krustylustudios.com/tsw/sounds/Whatshername Here's the lyrics: Green Day - Whatsername Lyrics Thought I ran into you down on the street Then it turned out to only be a dream I made a point to burn all of the photographs She went away and then I took a different path I remember the face But I cant recall the name Now I wonder how whatsername has been Seems that she disappeared with out a trace Did she ever marry old what's his face? I made a point to burn all of the photographs She went away and then I took a different path I remember the face But I cant recall the name Now I wonder how whatsername has been Remember, whatever It seems like forever ago Remember, whatever It seems like forever ago The regrets are useless In my mind She's in my head I must confess The regrets are useless In my mind She's in my head From so long ago (Go, Go, Go, Go..) And in the darkest night If my memory serves me right I'll never turn back time Forgetting you, but not the time Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: KDL on December 11, 2006, 01:36 Yup. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on December 19, 2006, 00:39 If you're looking for a good song, I reccomend Jimmy Buffet's "He Went to Paris".
He went to paris lookin' for answers To questions that bothered him so He was impressive, young and aggressive Savin the world on his own But the warm summer breezes The french wines and cheeses Put his ambition at bay The summers and winters Scattered like splinters And four or five years slipped away Then he went to england, played the piano And married an actress named kim They had a fine life, she was a good wife And bore him a young son named jim And all of the answers and all of the questions Locked in his attic one day cause he liked the quiet clean country livin' And twenty more years slipped away Well the war took his lady, the bombs killed his baby And left him with only one eye His body was battered, his whole world was shattered And all he could do was just cry While the tears were a-fallin' he was recallin' Answers he never found So he hopped on a freighter, skipped across the ocean And left england without a sound Now he lives in the islands, fishes the pilin's And drinks his green label each day Writing his memoirs, losin his hearin But he dont care what most people say Through eighty-six years of perpetual emotion If he likes you he'll smile and he'll say Jimmy, some of its magic, some of its tragic But I had a good life all the way. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on December 19, 2006, 01:47 Country Folk, I think. At least that's what the tune sounds like.
Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: SimpReal on December 21, 2006, 16:48 Anathema - Pulled Under 2000 Metres A Second
Freedom is only a hallucination That waits at the edge of the distant horizon And we are all strangers in a global illusion Wanting and needing impossible heaven Chasing the dream as they swim out to sea The mirage ahead says that they can be free Become lost in delusion drowning their reason Swept on by the current of selfish ambition Frightened ashamed and afraid of the blame The questions are screaming the answers are hiding The sickness is growing distracted condition You can feel the disgust and smell the confusion Lying insane getting soaked in the rain Draining the sky of the guilt and the shame The nightmare is coming the clouds are descending Pulled under at two thousand metres a second Clawing at walls that just slip through my fingers Darkness consuming collapsing and breaking Distilled paranoia seeped into the walls And filled in the cracks with the whispering calls Shadows are forming take heed of the warnings Creeping around at four in the morning Lie to myself start a brand new beginning But I'm losing myself in this fear of living Freedom is only a hallucination That waits at the edge of the places you go when you dream Deep in the reason betrayal of feeling The mistakes that I made tore my conscience apart at the seems Freedom is only a hallucination That waits at the edge of the places you go when you dream... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Dagdamor on December 25, 2006, 01:51 Charming lyrics... I can only wonder how the whole song sounds.

Anyway, here's "Wake me up when september ends" by Green Day.
Summer has come and passed The innocent can never last Wake me up when September ends Like my fathers come to pass Seven years has gone so fast Wake me up when September ends Here comes the rain again Falling from the stars Drenched in my pain again Becoming who we are As my memory rests But never forgets what I lost Wake me up when September ends Summer has come and passed The innocent can never last Wake me up when September ends Ring out the bells again Like we did when spring began Wake me up when September ends Here comes the rain again Falling from the stars Drenched in my pain again Becoming who we are As my memory rests But never forgets what I lost Wake me up when September ends Summer has come and passed The innocent can never last Wake me up when September ends Like my father's come to pass Twenty years has gone so fast Wake me up when September ends Wake me up when September ends Wake me up when September ends Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Dagdamor on December 27, 2006, 08:05 SimpReal
Downloaded. Listened. Scared. Can't sleep. Can you upload the rest of the album? Thanks in advance ;) ametur_poet Oh, most of the songs you're posting here are very interesting, too... :) Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: SimpReal on December 27, 2006, 09:11 Well, AP, i guess the answer is that.... each lyric means something special to someone depending on the music. It's hard to make sense of some lyrics if they're disassociated from their music. Since i dont know most of the songs you posted, i don't know how they sound, i fail in creating a "mood" that carries the words, and so... i might like some sentences and the general idea of the text, but it doesn't hook me up in the way it hooks you up :)
But in this last case, with "Wake Me Up", i know and like the song pretty much (after all it has been a pop hit for weeks), and readign the lyrics give it a second reading key. A reason to listen more :) For me, Lyrics are a vital part of sung music. If a song has uninspired, or clicheed, or teen-angst-emo lyrics, it loses half of its charm imo. That's why i love bands like Opeth, Katatonia, but more of all, Anathema, like the last one. They compose song, but they also compose poems. Such as: Opeth - Isolation Years There's a sense of longing in me As I read Rosemary's letter Her writing's honest Can't forget the years she's lost In isolation She talks about her love And as I read "I'll die alone" I know she was aching There's a certain detail seen here The pen must have slipped to the side And left a stain Next to his name She knew he was gone And isolation Is all that would remain "The wound in me is pouring out To rest on a lover's shore" /me sighs Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on January 02, 2007, 02:11 I'm not sure if I posted this yet, but here's "Holy Water" by Big and Rich:
Somewhere there's a stolen halo I use to watch her wear it well Everything would shine wherever she would go But looking at her now you'd never tell Someone ran away with her innocence A memory she can't get out of her head I can only imagine what she's feeling When she's praying Kneeling at the edge of her bed And she says take me away And take me farther Surround me now And hold, hold, hold me like holy water Holy water She wants someone to call her angel Someone to put the light back in her eyes She's looking through the faces The unfamiliar places She needs someone to hear her when she cries And she says take me away And take me farther Surround me now And hold, hold, hold me like holy water She just needs a little help To wash away the pain she's felt She wants to feel the healing hands Of someone who understands And she says take me away And take me farther Surround me now And hold, hold, hold me And she says take me away And take me farther Surround me now And hold, hold, hold me like holy water Like Holy water Like Holy water Like Holy water Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Casper on January 03, 2007, 23:55 I'm breaking my 'No Posting' mandate.
Fear Factory's 'A Thearapy for Pain' caught my lyric listening ear today. An amazing song experiance, so few lyrics for almost 10 minutes of guitar riff... Nice! -- I welcome death with open arms Her soft breath and simple charm Wandering through memories Takes my hand for me to see Tried so hard... (x2) Echoes of Innocence Are my thoughts into dissent Tried so hard... (x4) When we finally reach the end She lets go off my hand Walking into realms of light There will be no death tonight Tried so hard... (x4) -- I dont know who 'she' is but, kinda makes me think a particular blonde spikey hair halo wearing winged 8 year old. I wonder who... :lisa: Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on January 04, 2007, 00:42 lol, that's why I posted the song "Holy Water" :) Here's the lyrics for what is one of Green Day's strangest songs; "Warning". I think it was written mainly for the purpose of irony.
This is a public service anouncement, this is only a test Emergency evacuation process May Impair your ability to operate machinery Can't quite tell just what it means to me Keep out of reach of children, don't you talk to strangers Get your philoshophy from a bumper sticker CHORUS: Warning. Live without warning Say warning. Live without warning Without. Alright. VERSE 2: Mental homes and safety self communities. Did you remember to the pay the utility? Gosh Darn Police Line You Better Not Cross! Is it the cop, or am I the one thats really dangerous? Sanitation, expiration date, question everything. Oh shut up and be a victim of authority CHORUS: Warning. Live without warning Say warning. Live without warning Say warning. Live without warning Say warning. Live without warning Without. Alright. VERSE 3: Mental homes and saftey shelf communities. Did you remember to pay the pay the utility? Gosh Darn Police Line You Better Not Cross! Is it the cop, or am I the one that's really dangerous Sanitation, expiration date, question everything. Oh shut up and be a victim of authority CHORUS: Warning. Live without warning Say warning. Casper I probably digging into it too much, but I agree... both songs fit Lisa well... Nice lyrics there. (I mean replies #51 and #52) :) Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on January 04, 2007, 03:07 Here is a song that has taken on a deep meaning for me.
LifeHouse----All in All Standing on top of the edge it feels like it's going down Everything stays in my mind feeling in a daze on the ground Feels like it's gonna give life's to hard to live anymore I think I've had enough things too tough I'm out the door All in all it's just another day now You're falling down What you gonna do Standing on top of the world tonight No ones looking back at you Stand tall It's going on It's going on It's gonna be just fine You're holding on Holding on today Things don't stop and the others announced they're moving on Salt & tears in the minds in the mouths of a bad decision Too late for another mistake it's bringing me down With all your faults it isn't your fault What's going on All in all it's just another day now You're falling down What you gonna do Standing on top of the world tonight No ones looking back at you Stand tall It's going on It's going on It's gonna be just fine You're holding on Holding on today So you lost yourself So you lost your way Found life through someone else But you threw it all away All in all it's just another day now You're falling down What you gonna do Standing on top of the world tonight No ones looking back at you Stand tall It's going on It's going on It's gonna be just fine You're holding on Holding on today Times rolling on Rolling on today It's going on Going on today Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on January 14, 2007, 08:27 Every time I hear this song I think of Lisa. Don't ask me why, but after seeing such episodes as "She of Little Faith" and "Lisa the Skeptic" it just sort of clicked. Go figure.
In another life I woke up dreaming with a sigh As the morning light Was painting whispers of a joy And I was in the candlelit bedroom Enchanting beauty shimmering magically Like an iridescent cloud Being blown by a westerly wind She can move your soul without you knowing She can take your breath away from heaven And I was captured by her loneliness A wounded tiger on a willowy path Like an opalescent moon all alone In the sky of a foreign land She can take your breath away from heaven She can move your soul without you knowing She can take your breath away from heaven She is like an everlasting blossom She can take your breath away from heaven... -George Harrison "Breath Away From Heaven" (Cloud Nine) Lyrics by George Harrison Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: SimpReal on January 14, 2007, 10:03 Wow, this last one is very good. I like especially
" And I was captured by her loneliness A wounded tiger on a willowy path Like an opalescent moon all alone In the sky of a foreign land " It does fit Lisa's character very well, especially in the episodes where she feels blue. :( Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on January 15, 2007, 07:10 That's exactly what I thought!
Wow, I feel like I really connect with people on this forum. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Shadow Nait on January 18, 2007, 21:43 When I heard this song by chance I have been simply struck... Very touching and gentle song... filled with an easy grief. :) And what the accompaniment on the piano...and the voice of course.
Nina Simone Little girl blue Sit there and count your fingers What can you do Old girl you're through Sit there, count your little fingers Unhappy little girl blue. Sit there and count the raindrops Falling on you It's time you knew All you can ever count on Are the raindrops That fall on little girl blue Won't you just sit there Count the little raindrops Falling on you 'Cause it's time you knew All you can ever count on Are the raindrops That fall on little girl blue No use old girl You might as well surrender 'Cause your hopes are getting slender and slender Why won't somebody send a tender blue boy To cheer up little girl blue Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on January 19, 2007, 02:54 Here's a few Green Day Music Videos:

Have my love It fits you like a glove Join my dream, tell me yes Bail out should there be a mess The pieces you don't need are mine Take my time I'll show you cloud nine Take my smile and my heart The pieces to omit are mine Have my love Use it while it does you good Share my highs but the times That it hurts pay no mind The pieces you don't need are mine I'll see you there on cloud nine Take my hope Maybe even share a joke If there's good to be shown You may make it all your own And if you want to quit that's fine While you're out looking for cloud nine And another one, written by Harrison. I look at you all, see the love there that's sleeping, while my guitar gently weeps I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping, still my guitar gently weeps I don't know why nobody told you, how to unfold you love I don't know how someone controlled you, they bought and sold you I look at the world and I notice it's turning, while my guitar gently weeps With every mistake we must surely be learning, still my guitar gently weeps I don't know how you were diverted, you were perverted too, I don't know how you were inverted, no one alerted you I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping, while my guitar gently weeps I look at you all... still my guitar gently weeps Edit: Okay, YouTube deleted every video of the Petty/Lynne/Prince one that I could find, so here's one with George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Jeff Lynne and Phil Collins. http://youtube.com/watch?v=0ITrQXES8kU Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on January 19, 2007, 23:56 This song is very touching, as it can be interpreted in many ways. Clapton wrote it for his son, Connor, who (in 1991) fell off of a very high apartment balcony and did not survive.
"Circus" -by Eric Clapton (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wISgh2fsdxs&mode=related&search=) Little man with his eyes on fire And his smile so bright In his hands are the toys you gave To fill his heart with delight And in the ring stands a circus clown Holding up a knife What you see and what you will hear Will last you for the rest of your life And its sad, so sad, There ain't no easy way round And its sad, so sad, All you friends gather round Cause the circus left town Little man with his heart so pure And his love so fine Stick with me and I'll ride with you To the end of the line Hold my hand and I'll walk with you Through the darkest night And when I smile, I'll be thinking of you And every little thing will be all right And its sad, so sad, There ain't no easy way round And its sad, so sad, All you friends gather round Cause the circus left town And its sad, so sad, There ain't no easy way round And its sad, so sad, All you friends gather round Cause the circus left town The circus left town, left town The circus left town, left town Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on January 21, 2007, 02:37 "Macy's Day Parade" by Green Day. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on January 21, 2007, 08:22 This is another great song that makes me think of Lisa, it reminds me of when I first became attached to her. I don't know how or why it happened, but it did. She helped me to live my life a little better, and the lines in this song "I need you now to be beside me, while all my world is so untidy/sad and crazy" pretty much describe my need for her at that time. And now it seems like I'm a better man than I was before. You could say, that it stopped me heading someplace else.
You got into my life I don't know how you found me, but you did It stopped me heading someplace else Took me a while to say Wish you belong to me But now I'm saddened like I've never been Regretting that we'll leave And for a while you could comfort me And hold me for some time I need you now to be beside me While all my world is so untidy Loneliness... Empty faces... Wish I could leave them all In someplace else... Someplace else... I hope you won't let go Maybe you'll let me know That you'll be saddened like you've never been Regretting that we'll leave And for a while I could comfort you And hold you in my mind I need you now to be beside me While all my world is sad and crazy Loneliness... Empty faces... Wish I could leave them all In someplace else... And for a while you could comfort me And hold me for some time I need you now to be beside me While all my world is so untidy Loneliness... Empty faces... Wish I could leave them all In someplace else Loneliness... Empty faces... Wish I could leave them all In someplace else... Someplace else... I think I'm gonna leave them all In someplace else... Virginia was a hooker from F.L.A. She had a compound fracture in the trunk It started when she ran away Thumbs out out on the interstate She hitched a ride to misery Mr. Whirly had a catastrophic incident He fell into the city by the bay He liquidated his estate Now he sleeps on the interstate Panhandling his misery He's gonna get high, high, high, When he's low, low, low, The fire burns from better days And she screems why, why, why, I said I don't know The catastrophic hymnes from yesterday Of misery Vinnie was a hustler out of Amsterdam He ran the drug cartel in tinseltown They found him in a cadillac Bludgeoned with a baseball bat, in the name of misery Frankie hit the road to New York City Mysteriously the night Vinnie croaked He stopped in Vegas to elope With Virgina and the dope And kissed the bride in misery And they're gonna get high, high, high When they're low, low, low The fire burns from better days And he screems why I said I don't know The catastrophic hymnes from yesterday Of misery Hell hounds on your trail now once again..boy It's gnawin' on your leg until it sleeps The emptiness will fill your soul with sorrow Cause' it's not what yu make, it's what you leave And we're gonna get high, high, high When I'm low, low, low The fire burns from better days And she screems why I said I don't know The catastrophic hymnes from yesterday Of misery... Of misery... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Casper on January 22, 2007, 18:28 You sure like Green Day :D

One of my fav songs ever  Linkin Park - In The End It starts with one thing I don't know why It doesn't even matter how hard you try keep that in mind I designed this rhyme To explain in due time All I know Time is a valuable thing Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings Watch it count down to the end of the day The clock ticks life away It's so unreal Didn't look out below Watch the time go right out the window Trying to hold on, but didn't even know Wasted it all just to watch you go I kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when (Chorus:) I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn't even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn't even matter One thing, I don't know why It doesn’t even matter how hard you try, keep that in mind I designed this rhyme, to explain in due time I tried so hard In spite of the way you were mocking me Acting like I was part of your property Remembering all the times you fought with me I'm surprised it got so (far) Things aren't the way they were before You wouldn't even recognize me anymore Not that you knew me back then But it all comes back to me (in the end) You kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I Chorus I’ve put my trust in you Pushed as far as I can go And for all this There's only one thing you should know Chorus (x2) Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on January 23, 2007, 00:02 Here's "Old Love" by Eric Clapton. http://youtube.com/watch?v=-axOgiuo8Ec
I can feel your body When I'm lying in bed There's too much confusion Going around through my head And it makes me so angry To know that the flame still burns Why can't I get over? When will I ever learn? Old love, leave me alone Old love, go on home I can see your face But I know that it's not real It's just an illusion Caused by how I used to feel And it makes me so angry To know that the flame will always burn I'll never get over I know now that I'll never learn Old love, leave me alone Old love, go on home... Written by Eric Clapton and Robert Cray Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: ametur_poet on January 27, 2007, 01:39 "Dead Man, Dead Man" by Bob Dylan. It's a pretty sad song, but I like the lyrics.
Uttering idle words from a reprobate mind, Clinging to strange promises, dying on the vine, Never bein' able to separate the good from the bad, Ooh, I can't stand it, I can't stand it, It's makin' me feel so sad. Dead man, dead man, When will you arise? Cobwebs in your mind, Dust upon your eyes. Satan got you by the heel, there's a bird's nest in your hair. Do you have any faith at all? Do you have any love to share? The way that you hold your head, cursin' God with every move, Ooh, I can't stand it, I can't stand it, What are you tryin' to prove? Dead man, dead man, When will you arise? Cobwebs in your mind, Dust upon your eyes. The glamour and the bright lights and the politics of sin, The ghetto that you build for me is the one you end up in, The race of the engine that overrules your heart, Ooh, I can't stand it, I can't stand it, Pretending that you're so smart. Dead man, dead man, When will you arise? Cobwebs in your mind, Dust upon your eyes. What are you tryin' to overpower me with, the doctrine or the gun? My back is already to the wall, where can I run? The tuxedo that you're wearin', the flower in your lapel, Ooh, I can't stand it, I can't stand it, You wanna take me down to hell. Dead man, dead man, When will you arise? Cobwebs in your mind, Dust upon your eyes. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on January 27, 2007, 06:28 This is one of my favorite songs by Eric Clapton. The lyrics really mean a lot to me. http://youtube.com/watch?v=JiVa2-ZVVV0
How do I choose, and where do I draw the line Between truth and necessary pain And how do I know and where do I get my belief That things will be all right again What words do I use, to try and explain To those who've witnessed all my tears And what does it mean to know all these things When love's been wasted all these years, When love's been wasted all these years... Standing in the shadows With my heart right in my hand, Removed from all the people Who could never understand I was a pilgrim for your love A pilgrim for your love I was a pilgrim for your love A pilgrim for your love It's like living in a nightmare, Like looking in the blackest hole, Like standing on the edge of nothing, Completely out of control Now where have I been all these years And how come I just couldn't see? Like a blind man walking 'round in darkness, I was a pilgrim for your love I was a pilgrim for your love... Standing in the shadows With my heart right in my hand, Removed from all the people Who could never understand Standing in the shadows With my heart right in my hand, Removed from all the people Who could never understand... I was a pilgrim for your love A pilgrim for your love... I was a pilgrim for your love A pilgrim for your love... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: SpringfieldHorror on January 31, 2007, 18:36 Here's Love Like Winter by AFI ( A. F.ire I.nside )
Warn your warmth to turn away, Here it's december, Everyday. [echo:] I'm with you Press your lips to the sculptures, And surely you'll stay. [distance:] love like winter For of sugar and ice, I am made. I am made It's in the blood, It's in the blood. I met my love before I was born. He wanted love, I taste of blood. He bit my lip, and drank my war, From years before, from years before. She exhales vanilla lace, I barely dreamt her, yesterday. [echo:] yesterday Read the lines in the mirror through, The lipstick trace. Por siempre She said "It seems you're somewhere, far away" to his face. It's in the blood, It's in the blood. I met my love before I was born. She wanted love, I taste of blood. She bit my lip, and drank my war, From years before, from years before. Love Like Winter. Love Like Winter. Winter. Three, four It's in the blood, It's in the blood. I met my love before I was born. He wanted love, I taste of blood. He bit my lip, and drank my war, From years before, from years before. From years before. Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Shadow Nait on January 31, 2007, 22:34 GeorgeHarrison
I really do like the "Old Love" lyrics, especially the extract: It's just an illusion Caused by how I used to feel And it makes me so angry To know that the flame will always burn There's something in this lines causing very familiar feelings in me :) Nice song! And the previous one, which Clapton dedicated to his son - really very touching. That's a terrible trial - to go through the death of own son. The father's hopeless anguish is heard in the words: Little man with his eyes on fire And his smile so bright.... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 01, 2007, 15:10 This is an awesome song by Gerry Rafferty, "Baker Street".
(The sax solo in this song was played by Lisa at the end of the episode "Lisa's Sax") http://youtube.com/watch?v=EgbGaYTkkPU Windin' your way down on Baker Street Light in your head and dead on your feet Well another crazy day You'll drink the night away And forget about everything This city desert makes you feel so cold. It's got so many people but it's got no soul And it's taking you so long To find out you were wrong When you thought it had everything You used to think that it was so easy You used to say that it was so easy But you're tryin' You're tryin' now Another year and then you'll be happy Just one more year and then you'll be happy But you're cryin' You're cryin' now Way down the street there's a lad in his place He opens the door he's got that look on his face And he asks you where you've been You tell him who you've seen And you talk about anything He's got this dream about buyin' some land He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands And then he'll settle down there's a quiet little town And forget about everything But you know he'll always keep movin' You know he's never gonna stop movin Cus he's rollin' He's the rollin' stone And when you wake up it's a new mornin' The sun is shinin' it's a new morning You're goin' You're goin' home Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Casper on February 01, 2007, 19:50 That solo has always reminded me of Lisa, gives me goose-pimples everytime I hear it :D
Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 01, 2007, 21:37 Agreed. The guitar solo along with the sax solo from 3:20 to 4:02 give me chills. :)

2. Another Day Live another day Climb a little higher Find another reason to stay Ashes in your hands Mercy in your eyes If you're searching for a silent sky... You won't find it here Look another way You won't find it here So die another day The coldness of this words The message in his silence, Face the candle to the wind... This distance in my voice Isn't leaving you a choice So if you're looking for a time to run away... You won't find it here Look another way You won't find it here So try another day They took pictures of our dreams Ran to hide behind the stairs And said maybe when it's right for you, they'll fall But if they don't come down Resist the need to pull them in And throw them away Better to save the mystery Than surrender to the secret You won't find it here Look another way You won't find it here So try another day Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 05, 2007, 15:30 Here's "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd, performed live. The lighting in this show is absolutely mind-blowing. An amazing song and an amazing show.
