Lisa, the Simpson!

Yay!
Finally, the place is open :) we hope you will like it and stay for more.

We decided to create this new forum for various reasons, but the principal of them is that we need a place where different kind of the Simpsons fans could talk freely about things they like. Most of us are obsessed with the show more or less, so don't be afraid to look weird here, especially if your favorite character is Lisa. ;)

This forum is not solely about Lisa though; it's for any kind of Simpsons-related discussions, just remember that some of us see much more in the show than just a bunch of animated frames. If "the Simpsons" is just a funny show for you and nothing more, probably this forum is not for you... who knows though. Give it a try anyway, maybe your vision will change in time.

The forum is also dedicated to fanart and fanfiction. For some unknown reason, most of the "obsessed" fans like fanworks a lot and tend to draw/write too. Some of them are skilled artists/writers, some of them are not, but it's always interesting to see a new creation made by fan. So feel free to post your works here, no matter if they are original or not (such as grabpics), related to the show or from your own canon.

I hope you will enjoy your stay on this forum! There still has to be a lot of decorations to add, and the walls might need a proper repainting, but  hey, the couch is confy and Lisa is looking forward to have more friends. :)

I have little to add to what Dagdamor said (thanks for the Introduction), but i'll add just my quick 2-cents about what i would like this forum to become:    Basically, just as the title up there says, this forum is dedicated to Lisa Simpson, her family, her town, and all of her fans... us.
Since LittleMissSpringfield, i've always wondered if such a place could exist, and now that i've got the chance i want to try my best at making that wish come true.  :red: And to explain how i see it, let me talk a bit about the very character that brought this place to life.

Lisa is a very sensitive, creative, smart, well-behaved child who loves her family at heart, despite some occasional quarrels;
She also is a kid at heart, capable of having fun watching Krusty's show and Itchy&Scratchy on TV, playing with her dolls, playing pranks on her brother, or just plain chatting about the things she likes;
She also is not the perfect being: Sometimes she lets herself go to the blues, she needs lots of care and attention, sometimes she says or does wrong things... or pushes her beliefs a bit too far than what it would reasonable. But she's always ready to question her wrongs and to accept the help and closeness of her friends and family.

...i would like this forum to become just like that. :) And if you'd like such a place too, then...

Maybe some of you remembers me - I was.. I was... well... I should introduce myself:
My name is Alex, i'm about 10-20, live in Russia, Moskow with my family, love 'the simpsons' show very much and as you can guess, Lisa is my favorite character there =).
I hope we'll have a nice time here ;).

Ok, first of all, I'd like to congratulate the founders of this forum, Serge and Marco.  You did it after all, guys, and in a pretty short period of time! Congratulations!

Secondly, I'm glad to see old members who apparently dissapear from the face of the earth.  Glad to see you here Cappade.


This place, like Serge already mentioned before is to express opinions, and let feelings out in a very artistic way, Visual or written.  It should begin like that and stay that way from as long as it should last.    Let the language barrier dissaper among us, and if someone needs help translating something, never hesitate to ask me.  I'll be glad to help.  Some of you know that I'm been busy lately, but things will clear out for me soon, maybe sooner that I expect and why not adding some new art to this forum as well.  I'll be happy to post some tutorials when all of this is taken care of, so I want to ask any of the administrators to create a new section if thats not too much to ask.   Maybe a tutorial one?

Thanks for your encouraging speech and the help you are offering despite your busy schedule. Do not worry, no one is rushing anything. The forum is still just in his starting phase, will probably develop, but the most important thing is to take things slowly, and naturally, without being caught in a possibly counterproducing enthusiasm to do a lot of things at once. For now, i think there is no need for a tutorial dedicated section: Lisa's Sketchbook will do good for now, a tutorial thread won't sure overcrowd it  :p

Actually, I am not a great fan of Lisa, moreover I am not a great fan of "The Simpsons". But I like Groening-draw-style very much and I draw my pictures in that style. I hope you won't be against pictures with non-Simpsons characters?  ;) I always glad to read any comments.

I'm from cold, snowy Russia, like some guys you already know. I live almost at the heart of country in city placed on river Volga. It's name is Samara (about 1,5 millions of people). I'm study at the university and right at this moment I'm working about my diploma project. I'm listening the music, mainly various Metal-genres, foremost Black metal and Heavy metal. Hm...What more to say? Yeah, of course I come here from The Independent Futurama/Simpsons Forum, where I appear from time to time. And still I'm a fan of Spiky haired girl, nomore else to say...

May as well chip in my 1 1/2 cents...