Edit: New link, YouTube deleted previous video. http://youtube.com/watch?v=JWnapx502uQ Hello, hello, hello... Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me Is there anyone at home? Come on, now, I hear you're feeling down Well I can ease your pain Get you on your feet again Relax, relax, relax... I'll need some information first Just the basic facts Can you show me where it hurts? There is no pain you are receding A distant ship, smoke on the horizon You are only coming through in waves Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying When I was a child I had a fever My hands felt just like two balloons Now I've got that feeling once again I can't explain you would not understand This is not how I am I have become... comfortably numb Okay, okay, okay... Just a little pinprick There'll be no more-- aaaaaaaaahhhh... But you may feel a little sick Can you stand up?! (stand up, stand up) I do believe it's working, good That'll keep you going through the show Come on, it's time to go There is no pain you are receding A distant ship, smoke on the horizon You are only coming through in waves Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown, the dream is gone I have become... comfortably numb... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on February 05, 2007, 18:03 IF you want "Good" when it comes to Pink Floyd (in my mind) look to the album "Delicate sound of thunder." it is the live version of their songs, Like both "the wall" and "Pulse." On DSOT Go to "Us and Them" and "Wish you were here." both of these songs have a very good Sax in the background and they are just very good overall
Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 05, 2007, 23:28 I'll have to check that out. Most bands I prefer the studio version, but I have the studio version of "Comfortably Numb" and overall I think the live one is better.
Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 08, 2007, 06:24 This is a great song by John Lennon, called "Woman". Every time I hear it I think of Lisa (once again), and how much I love and need her. http://youtube.com/watch?v=A3deToKl_Dg&mode=related&search=
Woman, I can hardly express My mixed emotion at my thoughtlessness After all I'm forever in your debt And woman, I will try express My inner feelings and thankfulness For showing me the meaning of success oooh... well well oooh... well well Woman, I know you understand The little child inside the man Please remember my life is in your hands And woman, hold me close to your heart However distant they'll keep us apart After all it is written in the stars oooh... well well oooh... well well Woman, please let me explain I never meant to cause you sorrow or pain So let me tell you again and again and again I love you... yeah, yeah... now and forever I love you... yeah, yeah... now and forever I love you... yeah, yeah... now and forever I love you... yeah, yeah.... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on February 08, 2007, 22:16 this one is the latest one to hit my fancy for my story. I have had this CD for almost 8 years and this song just suddenly hit me.
I give you: Vertical Horizon We are We are [Repeat] Take a listen through the window Take a lover on the radio Ask her if she's got an answer Do you know... Time enough to get a good one Though they never seem to get done I am standing for a reason Do you know... 'Cause I don't know how I don't know where We are... We are... And I don't know why I don't know if We are... We are... Seven days and not a return Seven lives and not a thing learned Take a lover on the highway Do you know... 'Cause I am sleeping on a time bomb And I am waiting for the light to come You and I could get away now Do you know... 'Cause I don't know how I don't know where We are... We are... And I don't know why I don't know if We are... We are... I get up sometimes Like somebody else Am I just wasting time For somebody else Take a listen through the window Another lover on the radio Ask her if she's got an answer Do you know 'Cause I don't know how I don't know where We are... We are... And I don't know why I don't know if We are... We are... And, I don't know how I don't know where... We are... I don't know why I don't know if, if, if, if... We are... We are... We are Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 09, 2007, 00:00 Another great song by Bob Dylan, "Things Have Changed". This man has written so much music it's not even funny!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=G0e4saINO_s A worried man with a worried mind No one in front of me and nothing behind There's a woman on my lap and she's drinking champagne Got white skin, got assassin's eyes I'm looking up into the sapphire tinted skies I'm well dressed, waiting on the last train Standing on the gallows with my head in a noose Any minute now I'm expecting all hell to break loose People are crazy and times are strange I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range I used to care, but things have changed I've been walking forty miles of bad road If the Bible is right, the world will explode I've been trying to get as far away from myself as I can Some things are too hot to touch The human mind can only stand so much You can't win with a losing hand Feel like falling in love with the first woman I meet Putting her in a wheel barrow and wheeling her down the street People are crazy and times are strange I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range I used to care, but things have changed I hurt easy, I just don't show it You can hurt someone and not even know it The next sixty seconds could be like an eternity Gonna get low down, gonna fly high All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie I'm in love with a woman who don't even appeal to me Mr. Jinx and Miss Lucy, they jumped in the lake I'm not that eager to make a mistake People are crazy and times are strange I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range I used to care, but things have changed... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 09, 2007, 05:49 If I wrote a song for Lisa, this would be it.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ynDVy9zFuq8 It's a little bit funny, this feeling inside I'm not one of those who can easily hide I don't have much money but, boy if I did I'd buy a big house where we both could live If I was a sculptor, but then again, no Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show I know it's not much but it's the best I can do My gift is my song and this one's for you And you can tell everybody this is your song It may be quite simple but now that it's done I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song It's for people like you that keep it turned on So excuse me forgetting, but these things I do You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue (they're blue ;)) Anyway the thing is what I really mean Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen And you can tell everybody this is your song It may be quite simple but now that it's done I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: Casper on February 09, 2007, 12:36 The song is great, Elton John is a very profound musicion.
... but I think Ewan Mcgregor (http://youtube.com/watch?v=K-xs42kcOus) sung it brilliantly :p Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 10, 2007, 08:09 Two great songs by George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
"It Don't Come Easy" http://youtube.com/watch?v=eUbntU2N7xY (This song was featured in the Simpsons episode "Brush With Greatness" which Ringo guest-starred in) It don't come easy You know it don't come easy It don't come easy You know it don't come easy Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues And you know it don't come easy You don't have to shout or leap about You can even play them easy Forget about the past and all your sorrows The future won't last It will soon be over tomorrow I don't ask for much, I only want your trust And you know it don't come easy And this love of mine keeps growing all the time And you know it just ain't easy Open up your heart, let's come together Use a little love And we will make it work out better Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues And you know it don't come easy You don't have to shout or leap about You can even play them easy Please remember peace is how we make it Here within your reach If you're big enough to take it I don't ask for much, I only want your trust And you know it don't come easy And this love of mine keeps growing all the time And you know it don't come easy (Written by George Harrison) "This is Love" http://youtube.com/watch?v=9t55vISn4Ak Precious words drift away from their meaning And the sun melts the chill from our lives Helping us all to remember what we came here for This is love, this is la la la-la love This is love, this is la la la-la love Little things that will change you forever May appear from way out of the blue Making fools of everybody who don't understand This is love, this is la la la-la love This is love, this is la la la-la love This is love, this is love This is love, this is la la la-la love Since our problems have been our own creation They also can be overcome When we use the power provided free to everyone This is love, this is la la la-la love This is love, this is la la la-la love This is love, this is la la la-la love This is love, this is la la la-la love Oh, this is love, this is la la la-la love This is love, this is la la la-la love... (Written by George Harrison) Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 11, 2007, 08:18 I just finished reading FLWS, and while I read the part where Lisa was being taken to the hospital, and her last moments of consciousness, this song seemed like appropriate filler music. The lyrics and the tune seem so apart from this world, and the sax from 5:22 to 6:17 seems to be saying "Goodbye..."
Pink Floyd - Us and Them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlY-JlE5ZCo Us and Them And after all we're only ordinary men Me, and you God only knows it's not what we would choose to do Forward he cried from the rear And the front rank died And the General sat, as the lines on the map Moved from side to side Black and Blue And who knows which is which and who is who Up and Down And in the end it's only round and round... and round Haven't you heard it's a battle of words The poster bearer cried Listen son, said the man with the gun There's room for you inside... Down and Out It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about With, without... And who'll deny it's what the fightings all about Out of the way, it's a busy day And I've got things on my mind For want of the price of tea and a slice The old man died... Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: laguna sky on February 11, 2007, 16:51 again another masterpiece of Floyd. I love the live version of this song. It always reminds me of Lisa. I always imagine her playing the Sax for this song.
Title: Re: Song Lyrics Post by: G.H. on February 14, 2007, 14:57 This song by George Harrison is quite different. At the time he wrote it, 1967, he was deeply involved and fascinated with Indian spi |