I go by the moniker DB but feel free to call me Pat  :) . 24 years of age, Simpson fan since about the age of 13 but don't really enjoy many of the episodes after season 11 or so - so hurrah for DVDs! Meddler in fanart and the occasional (usually failed) attempt at fanfiction, items of which have found their way around the net, much to my surprise. Longtime lisa fan, which seems to suit this place's ethos down to the ground.

Another metalhead, currently mostly into death, necro and post-black genre wise, and showing no signs of listening to anything more sensible as I get older :D. Favourite author is probably Stephen King, though my favourite book (previously The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon) has probably become The Lovely Bones by Sebold in recent years. Favourite films/tv programs are Fraiser, old Simpson episodes, almost anything directed by Chan Park Wook or Takashi Mike, and a big wadge of various anime things. I wish I could claim to have a favourite artist but am not nearly sophisticated enough, so I'll go for the easy option and say Geiger as I've got his calander up on the wall in front of me.

Current job involes lots of travel and also blowing things up, which means I have very limited internet access at times. So if I suddenly stop posting and don't respond to pms, I'm not in a huff, I'm likely just somewhere hot and wet working ridiculous hours :p.


And that's about my life summed up. Glad to be aboard :)

Heh, I suppose, if we had ratio "russians to people from another countries" like we have with "male to female", it could be quite high (at least for more or less active members) :p But with so much not native speakers it becomes easier to dare to write something :)

I've been changing in the past couple of years and my greatest inspiration is Lisa. I love her caring, kindness and I have a deep respect for her hard work ethics. People like that are hard to come by, and that's why I'd like to join this cool community where I hope to see, and maybe contribute with alot of creativity, both Lisa/Simpson related and otherwise. After all, a Lisa community has got to have alot of good people  :)

Hope you'll find it a welcome, friendly and tolerant place, just as I have since I joined a month ago. If you don't worry about criticism, a word I don't like, let's call it a minor note, I see you can use punctuation, but you're not using capital letters. Your posts are easy to understand, so it's not a major problem, but it sometimes causes a slight reaction in my head, a sort of disturbance that delay my reading. Maybe I'm the only one reacting in this way, but like I said, it's not a major problem, just look it as a minor note.

Im English, as such I speak with a prominant kind of accent. I am an art student looking for a project, so I chose to use my favourite characters as inspiration, problem being I now cant actually stop drawing them. I recently learned how to draw Lisa and discovered that we have similar views (except the vegitarian thing), and the same initials. LS.
Anyway, I was hoping I may possibley post some images here that I did at University on Photoshop, and maybe get some feedback and/or a few requests that people may have.

In my opinion, there is no other French here for two reasons:
- French are very bad English speaker (like me for instance :confused:) so they don’t post on English boards (they often don't even read them).
- In France, most people think that cartoons are only for young kids ('When I speak of cartoons with my family, they make me feel like a nerd' :lisa:).
But I hope that other will come ...

And I must admit that I like the 'frog joke' in Halloween VIII because I like to know what Simpsons (and other Americans) think of my country.

Okay, if you want to hear the story about that, here it goes.
When I was in school, a teacher once asked me about something in history class and I answered him. The problem was, I did not give the right answer for the question, so the teacher was looking at me in silent and than this happened:

Mr. Graf: "Could you do me a favor and ask me how my first name is?"
Me: "Okay... Mr. Graf, what is your first name?"
Mr. Graf: "Autobahnkirche."

What he wanted to show me, was the fact, that I told total nonsense in this lesson. :D

So, good old Gazmanafc made a absolutely pointless remark and I respond this way...

And "Autobahnkirche" is much of a made up word - "Autbahn" = "Highway" + "Kirche" = "Church" ... but there are no churches at highways actually... exept in the States maybe. :)

Oh, there are some, I know one around Bingen.

Yep, I know that one as well. There's a sign "Autobahnkirche" at the Waldlaubersheim highway exit - the church is actually located in the village nearby said highway exit, only a few hundred meters away.

I try to translate this word during more than five minutes when you posted it, but I could not understand the link between a church and a highway.

0 halloween episodes here. :( The only russian channel that translates the Simpsons, cannot be received in the region I live (Siberia). I still have to download and watch the most recent Halloween... hope it's good :)

A French channel will broadcast 13 episodes today :eek: , 6 of them are 'Simpson's Horror Show' episodes (yes, the French name for 'Treehouse of Horror' is in English ;)).

But I can't receive this channel because my parents don't have digital television receiving device :(

in Chile .... 6 episodes of the "la casita del horror" (treehouse of Horror) , since the number 1 at the 6 , all free in the public TV... :P ...  and the private tv the Fox (latino) too send a special, and today too and the sunday too  :lisa:
